Quantum Riemannian Cubics with Obstacle Avoidance for Quantum Geometric Model Predictive Control

Leonardo Colombo

We propose a geometric model predictive control framework for quantum systems subject to smoothness and state constraints. By formulating quantum state evolution intrinsically on the projective Hilbert space, we penalize covariant accelerations to generate smooth trajectories in the form of Riemannian cubics, while incorporating state-dependent constraints through potential functions. A structure-preserving variational discretization enables receding-horizon implementation, and a Lyapunov-type stability result is established for the closed-loop system. The approach is illustrated on the Bloch sphere for a two-level quantum system, providing a viable pathway toward predictive feedback control of constrained quantum dynamics.

Generation of W States in Waveguide‐Coupled Emitters Via Lyapunov Control

Du Ran, Shuai Liu, Zelong He +4 more

ABSTRACT We propose a scheme for preparing a three‐qubit W state in a half‐waveguide emitter system using Lyapunov control. The system comprises three two‐level emitters coupled to a mirror‐terminated one‐dimensional waveguide. Lyapunov control is realized by engineering time‐dependent driving fields that steer the system toward the target W state and decrease in amplitude as the system approaches the target. Both local control with individually addressed emitters and global control with a uniform drive are considered. Numerical simulations show that near‐unit target‐state population is achieved under both control strategies, with faster convergence under local control. Robustness is further examined under parameter variations, imperfect initialization, and dissipation. The results support Lyapunov control as an efficient approach to on‐demand multipartite entanglement generation in waveguide‐based quantum networks.

Analysis and control of closed quantum systems based on real-valued dynamics

Z. Xue, Hai Lin, T. H. Lee

This study aims to facilitate quantum control design by making use of derived real-valued equations, which are equivalent to the Schrödinger equation. First, a pure-state identification approach is presented to show that a quantum state can be determined by a minimum number of real parameters. Second, the real-valued equations are deduced for both two- and three-level systems based on the results of the state parametrisation. The procedure is also extended to n-level systems. Third, with the assistance of the derived real-valued equations, the state transfer problem is investigated based on Lyapunov analysis. The state transfer convergence is analysed. It is further shown how to achieve arbitrary pure state transfers via the Lyapunov method by designing the control. The real-valued equations provide a convenient way for theoretical analysis and control design of quantum systems, and therefore can assist in the implementation of quantum control. The state transfer convergence is analysed. It is further shown how to achieve arbitrary pure-state transfers via the Lyapunov method by designing the control.
