Return to Physical Pictures: An Ontological Interpretation of Fundamental Physical Concepts in ZTD(Revised Edition)

Abstract

(This revised edition removes the cascade interference experiment and adds the delayed-choice, quantum eraser, and filtering picture.) Mainstream quantum mechanics and quantum field theory have achieved unmatchedmathematical success, yet they leave numerous black boxes in the physicalpicture: what a field is, where mass comes from, why electric charge has a sign, whether the wave function is a physical reality or a probabilistic tool, where particlenature comes from, and why gravity is both so weak and unquantizable. Inthis paper, within the framework of Marker Ontology (ZTD theory), and basedon the three core concepts of spatial primitives, nearest-neighbor propagation, andsurvivor selection, we provide a unified, natural, and intuitive ontological picturefor matter, energy, mass, momentum, charge, fields, light, gravity, spin, vacuum, quantum fluctuations, antimatter, and other fundamental physical concepts. This paper does not modify any existing mathematical prediction and does notclaim to provide a new quantitative result. It offers a conceptual framework in whichthe delayed-choice experiment and the quantum eraser are reinterpreted as differentforms of physical filtering, rather than as evidence for retrocausality, consciousnessinducedcollapse, or branching worlds. In particular, it emphasizes that the totaldetection rate is not merely a technical efficiency factor, but is itself part of thefiltering structure that determines which photon histories enter the final statistics.

Return to Physical Pictures: An Ontological Interpretation of Fundamental Physical Concepts in ZTD

Mainstream quantum mechanics and quantum field theory have achieved unmatchedmathematical success, yet they leave numerous black boxes in the physicalpicture: what is a field, where does mass come from, why does electric charge havea sign, whether the wave function is a physical reality or a probabilistic tool, whereparticle nature comes from, and why gravity is both so weak and unquantizable. In this paper, within the framework of Marker Ontology (ZTD theory), and basedon the three core concepts of spatial primitives, nearest-neighbor propagation, andsurvivor selection, we provide a unified, natural, and intuitive ontological picturefor matter, energy, mass, momentum, charge, fields, light, gravity, spin, vacuum, quantum fluctuations, antimatter, and other fundamental physical concepts. This paper does not modify any existing mathematical prediction. However,it identifies a decisive experimental direction: the cascade interference experiment. The experiment predicts that in the strong-measurement limit the visibility of thesecond-level interference pattern does not vanish strictly, but retains a small nonzeroresidual. This differs from the predictions of the Copenhagen collapse interpretationand the many-worlds interpretation. It is currently the most important testableconsequence of the ZTD picture. Keywords: Marker Ontology; spatial primitives; constrained refreshment clusters;ontological picture; wave-particle duality; charge origin; mass–energy conversion;gravitational nature; cascade interference experiment

The ZTD Physical Mapping of the Mathematical Structure of Quantum Mechanics — A Conceptual Framework Paper —

Yan Zhuang

Quantum mechanics has achieved unparalleled mathematical success, but has left a seriesof black boxes at the level of physical pictures: What does it mean that state vectors livein a complex Hilbert space? Why does the imaginary unit i appear? Where does thecommutation relation [ ˆX , ˆp] = iℏ come from? Why does measurement cause collapse? Whydoes the Born rule hold?In this paper, within the framework of ZTD (Marker Ontology), we provide physicalontological interpretations for every mathematical object of quantum mechanics. The positioning of this paper must first be made clear: this is a conceptual frameworkpaper, not a complete mathematical derivation. The goal of this paper is to establisha mapping relationship between the ZTD physical picture and the mathematical structure ofquantum mechanics. For each item in the list, rigorous mathematical argumentation needsto be gradually developed in subsequent work. Among the mathematical derivations givenin this paper, some are already rigorous (such as the discrete derivation of the commutationrelation), some are still conceptual (such as the derivation of the Born rule), and some carrycircularity risks (such as the borrowing of the Fermi golden rule for the Born rule). Theseare honestly marked in the text. The core mappings include:1. Complex Hilbert space corresponds to the complex amplitude space on the primitivenetwork;2. State vectors are the mathematical generalization of diffuse patterns;3. The wave function is the physical distribution of the diffuse pattern on the primitivenetwork;4. The imaginary unit i is the phase encoding of step counting;5. The commutation relation is the continuum limit of the discrete adjacency matrix;6. Unitary evolution is the pattern maintaining itself;7. Measurement is the capture of the diffuse pattern by an atom;8. The Born rule is the statistical result of capture;9. Quantum entanglement is the sharing of the same birth event;10. The uncertainty principle is a necessary consequence of spatial discreteness. This paper does not invent new mathematics, nor does it propose new testable predictions. Its goal is: to turn quantum mechanics from “mathematical mechanics” backinto “physical mechanics.”Keywords: quantum mechanics; mathematical structure; physical mapping; ontology; diffusepattern; unitary evolution; ZTD theory

Internal Time Orientation in Double-Slit and Delayed-Choice Experiments

Brett Farkas

This work presents a unified, interpretive account of quantum interference and delayed-choice experiments that applies equally to photons and massive particles. Rather than invoking spacetime trajectories, wave–particle duality, retrocausality, or collapse postulates, the paper locates quantum interference in the coherent evolution of internal, pre-geometric degrees of freedom defined over classical spacetime. Within this framework, “which-path” questions are not merely unanswered but fundamentally ill-posed: interference arises from global coherence of an internal field subject to experimental boundary conditions, while spacetime itself remains single-valued and classical at laboratory scales. The approach reproduces all standard quantum-mechanical predictions without modification and is explicitly interpretive rather than predictive. A central result is a unified explanation of why interference occurs across disparate physical systems—photons, electrons, atoms, and molecules—while decoherence manifests through system-dependent physical mechanisms. Photons and massive particles differ in how internal coherence is lost (e.g., electromagnetic absorption versus collisional and thermal interactions), but not in the underlying principle. Delayed-choice experiments are reinterpreted without paradox: changes to the apparatus modify boundary conditions for the internal field rather than retroactively altering particle histories. By removing spacetime paths from the fundamental ontology, the framework offers a consistent, path-free account of interference, decoherence, and localized detection that preserves the empirical success of quantum mechanics while clarifying its conceptual foundations.

Quantification of Physical Quantities and Derivation of Group Velocity in ZTD Ontology— From Spatial Primitives to Macroscopic Motion (Complete Version)(Thought Preservation)

Yan Zhuang

Within the framework of ZTD (Marker Ontology), this paper systematically accomplishes two tasks: the ontological quantification of physical quantities, and the marker interpretation of group velocity. All derivations proceed from two axioms, layer by layer, without logical gaps. Part One: Foundations. From the axiom of objective existence and the axiom of finitude, we derive the existence of spatial primitives and temporal primitives. We define the deviation field and establish the coupled oscillator equation. Part Two: Hierarchical Quantification of Physical Quantities. We define and quantify, layer by layer, energy, force, inertial coefficient, mass, velocity, acceleration, momentum, charge, spin, the speed of light, and the gravitational constant. Each physical quantity is given an ontological definition, derivation, quantification formula, and macroscopic correspondence. All coefficients (𝜔02, 𝐷, 𝑚, ℏ) have clear physical meaning and origin. Part Three: Ontological Interpretation of Motion. We argue that motion is perspective-dependent. Distance is the accumulation of effective markers. Both objects can claim they are not moving. Constancy of distance is a dynamic equilibrium of chain breaking and rebuilding. The wave function itself has no velocity; velocity is a macroscopic reading. Part Four: Marker Interpretation of Group Velocity. Under two admitted ontological assumptions, we rigorously quantify the group velocity of the free electron wave packet. Keywords: ZTD theory; Marker Ontology; quantification of physical quantities; group velocity; perspective relativity; marker allocation conservation

Paper 19 Charge-entanglement Ontology: Gravitational Lensing and the Double-Slit Experiment

John Robert Lamarr Greer

This paper presents a deterministic, pre-geometric formulation of the Charge-entanglement Ontology in which all physical phenomena emerge from a single primitive: charge asymmetry (photon dipole pairs). The necessary absence created by any charge configuration (the Alpha Void) generates reclamation pressure that propagates as waves chasing both poles of every dipole. A free photon survives by riding the crest of its own reclamation wave at the speed of gravity \(c\) — the maximum speed at which coherent information can propagate while maintaining phase stability. Gravitational lensing is shown to be the deterministic deflection of photons following paths of least total accumulated Greer Tax while surfing modified reclamation waves in regions of high dipole stacking. The double-slit interference pattern arises from real classical ripples in the reclamation landscape excited by the slits, providing a fully mechanical explanation of the wave function without invoking probability or collapse. The framework reproduces all standard weak-field predictions of general relativity and quantum optics while offering a clear ontological foundation: temporal resistance is identified as the propagation speed of the Void’s reclamation pressure, and the critical locking efficiency \(\beta_{\rm crit}(n) = 1 - 1/n^2\) marks the transition from radiation (must surf at \(c\)) to stable matter (can stand still). Special attention is given to delayed-choice and post-absorption interference. This work forms part of a broader program aiming to derive all of physics from charge alone, eliminating the need for separate spacetime geometry or probabilistic postulates.

Fundamental physical theories: mathematical structures grounded on a primitive ontology

Valia Allori

In my dissertation I analyze the structure of fundamental physical theories. I start with an analysis of what an adequate primitive ontology is, discussing the measurement problem in quantum mechanics and theirs solutions. It is commonly said that these theories have little in common. I argue instead that the moral of the measurement problem is that the wave function cannot represent physical objects and a common structure between these solutions can be recognized: each of them is about a clear three-dimensional primitive ontology that evolves according to a law determined by the wave function. The primitive ontology is what matter is made of while the wave function tells the matter how to move. One might think that what is important in the notion of primitive ontology is their three-dimensionality. If so, in a theory like classical electrodynamics electromagnetic fields would be part of the primitive ontology. I argue that, reflecting on what the purpose of a fundamental physical theory is, namely to explain the behavior of objects in three--dimensional space, one can recognize that a fundamental physical theory has a particular architecture. If so, electromagnetic fields play a different role in the theory than the particles and therefore should be considered, like the wave function, as part of the law. Therefore, we can characterize the general structure of a fundamental physical theory as a mathematical structure grounded on a primitive ontology. I explore this idea to better understand theories like classical mechanics and relativity, emphasizing that primitive ontology is crucial in the process of building new theories, being fundamental in identifying the symmetries. Finally, I analyze what it means to explain the word around us in terms of the notion of primitive ontology in the case of regularities of statistical character. Here is where the notion of typicality comes into play: we have explained a phenomenon if the typical histories of the primitive ontology give rise to the statistical regularities we observe.
