Abstract

Quantum mechanics is not a universal theory. This paper establishes a rigorous tripartite partition of mechanical applicability based on the coarse-graining scale L_c within the Cosmic String-Field and Coarse-Graining Meta-Theory (CSF-CMT). Layer I (L_c \sim l_{\text{string}}): meta-field wave dynamics governing the first-space initial state \Psi_I^{(0)}, where no particle concept, Hilbert space, or probability interpretation exists. Layer II (l_{\text{string}} \ll L_c \ll L_{\text{macro}}): standard quantum mechanics as an emergent effective theory, where particles arise as coarse-grained excitations and the Heisenberg uncertainty relation manifests as an information-cutoff effect. Layer III (L_c \to \infty): classical mechanics and deterministic geometry. The atomic horizon r_{AH} is identified as the physical boundary between Layer I and Layer II. This partition resolves the century-old quantum-classical boundary problem by demonstrating it to be a natural phase transition in coarse-graining scale, not a mysterious wave-function collapse.

We present a comprehensive framework for the quantum-to-classical transition based on the Coarse-Graining String-Field / Cosmic Meta-Theory (CSF-CMT) meta-field ontology. In this paradigm, the six string-empowered modes—gravitational, electromagnetic, magnetic, weak, strong, and repulsive—are not fundamental ontological entities but emergent projections of the single meta-field \xi_{EO} residing in the First Space. The distinction between quantum and classical behavior is not intrinsic to nature but operational, determined by the relative scale between the system’s characteristic coherence length and the observer’s coarse-graining scale L_c^{\text{obs}}.We derive emergent canonical commutation relations [\hat{x}_i, \hat{p}_j]_{\text{eff}} = i\hbar \delta_{ij} \mathcal{F}_{\text{holographic}}(L_c^{\text{obs}}/l_{\text{string}}) that continuously interpolate between full quantum non-commutativity and classical Poisson brackets as L_c^{\text{obs}} increases. The apparent “collapse of the wavefunction” is re-interpreted as the non-unitary projection induced by the observer’s coarse-graining operator \hat{\mathcal{C}}_{L_c^{\text{obs}}} acting on the First Space medium. We further demonstrate that violations of Bell inequalities originate from topological winding of shared meta-field fluctuations rather than spacelike entanglement, and predict coarse-graining-dependent super-quantum correlations |S_{\text{CHSH}}| > 2\sqrt{2} accessible in the early universe. Our results establish quantum mechanics as an effective fluid dynamics of the First Space medium within a finite coarse-graining window, while classical determinism emerges as a coherent condensate in the L_c \to \infty limit.

CSF-CMT vΩ.25.6: The Boundary Anchor — Schrödinger's Dilemma as Layer-Confusion, and Quantum Entanglement as Meta-Field Mediated Second-Space Correlation

kimik3,单洁,X. Ma, Independent Researcher, Institute for First-Space Ontology and Emergent Physics Email: maexiang@163.com; 15552786932@139.com; maexiang2026@Outlook.com

This paper anchors the precise epistemological boundary between standard quantum mechanics and first-space meta-field wave dynamics by re-examining the foundational perplexities of Schrödinger, Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen, and Bell. It is demonstrated that Schrödinger's cat paradox arises from the mistaken assumption that the wave function |\psi\rangle is an ontologically primitive entity, whereas it is in fact a coarse-grained projection \hat{\mathcal{C}}_{L_c}|\xi_{EO}\rangle of the continuous meta-field. The Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen argument is resolved not by non-local hidden variables or by Copenhagen subjectivism, but by recognizing that the two ``particles'' are not independent substances but distinct modal projections $P_A\xi_{EO}$ and $P_B\xi_{EO}$ of a single global field. Quantum entanglement is thereby identified as a second-space correlation mediated by the first-space meta-field's intrinsic continuity: no information travels faster than light because no information needs to travel---the correlation is pre-established in the substrate's global phase structure. Bell's theorem is satisfied without violating locality, because the theorem's premise of statistical independence (factorizability) fails for projections of a unified ontological field. Keywords: Schrödinger cat paradox, EPR paradox, Bell's theorem, quantum entanglement, meta-field continuity, layer-confusion, coarse-grained projection, ontological substrate, non-factorizability, second-space correlation

Tripartite Mechanics: A Three-Epoch Framework Unifying Wave, Particle, and Nonlocality through ERA Geometry

Jihoon Yang

We propose Tripartite Quantum Mechanics (TQM), a new physical framework where all physical entities exist as a triplet across three geometric epochs: ERA-I (primordial symmetry, β ≈ 0.20), ERA-II (oscillatory wave dynamics, β ≈ 0.50), and ERA-III (nonlocal projection, β > 0.60). CORE PRINCIPLEEvery quantum state exists as a tripartite structure:Ψ = (ψ_I, ψ_II, ψ_III) Standard quantum mechanics describes only the ERA-II projection. Entropy and Physical Realizability of Coarse-Graining in Closed Systems

Julia Piccardo-Valdemarin

The definition of entropy in both classical and quantum contexts relies on a coarse-graining of the underlying microscopic description. While this dependence is widely acknowledged, the physical constraints that determine which coarse-grainings are admissible are rarely made explicit. This issue becomes particularly acute when the universe is treated as a closed system, where no external observer or privileged level of description can be assumed. Any characterization of entropy — including claims about the low-entropy initial conditions of the universe — must then be grounded in descriptions that can be physically instantiated from within the system itself. In this work, we introduce a rigorous operational framework that establishes explicit physical selection principles over the space of admissible descriptions. We organize these criteria into necessary conditions (local accessibility and physical implementation via internal interactions) and practical sufficiency conditions (finite resource requirements anchored in Landauer’s principle, dynamical stability, and effective consistency). To demonstrate the validity of our framework, we introduce a concrete one-dimensional spin-chain toy model, illustrating how mathematically valid global partitions fail to be physically realizable due to dynamic propagation limits and informational constraints. We analyze the far-reaching implications of this restriction across three domains. In classical statistical mechanics, it limits the arbitrariness of macrostate definitions. In quantum theory, it identifies environment-induced decoherence (einselection) not merely as a formal tool, but as the objective dynamical mechanism that forces the emergence of admissible internal partitions. In cosmology, it resolves foundational circularities in the quasi-classical histories framework and reframes the thermodynamic arrow of time as a "doubly relational" property—dependent both on cosmic boundary conditions and on the material limits of internal subsystems. Our framework clarifies the operational status of entropy as an emergent property of physically instantiated descriptions within a universe that observes itself.

Spacetime Quantum Mechanics and the Quantum Mechanics of Spacetime

James B. Hartle

These are the author's lectures at the 1992 Les Houches Summer School, "Gravitation and Quantizations". They develop a generalized sum-over-histories quantum mechanics for quantum cosmology that does not require either a preferred notion of time or a definition of measurement. The "post-Everett" quantum mechanics of closed systems is reviewed. Generalized quantum theories are defined by three elements (1) the set of fine-grained histories of the closed system which are its most refined possible description, (2) the allowed coarse grainings which are partitions of the fine-grained histories into classes, and (3) a decoherence functional which measures interference between coarse grained histories. Probabilities are assigned to sets of alternative coarse-grained histories that decohere as a consequence of the closed system's dynamics and initial condition. Generalized sum-over histories quantum theories are constructed for non-relativistic quantum mechanics, abelian gauge theories, a single relativistic world line, and for general relativity. For relativity the fine-grained histories are four-metrics and matter fields. Coarse grainings are four-dimensional diffeomorphism invariant partitions of these. The decoherence function is expressed in sum-over-histories form. The quantum mechanics of spacetime is thus expressed in fully spacetime form. The coarse-grainings are most general notion of alternative for quantum theory expressible in spacetime terms. Hamiltonian quantum mechanics of matter fields with its notion of unitarily evolving state on a spacelike surface is recovered as an approximation to this generalized quantum mechanics appropriate for those initial conditions and coarse-grainings such that spacetime geometry

Why Classical Physics Is an Approximation: Decoherence, Coarse-Graining, and the Limits of Determinism

Guillermo C. Barraza

This article is the third and final part of a three-paper sequence developing Ontological Field Theory (OFT) as a unified framework grounding quantum mechanics in foundational ontological principles. The trilogy is structured as follows: Part I — Conceptual Necessity:Why Quantum Mechanics Is Inevitable: Ontological Continuity and the Necessity of Quantum Dynamics establishes that quantum mechanics follows necessarily from minimal requirements on coherent being, independently of specific physical postulates. Part II — Technical Realization:Derivation of the Schrödinger Equation from Ontological Field Theory provides the explicit field-theoretic derivation showing how the Schrödinger equation emerges as the non-relativistic limit of a covariant ontological field. Part III — Critical Context:Why Classical Physics Is an Approximation: Decoherence, Coarse-Graining, and the Limits of Determinism explains why classical determinism and trajectories arise only as emergent, approximate descriptions of fundamentally quantum and relational dynamics. Each article is logically self-contained, but the full argument is distributed across the three contributions. The conceptual analysis motivates the mathematics; the mathematics grounds the physics; and the critical examination situates classical intuition as a limiting case rather than a foundation. The papers are intended to be read as a coherent whole. We argue that quantum mechanics is not an arbitrary empirical framework but an inevitable consequence of minimal ontological requirements. Assuming only that being must exist necessarily, remain consistent, be relational, and admit self-reference, we show that classical deterministic physics is structurally insufficient. Quantum dynamics emerges as the unique low-energy realization of coherent ontological continuity. This work completes the ontological grounding of quantum mechanics by clarifying why it could not have been otherwise.
