Abstract

Abstract We present a scheme for precision measurement of electrical charge using tunable double optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) with quantized squeezed fields in a hybrid Coulomb-coupled optomechanical system. We show that the double OMIT windows are linearly tuned by the charge number and robust against temperature, cavity decay and squeezed photon number. By monitoring the interval between the two transparency dips in the homodyne spectrum, high-precision charge detection can be achieved with strong noise immunity. This work provides a reliable optical method for micro-nano charge sensing and promotes the application of quantized field assisted OMIT in quantum metrology.

Enhanced multicolor optomechanically induced transparency in electro-optical hybrid system

Guixia Pan, Ruijie Xiao, Chengbo Zhai

Abstract We investigate the tunable multicolor optomechanically induced transparency through electro-optical hybrid system. The system consists an optical cavity fulled with three-level atomic ensemble and two charged mechanical oscillators coupled via Coulomb interaction. Under different coupling strengths, the system can exhibit the phenomena of optomechanical induced transparency increase. Specifically, the number of the transparency windows increases with the presence of charged mechanical resonators and atoms. Furthermore, the induced transparency phenomena are strongly manipulated by the coupling strength between the optical mode and the mechanical mode, or between the optical mode and the atoms and the Rabi frequency, or between the Coulomb coupling between the two charged mechanical modes. It is found that the larger coupling strength between the cavity field and the atoms and the mechanical oscillator, the wider transparent windows. Our approach is feasible for storage of light and has potential applications in quantum information processing.

Electromagnetically induced transparency with quantized fields in a dissipative optomechanical system

Sumei Huang, Li Deng, Aixi Chen

We study electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) using quantized fields in a dissipative optomechanical system with two mechanical oscillators coupled to each other via the Coulomb interaction. The weak probe field is a finite bandwidth squeezed vacuum field. In the absence of the Coulomb coupling, we show that an EIT dip is observable in the homodyne spectrum of the output field even for the squeezed vacuum field at the single-photon level. We find that the thermal environment has a negative impact on the EIT behavior. In the presence of the Coulomb coupling, we show that double EIT dips appear in the homodyne spectrum of the output field. The separation between the two EIT dips can be used to measure the Coulomb coupling strength. Compared to the case of the purely dissipative coupling, the combined dispersive and dissipative coupling can make the EIT dip broader and the minimum value of the EIT dip smaller.

Transparency and tunable slow-fast light in a hybrid cavity optomechanical system

Qinghong Liao, Xing Mao Xiao, Wenjie Nie +1 more

We theoretically investigate the optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) phenomenon in a hybrid optomechanical system composing of an optomechanical cavity and a traditional one. A Kerr medium is inserted in the optomechanical cavity and the other traps the atomic ensemble. We demonstrate the appearance of electromagnetically and optomechanically induced transparency when there is only Kerr medium or atoms in the system. We give an explicit explanation for the mechanism of the transparency. Moreover, we set up new scheme for the measurement of Kerr coefficient and the single atom-photon coupling strength. It is shown that Kerr nonlinearity can inhibit the normal mode splitting (NMS) when the tunnel strength is strong coupling. Furthermore, in the output field, slow light and fast light are converted to realize the tunable switch from slow light to fast light. This study has some important guiding significance in the fields of the high precision measurement and quantum information processing.

Electromagnetically induced transparency with quantized fields in optocavity mechanics

Sumei Huang, G. S. Agarwal

We report electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) using quantized fields in optomechanical systems. The weak probe field is a narrowband squeezed field. We present a homodyne detection of EIT in the output quantum field. We find that the EIT dip exists even though the photon number in the squeezed vacuum is at the single-photon level. The EIT with quantized fields can be seen even at temperatures on the order of 100 mK, thus paving the way for using optomechanical systems as memory elements.

Optomechanically induced transparency and possible application in a quadratic-coupling optomechanical system with an induced electric field

Chunchao Yu, Wen‐Xing Yang, Fang Chen +2 more

Abstract Tunable optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) with an induced electric field (IEF) in a quadratic-coupling optomechanical system is theoretically investigated. The system transmission rate under different controlling parameters has been discussed. It is revealed that both phase and group delay of the probe field can be adjusted by the IEF and pump field. Such a system may be used in tunable optical buffer, IEF detector, modulator or other optical devices.

Hybrid spin-optomechanical control of induced transparency in coupled cavity systems

Fatima Kosar, Soma Bashir, Nusrat Riaz +2 more

Abstract Optomechanics has become a very active area of research in recent years and has attracted significant interest in both theoretical and experimental studies. In this work, we theoretically investigate optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) using a hybrid system consisting of two coupled optical cavities, each interacting with a spin ensemble. The cavities are coherently driven by a strong control field and a weak probe field. We analytically calculate the transmission spectrum of the coupled spin–cavity system and analyze the dynamics of the system. The obtained transmission response shows clear signatures of multi-window OMIT, which arises from coherent interference between the hybridized normal modes. Our results indicate that the presence of spin ensembles in both cavities significantly enhances the transparency behavior and provides additional tunable parameters to control the OMIT windows. In particular, the transmission spectrum and the shape of the transparency profile can be controlled by the spin–cavity interaction and the inter-cavity coupling strength J . Furthermore, the inter-cavity tunneling rate, spin decoherence, and spin–cavity coupling strength strongly influence the transparency properties. Overall, this study highlights the potential of spin-based multi-cavity optomechanical systems for coherent optical control and tunable quantum interference.
