Abstract

The double-slit interference experiment remains a classic confusing problem in quantum physics.Few studies have adopted reverse shielding logic for systematic verification.Taking fringe disappearance in path detection as an established fact, this paper designs three progressive consciousness-shielding experiments to explore the possible influence of human subjective consciousness on experimental outcomes. Separately, through combined theoretical and experimental derivation, core conclusions are drawn.Starting from the fundamental photon energy formula, three intrinsic physical properties of photons are clarified:zero adjustable amplitude, stable intrinsic frequency, and medium-dependent propagation velocity.A self-constrained wave-packet propagation model analogous to liquid-metal behavior is accordingly established. This model physically explains double-slit interference and quantum entanglement, confirming that fringe disappearance arises from instrumental physical perturbation rather than observation-induced quantum collapse. Furthermore, this paper reassesses the practical value and physical limits of the Copenhagen interpretation, and establishes a new self-consistent interpretative framework for quantum mechanical phenomena independent of mainstream theories.

Reexamining the Role of Consciousness in the Quantum Universe from the Double-Slit Interference Experiment: Clarifying Misconceptions of Wavefunction Collapse and the Mechanism of Conscious Self-Consistency

Zhongning Yi

The double-slit interference experiment has long been widely misinterpreted as "human consciousness directly causing wavefunction collapse". This view confuses physical measurement interaction with subjective conscious experience and deviates from the orthodox interpretation of modern quantum mechanics. Starting from the double-slit experiment, this paper distinguishes the real physical mechanism of wavefunction collapse and points out that the disappearance of interference fringes originates from the physical coupling between measuring devices and microscopic particles as well as environmental decoherence, which has no direct causal relationship with conscious observation. On this basis, this paper proposes a self-consistent unified framework of consciousness and quantum universe: consciousness is not the trigger of collapse, but the ontological source of the entire quantum possibility universe. Through the Yang-Mills mass gap and symmetry breaking mechanism, consciousness condenses the potential quantum field into a material universe with mass, structure and stable dynamics. The biological brain acts as a localized carrier of consciousness, enabling the overall consciousness to observe and experience its own creation from a limited perspective, forming a closed loop of "consciousness creation—self-observation—self-cognition". This paper corrects systematic biases in popular science and public perception, and provides a rigorous and unified path for understanding the real role of consciousness in the quantum universe.

Mechanism Interpretation of Double-Slit Interference Uncertainty and Measurement-Induced Interference Disappearance Based on Spatial Particle Resonance Propagation Model

Jian Liu

The double-slit interference experiment serves as a fundamental experiment in quantum mechanics. Core theories including wave-particle duality, quantum superposition and measurement collapse are established on the basis of this phenomenon. The mainstream Copenhagen interpretation and Bohmian pilot-wave theory rely heavily on mathematical statistical fitting to interpret experimental outcomes, yet they fail to reveal the real physical evolution mechanism of photons at the microscale. Moreover, they inherently suffer from symmetry breaking, causal discontinuity and logical inconsistency. The symmetry-breaking analogy widely adopted in academic circles contains dimensional mismatch and conceptual substitution, representing a cognitive bias that places mathematical tools above physical mechanisms. Based on the symmetry principle of classical physics and the rule of continuous causal evolution, this paper systematically identifies the core defects of mainstream quantum interpretations and points out the paradigm limitation of quantum mechanics that prioritizes mathematical fitting over physical ontology. A spatial particle resonance propagation model is proposed. This model explains that photons are essentially the resonance manifestation of space particles. When resonance passes through double slits, the resonance body splits symmetrically, and then recombines after passing through the slits to form interference. Measurement will break the symmetry of resonance, resulting in the disappearance of interference fringes. This model maintains continuous causality and geometric symmetry, and provides a new physical mechanism explanation for quantum uncertainty and measurement effects in double-slit experiments.

A New Interpretation of the Recoiling-Slit Quantum Interference Experiment

Jiaqing Yan

In December 2025, Pan Jianwei’s research team reproduced the Einstein-Bohr recoiling-slit thought experiment proposed in 1927 at the quantum limit. They observed that the interference fringe contrast changes continuously with the momentum of the slit. Mainstream physical theories currently regard this phenomenon as critical evidence for the quantum complementarity principle. Based on the Light Primitive Theory, this paper points out that all relevant theoretical models established since the century-long debate at the Solvay Conference contain two fundamental idealized simplifications: first, physical slits are abstracted as two-dimensional geometric holes with zero thickness; second, the inherent continuous spatial oscillation of photons is ignored. Photons are not point-like particles moving along fixed straight lines. Their persistent oscillation enables continuous momentum coupling between photons and the photon self-locked matter forming the slit walls throughout the whole passage through the physically thick slit channel. The inverse correlation between path detectability and interference fringe visibility observed in the experiment can be self-consistently explained by continuous photon-slit wall interaction, without abstract hypotheses such as wave-particle complementarity or quantum superposition. This paper supplements the objective physical conditions missing from traditional models and provides a brand-new interpretative framework for quantum interference phenomena at the underlying mechanism level.

Observation Effect in the Double-Slit Experiment: Empirical Test of the Mainstream Interpretation and an Alternative Model Based on Energy Conservation

Zhenfeng Bian

Abstract The double-slit interference experiment is a core experiment in quantum mechanics. The phenomenon that observation changes the result has long been explained by the Copenhagen Interpretation as wavefunction collapse—a diffused wave contracts to a point particle upon measurement. While successful in probabilistic prediction, this interpretation faces three long-overlooked empirical difficulties in its physical picture: (1) Energy conservation: How can energy distributed over a large region instantly concentrate at a single point during collapse? (2) Total energy drop on the screen: Experimental data show that the total energy reaching the screen is significantly lower with a detector present than without, which the collapse model cannot accommodate. (3) Continuous effect of measurement strength: When detection strength is adjusted from weak to strong, interference fringes fade continuously instead of vanishing abruptly at a threshold, accompanied by a simultaneous continuous drop in total energy. All these contradict the expectation of instant collapse. This paper systematically reviews the experimental facts filtered out by mainstream narratives, then proposes an alternative model fully based on energy conservation: A photon can be regarded as an entire diffused energy cluster; the double-slit barrier splits it into two branch energies, which superimpose freely to produce interference fringes. The detector does not cause collapse but injects a probing energy field into the space behind the slits, which physically isolates the two branches and destroys the interference condition. This model relies on neither wavefunction collapse nor instantaneous action at a distance, and naturally predicts that stronger detection leads to more complete isolation, dimmer fringes, and lower total screen energy—consistent with experiments including the 2025 MIT study. This paper does not attempt to overthrow the mathematical framework of quantum mechanics, but points out that the Copenhagen Interpretation is a historically conditioned physical picture with empirical vulnerabilities. The energy cluster model proposed in this paper is superior in empirical completeness and is suitable as an alternative framework for physics education and engineering intuition.

Revisiting self-interference in double-slit experiments

S. Kim, Byoung Seung HAM

Over the past several decades, single photon-based path interference in double-slit experiment has been well demonstrated for the particle nature of photons satisfying complementarity theory, where the quantum mechanical interpretation of the single photon interference fringe is given by Born rule for complex amplitudes in measurements. Unlike most conventional methods using entangled photon pairs, here, a classical coherent light source is directly applied for the proof of the same self-interference phenomenon. Instead of double slits, we use a Mach-Zehnder interferometer as usual, where the resulting self-interference fringe of coherent single photons is exactly the same as that of the coherent photon ensemble of the laser, demonstrating that the classical coherence based on the wave nature is rooted in the single photon self-interference. This unexpected result seems to contradict our common understanding of decoherence phenomena caused by multi-wave interference among bandwidth distributed photons in coherence optics.

The Illusion of Quantum Mechanics: A Critique and Reflection on the Mainstream Interpretation of the Double-Slit Experiment

Jiqing Zeng

The double-slit experiment, as a cornerstone experiment of quantum mechanics, has long been regarded as the ultimate proof of wave-particle duality. However, results from high-precision experiments conducted in recent years by teams including Tonomura and Bach, as well as from the "recoiling slit" experiment by Jianwei Pan's team, have revealed profound contradictions with mainstream quantum mechanical interpretations. These contradictions expose systematic biases in conceptual definitions and the interpretation of physical mechanisms within the mainstream narrative. Based on particle flow scattering theory and incorporating the design details and results of Pan's team's experiment, this paper critiques the mainstream quantum mechanical narrative that mystifies the "cumulative effect of particle flow scattering" as "wave-particle duality" and "wave function collapse." It argues that the essence of the bright and dark fringes in the double-slit experiment is the statistical distribution of particles after their interaction with slit matter, rather than wave interference. Research indicates that the core dilemma of mainstream quantum mechanical interpretation stems from a misreading of the physical essence of experiments and conceptual confusion. Reconstructing a physical picture based on classical scattering theory and statistical laws is the inevitable path for quantum mechanics to overcome its interpretational predicament.
