Grammar of Time GT-03: Hilbert and Born as Re-Closure of Coherent Portato

Abstract

Hilbert is before the trace. Born is after the question. GT-03 is a technical sector module of the Grammar of Time programme. It does not claim to derive all of quantum mechanics, quantum dynamics, quantum field theory, or the full Hilbert-space formalism from nothing. Its narrower claim is that, given a stabilized measurement regime with finite closure channels, square-root access to response weights, reversible phase memory, and recomposable channels, the Hilbert representation is the minimal coherent-portato completion. Given this Hilbert representation, any operationally coherent record-weight on effects is forced to have the trace form R_omega(E) = Tr(rho_omega E). Thus GT-03 eliminates two primitives in the measurement regime: primitive Hilbert space as an unexplained arena, and primitive quantum probability as an unexplained postulate. The trace representation is treated as a finite-dimensional effect-valuation result; the GT contribution is the primitive audit of the closure, coarse-graining, quotient, stability, mixing, and covariance locks. Born is not primitive probability: it is the record-weight of coherent portato forced to re-close through a question. This is a technical preprint, version v1.0, and has not been peer-reviewed.

Grammar of Time — GT-S2: The Quantum State Comes Too Late — Normalisation, Predictive Identity, and the Common Pre-Normalised Carrier

DARVY BORTOLAMEOTTI

Physics may have mistaken a quotient for an origin. Quantum theory represents a preparation by a trace-one positive operator ρ. This is exact for relative outcome weights, but it is produced by the many-to-one map N(σ)=σ/Tr(σ), for which N(λσ)=N(σ) for every λ>0. If total response scale is inert under every admissible continuation, the identification loses nothing relevant. If one declared continuation can distinguish σ from λσ, however, normalisation has erased a future-relevant distinction. The trace-one state remains an exact terminal quantum reading, but it cannot by itself be a faithful future-sufficient carrier. The reason this order is easy to miss is structural: once the quotient is taken as the complete input, every downstream construction that factors through it is necessarily blind to the positive-ray scale already identified away. The mathematical ingredients used below are largely established and are not presented as isolated novelties. Jordan–von Neumann, Frobenius, and finite-dimensional Gleason–Busch-type results serve instead as consecutive links in a conditional dependency-order theorem. Equality of complete future-response profiles first fixes the minimal predictive quotient. Under explicit locks, positive refinement fixes square-root access; quadratic recomposition fixes a real inner-product carrier; and the stated return-algebra, positive-involution, and central exhaustive-phase locks then select its complex Hilbert representation. Positive additive effect weights acquire the unique pre-normalised trace form Wω(E)=Tr(σωE); and only after the non-zero total sω=Tr(σω) is closed does one obtain ρω=σω/sω and the Born reading. The familiar finite-dimensional Hilbert–trace–Born structure therefore reappears, but in a different dependency position. Two no-go results make this dependency claim exact within their stated domains: canonical ray normalisation cannot by itself faithfully carry active scale, and, in dimension at least two, a normalised invertible congruence is affine on the full state space only when its transport is scale-uniform. A common-profile theorem states when independently reconstructed readings are uniquely profile-equivalent over one fixed common future-profile image, rather than merely compatible descriptions. Under locks L0–L9 on one typed finite-dimensional assembly datum, these results form a single conditional genealogy; the paper neither derives quantum theory from NIR alone nor asserts that nature realises the locks. Its central result is not a new quantum rule. If two realised or admissibly generated representatives σ and λσ on the same positive ray, with σ≠0 and λ≠1, have different complete declared future-response profiles, no faithful representation of those profiles can factor solely through canonical ray normalisation N. The trace-one state is not wrong: it is the exact answer to a later, conditional question.

Hilbert Representation Ledger: Effective Hilbert Space from Finite Binary-Mechanical History Amplitudes

Adam Alexander Dick

This paper is Paper 004 in the Anaxiomatic Mechanics / pq-Spacetime stack. It develops the Hilbert-space representation layer of Binary Mechanics from the mature finite graph-history formulation established in Paper 002 and the probability scalarization developed in Paper 003. The central claim is that Hilbert space is not a primitive arena inserted at the foundation. Instead, it arises as the minimal effective representation of finite Binary Mechanics amplitude data. A realized Binary Mechanics state is a resolved finite polarized graph. From that graph, the theory generates admissible finite future-history families. These histories carry phase structure through their update sequence, and coarse-grained alternatives receive finite complex amplitudes by summing the contributions of all admissible histories in the corresponding class. Once Paper 003 supplies the no-fence scalarization of finite complex record amplitude into squared-modulus record weights, the standard finite-dimensional complex Hilbert-space structure becomes the natural ledger for the resulting amplitude distribution. Basis states represent distinguishable coarse completion channels, linear superposition records unresolved admissible history content, the inner product records the squared-modulus weight structure, and norm-preserving transformations represent closed changes of effective description. The paper emphasizes that Hilbert space is therefore a reconstruction layer, not a substrate ontology. The underlying ontology remains the finite resolved graph and its admissible history fan. Hilbert space appears because it is the compact and faithful representation of the amplitude ledger generated by Binary Mechanics itself. The paper also clarifies how tensor products, entanglement, unitary structure, and continuum quantum descriptions are to be understood as later effective layers built from finite graph-history mechanics rather than assumed at the start. This work continues the staged reconstruction program of Anaxiomatic Mechanics and pq-spacetime by showing how ordinary quantum representation theory begins to emerge from finite graph histories, phase-bearing admissible futures, and no-fence probability scalarization.

APF Paper 5 Technical Supplement - Quantum Structure as Least-Cost Admissible Bookkeeping (v5.97)

Ethan Brooke

Technical Supplement to Paper 5 of the Admissibility Physics Framework (APF), Quantum Structure as Least-Cost Admissible Bookkeeping. v5.97 (April 2026), 157pp, 36 sections, 235 theorem-class environments, 59 bibitems. The supplement gives a finite-regime reconstruction of the Hilbert–Born formalism from APF's enforcement-substance primitives: complex Hilbert space, the Born trace rule, tensor products, CPTP dynamics, and measurement as record-locking, all derived rather than postulated. Headline result. The Hilbert–Born endpoint is licensed by a chain of finite, certifiable gates traceable to a single APF primitive — closed-world ledger conservation paired with no-phantom-records. The framework derives what canonical quantum-reconstruction programs (Hardy 2001; Chiribella–D'Ariano–Perinotti 2011; Masanes–Müller 2011; Barnum–Wilce 2014) postulate. Core spine (sections in order): Quantum Admissibility Condition (QAC) — produced at branch-(IJC) record-complete coherent interfaces; coherent continuations whose Boolean record-locking incurs strictly positive preservation distortion. Branch taxonomy Sepstr / Sepadm / IJCstr / IJCadm / IJCpres / Seppres with forced inclusions Sepadm ⇒ Sepstr, IJCstr ⇒ IJCadm, and explicit anti-conflation: capacity-only failure (Sepstr + IJCadm) is structurally classical and does NOT trigger QAC. Operational radical via no-phantom-record quotient — every element of the operational radical does no record-distinguishing work and is quotient-eliminable; a Wedderburn bridge identifies ϱop = Jac(𝒜) under stable-simple completeness. Finite matrix-sector representation — the faithful semisimple quotient enters a finite ⊕-of-matrix-blocks structure via Artin–Wedderburn applied to the closed-world quotient. Field selection by SPLIT closed-world composite gates — APF-complete composite closure decomposes into two independently-derivable conditions: (i) finite tensor closure (rules out ℍ structurally because Mn(ℍ) ⊗ℝ Mm(ℍ) ≅ M2nm(ℝ), not quaternionic), and (ii) finite tomographic locality (rules out ℝ via Wootters–Hardy local-marginal parameter count: 2×2 joint dimension 10 < locally-reconstructible 15). ℂ is the unique field passing both legs; the selection is a conjunction of independently-derivable conditions, not a single black-box axiom. Born trace rule ⟨E, ρ⟩ = Tr(ρE) — every positive linear functional on Mn(ℂ) is a density-matrix-and-effect pairing; trace-rule positivity is licensed by upstream cone-preservation. Gate-certified Hilbert–Born pipeline — composite meta-theorem: four gates (positivity preservation under quotient + closed-ledger reciprocity + operational-radical-equals-Jacobson + split closed-world complex selection) jointly license the H–B endpoint. Each gate is independently necessary; no single gate is redundant. If any gate fails, the framework stops at the corresponding fallback rather than silently importing quantum formalism. The derivation chain. The standard "regime gates" — reciprocal calibration → self-duality + adjoint, stable simple-record completeness, APF-complete finite composite closure → ℂ selection — are not independent postulates. They are joint consequences of closed-world ledger conservation + no-phantom-records: Tclosed-ledger reciprocity derives reciprocal calibration → adjoint from no-hidden-debt symmetric pairing B(p, m) = ∑ pi mi on a finite ledger; the adjoint is the swap partner under B, not a postulated involution. Tno-phantom-record quotient + Toperational-radical-equals-Jacobson derive stable simple-record completeness on 𝒜 = ℝ[x]/(x3), giving a quotient 𝒜/(x) ≅ ℝ that is semisimple and eligible for matrix-sector classification. Tsplit-closed-world-complex-selection derives ℂ-selection through the explicit split into tensor closure + tomographic locality. Six countermodels and red-team. Explicit countermodels for Weinberg non-linear quantum mechanics, real-amplitude QM, Bohmian mechanics, Kochen–Specker hidden variables, GRW/CSL collapse, quaternionic QM. Red-team analyses for the three paper-specific hypotheses (H1 coherent-distinction closure, H2 tensor-product admissibility, H3 spectral-action compatibility). Finite Closure as the Unified Primitive: Emergence of Quantum Mechanics, Discrete Gravity, and Relativistic Structure (Paper 3)

Joe Bloggs

Finite Closure as the Unified Primitive: Emergence of Quantum Mechanics, Discrete Gravity, and Relativistic Structure (Paper 3) Abstract This paper completes the structural programme initiated in Reality is What Misspoken Language Cannot Deliver (Rev18) by deriving quantum mechanics, discrete gravity, and relativistic structure from a single finite reversible closure substrate. The previous Rev18 paper established the geometric scaffolding; finite distinguishable states under entropy bounds, closure algebra as primitive, holonomy defect curvature and Regge type discrete gravity converging conditionally to the Einstein / Hilbert action. The present work supplies the representation scaffolding. From finite reversible closure and amplitude additivity, we show that a linear state container is forced. Invariant comparability uniquely selects an inner-product structure. Local tomography selects the complex field, excluding real and quaternionic fundamental scalars under standard composition. The Born rule arises as the unique non-contextual additive measure on projectors consistent with unitary invariance. Tensor composition yields entanglement and operator norm geometry enforces the Tsirelson bound, excluding PR-box correlations within the closure derived Hilbert structure. On the geometric side, closure defects embed into weighted Regge curvature via holonomy-conjugacy classes. Under standard refinement conditions (bounded curvature, non-degenerate simplices) the Regge action converges to the Einstein / Hilbert action. Local Minkowski structure appears as the vanishing-curvature tangent limit. Closure is taken as more primitive than both unitary and “Lorentzian, these are representation languages for different compressions of the same finite reversible substrate. No dual ontology is introduced. Introduction Modern physics employs two highly successful but linguistically separated frameworks; quantum Hilbert structure and Lorentzian spacetime geometry. Their mathematical forms are well established, yet their joint ontological status remains debated. In Reality is What Misspoken Language Cannot Deliver (Rev18). Reality is What Misspoken Language a closure-first ontology was developed in which;- Bounded entropy per bounded region excludes primitive continuum; Finite distinguishable regional states form the primitive substrate; Deterministic, composable, reversible updates form a closure group; Closure defects correspond to holonomy elements; Weighted hinge sums reproduce Regge discrete curvature and Under refinement assumptions, the discrete action converges to Einstein / Hilbert. The prior Rev18 paper therefore provided the geometric scaffolding; discrete gravity from finite closure. The present paper extends that scaffolding upward into the quantum representation layer. It asks: If finite reversible closure is primitive, what state representation is forced when coherent overlap is admitted? The answer is not assumed but derived;- Amplitude additivity forces linear structure; Invariant comparability forces inner product geometry; Local tomography selects the complex field; Non-contextual additive projector measures yield the Born rule; Tensor composition yields entanglement and Operator-norm structure enforces Tsirelson rigidity. Thus the same primitive closure substrate underwrites: Finite reversible closure;- Complex Hilbert representation Born rule Tsirelson bound Weighted Regge curvature Einstein / Hilbert limit Local special relativity Unitary and Lorentzian structures emerge as representation languages of the same finite closure primitive.

Quantum Mechanics as Reversible Closure Representation and the Emergence of Relativistic Structure (Paper 2)

Joe Bloggs

Quantum Mechanics as Reversible Closure Representation and the Emergence of Relativistic Structure (Paper 2) Abstract This work develops a representation-theoretic extension of the closure-first discrete gravity framework established in Reality is What Misspoken Language Cannot Deliver (Rev17). Starting from finite primitive state spaces and reversible closure algebra, we construct a unitary representation of the closure group on a complex Hilbert space. Quantum evolution arises naturally as the continuous representation of discrete reversible transitions, with phase structure determined by restoration periods. Defect transport within the closure algebra yields dispersion relations that recover relativistic propagation in the macroscopic limit. Local flatness emerges as the tangent limit of the discrete curvature substrate, giving Special Relativity as a local geometric approximation of the underlying simplicial structure. General Relativity appears as the coarse-grained curvature density of defect-labelled simplicial geometry, preserving the Einstein field equations within their established effective domain of validity. Quantum mechanics is therefore not postulated independently, but arises as the representation layer of reversible finite closure, while relativistic structure emerges from geometric coarse-graining of the same primitive algebra. No new macroscopic gravitational equations are introduced; the present work concerns the structural origin of existing relativistic frameworks rather than their modification. Introduction In the preceding work (Rev17), finite entropy bounds were shown to exclude primitive continuum ontology and to imply a finite state space for bounded physical regions. Under assumptions of deterministic closure, no primitive erasure, and inverse realisability, the reversible sector of primitive transitions forms a group. Defect labels associated with group elements define discrete curvature quanta, which embed naturally into a Regge-type geometric framework. A minimal continuum-limit argument yields the Einstein–Hilbert action under refinement. Importantly, this construction does not alter the Einstein field equations at macroscopic scales. General Relativity remains valid within its established regime as an effective continuum description. The prior work addresses the structural substrate from which that continuum description emerges. The present work extends this foundation by addressing two remaining structural questions: How does quantum mechanics arise from finite reversible closure? How does relativistic kinematics emerge from the same primitive structure? Rather than introducing Hilbert space or Lorentz symmetry axiomatically, we derive them as representation and coarse-graining layers of the previously established closure algebra. The guiding principle is minimal structural extension: no new primitive entities are introduced. All additional structure follows from representation consistency and macroscopic limit coherence. Quantum theory appears as the unitary representation of reversible closure; relativistic structure emerges as the geometric compression of defect-labelled algebra under scale separation. Quantum Records, Definite Outcomes, and the Born Rule from Finite Accessibility - The Measurement Completion of the Operational Framework

Paul Cooney

Papers I and II derived gravitational geometry and second-order dynamics from finite accessibility without invoking measurement, observation protocols, or collapse as primitive notions. This paper extends the operational program to the measurement sector, deriving the structure of record formation and probabilistic weights from the same finite accessibility and compositional constraints. Finite accessibility restricts admissible operations on a subsystem to a proper operator subalgebra. Because bounded certification excludes operators requiring nonlocal coordination or arbitrarily fine phase resolution, the accessible algebra is strictly smaller than the full operator algebra. When a system becomes correlated with orthogonal environment sectors, off-diagonal operators between those sectors fall outside the accessible algebra. The reduced state is therefore indistinguishable, under all admissible operations, from its diagonal ensemble. Definiteness emerges as an algebraic consequence of sector restriction, not as a collapse postulate. The weights of these sectors are fixed uniquely by compositional consistency. Phase invariance, multiplicativity under independent refinement, and stability under record coarse-graining constrain any admissible assignment of sector weights to satisfy a functional equation whose only continuous, non-contextual solution is quadratic in amplitude. The Born rule therefore arises as the unique invariant measure compatible with finite accessibility. Irreversibility follows from action scaling: reversal requires operators outside the admissible tensor algebra and incurs action cost proportional to the number of correlated subsystems. Since admissible operations are bounded by the action gap, macroscopic record reversal is excluded. Measurement introduces no new physical primitives beyond finite accessibility, locality, and compositional stability. Record formation, classical definiteness, and Born probabilities are structural consequences of algebraic restriction under finite accessibility. **This paper is part of the Finite Accessibility series, which reconstructs gravitational geometry, quantum dynamics, gauge structure, cosmological perturbation theory, and the dark sector from a single operational primitive: a finite certification ceiling ω* governing the maximum rate at which physical relations can be maintained across extended domains.** **Introductory papers** - Geometric Limits to Coherent Timekeeping in Extended Reference Frames — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824556 - Accessibility Selection Law (ASL) — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824649 - Phase Boundary Gravity — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18824707 **Pillars (numbered I–IV)** - Paper I: Deriving Gravitational Geometry and Schrödinger Dynamics from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18601600 - Paper II: Deriving Inertia, Motion, and Wave Propagation from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18625174 - Paper III: Accessible State Spaces, Record Stability, and the Emergence of Quantum Statistics — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18625192 - Paper IV: Frame Dissolution, the Certification Ceiling, and Observable Deformations — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654458 **Extension papers** - Dark Matter from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654433 - Dark Energy from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654523 - No-Go Theorems and the Admissibility Corridor — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18654493 - Gauge Structure from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18928152 - Perturbation Theory from Finite Accessibility — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18928213 **Experimental paper** - Experimental Probes of Finite Accessibility: GW Dispersion and Vacuum Path Independence — https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18931126 **Keywords:** Born rule derivation, measurement problem, quantum statistics, finite accessibility, operator subalgebra, record formation, definiteness emergence, wave function collapse, compositional consistency, accessible state spaces, action gap, irreversibility, sector restriction, quantum foundations, algebraic quantum mechanics, decoherence

Technical Supplement to Paper 5 of the Admissibility Physics Framework (APF), Quantum Structure as Least-Cost Admissible Bookkeeping. v5.97 (April 2026), 157pp, 36 sections, 235 theorem-class environments, 59 bibitems. The supplement gives a finite-regime reconstruction of the Hilbert–Born formalism from APF's enforcement-substance primitives: complex Hilbert space, the Born trace rule, tensor products, CPTP dynamics, and measurement as record-locking, all derived rather than postulated. Headline result. The Hilbert–Born endpoint is licensed by a chain of finite, certifiable gates traceable to a single APF primitive — closed-world ledger conservation paired with no-phantom-records. The framework derives what canonical quantum-reconstruction programs (Hardy 2001; Chiribella–D'Ariano–Perinotti 2011; Masanes–Müller 2011; Barnum–Wilce 2014) postulate. Core spine (sections in order): Quantum Admissibility Condition (QAC) — produced at branch-(IJC) record-complete coherent interfaces; coherent continuations whose Boolean record-locking incurs strictly positive preservation distortion. Branch taxonomy Sepstr / Sepadm / IJCstr / IJCadm / IJCpres / Seppres with forced inclusions Sepadm ⇒ Sepstr, IJCstr ⇒ IJCadm, and explicit anti-conflation: capacity-only failure (Sepstr + IJCadm) is structurally classical and does NOT trigger QAC. Operational radical via no-phantom-record quotient — every element of the operational radical does no record-distinguishing work and is quotient-eliminable; a Wedderburn bridge identifies ϱop = Jac(𝒜) under stable-simple completeness. Finite matrix-sector representation — the faithful semisimple quotient enters a finite ⊕-of-matrix-blocks structure via Artin–Wedderburn applied to the closed-world quotient. Field selection by SPLIT closed-world composite gates — APF-complete composite closure decomposes into two independently-derivable conditions: (i) finite tensor closure (rules out ℍ structurally because Mn(ℍ) ⊗ℝ Mm(ℍ) ≅ M2nm(ℝ), not quaternionic), and (ii) finite tomographic locality (rules out ℝ via Wootters–Hardy local-marginal parameter count: 2×2 joint dimension 10 < locally-reconstructible 15). ℂ is the unique field passing both legs; the selection is a conjunction of independently-derivable conditions, not a single black-box axiom. Born trace rule ⟨E, ρ⟩ = Tr(ρE) — every positive linear functional on Mn(ℂ) is a density-matrix-and-effect pairing; trace-rule positivity is licensed by upstream cone-preservation. Gate-certified Hilbert–Born pipeline — composite meta-theorem: four gates (positivity preservation under quotient + closed-ledger reciprocity + operational-radical-equals-Jacobson + split closed-world complex selection) jointly license the H–B endpoint. Each gate is independently necessary; no single gate is redundant. If any gate fails, the framework stops at the corresponding fallback rather than silently importing quantum formalism. The derivation chain. The standard "regime gates" — reciprocal calibration → self-duality + adjoint, stable simple-record completeness, APF-complete finite composite closure → ℂ selection — are not independent postulates. They are joint consequences of closed-world ledger conservation + no-phantom-records: Tclosed-ledger reciprocity derives reciprocal calibration → adjoint from no-hidden-debt symmetric pairing B(p, m) = ∑ pi mi on a finite ledger; the adjoint is the swap partner under B, not a postulated involution. Tno-phantom-record quotient + Toperational-radical-equals-Jacobson derive stable simple-record completeness on 𝒜 = ℝ[x]/(x3), giving a quotient 𝒜/(x) ≅ ℝ that is semisimple and eligible for matrix-sector classification. Tsplit-closed-world-complex-selection derives ℂ-selection through the explicit split into tensor closure + tomographic locality. Six countermodels and red-team. Explicit countermodels for Weinberg non-linear quantum mechanics, real-amplitude QM, Bohmian mechanics, Kochen–Specker hidden variables, GRW/CSL collapse, quaternionic QM. Red-team analyses for the three paper-specific hypotheses (H1 coherent-distinction closure, H2 tensor-product admissibility, H3 spectral-action compatibility).
