CONJECTURE PAPER. The preceding localized-kernel paper derived the FORM of the Born distribution |psi|^2 from the reproducing-kernel property of a constant-amplitude odd-harmonic isolated peak wave S_N, leaving the 'existence of randomness' as an open postulate. Here we conjecture a mechanism for that origin: the scan variable phi0 is not free but the OBSERVER'S phase; since the observer is a physical object of finite frequency with no absolute phase reference (subjective-space premise), the measurement sequence scans the observer-system relative phase (beat/heterodyne) (nu-psi)t, which equidistributes (Weyl) for an irrational ratio. The logic is two-stage. (I) Conditionally proven core: reproducing kernel (proven) gives a deterministic read (pi/2)psi(phi0) at each phi0; granting equidistribution (assumption O1), the position-resolved intensity-profile SHAPE = |psi_base|^2. Role separation: Weyl supplies only a uniform measure (no bias); the |psi|^2 weight is the deterministic kernel read; the intensity->single-click step is the bridge. (II) Conjectured bridge (intensity -> single-click probability via threshold detection, lineage A), NOT derived. Both input cases (localized vs spread) are derived from the same kernel (output difference = input difference only), with a falsification battery that all four consistency conditions pass. The conjecture sits at the intersection of Khrennikov's PCSFT + threshold detection and the method of arbitrary functions (Poincare-Feintzeig), with a falsifiable finite-N (O(1/N)~l/R) Born-rule deviation. Verification code reproduces the numerical claims to machine precision. Not a derivation of the Born rule nor a solution of the measurement problem.
We regard the constant-amplitude odd-harmonic sum S_N (isolated peak wave) on the half-wavelength phase interval as the localized kernel of observation, and adopt two premises: (i) observation is the convolution of the kernel with phase differences and the probability is the square of the observed amplitude; (ii) phase differences finer than the band are ignored (finite-N truncation). Because S_N is the truncated reproducing kernel of the odd-harmonic basis on this interval, the observed amplitude reproduces any band-limited base wave without distortion, and the observed distribution coincides exactly with |psi|^2 (after normalization). For a complex base wave the squaring becomes a genuine modulus |Z|^2 = Z conj(Z) (not Z^2), reaching the real-imaginary cross structure of the Born square. The paper derives the FORM of the distribution (faithful reproduction by the reproducing-kernel property); the squaring rule and the probability interpretation remain postulates. It does not claim to derive the Born rule or solve the measurement problem; rather it reduces the remaining postulates to the squaring rule and the existence of randomness. The reproducing-kernel identity itself is a classical fact of Fourier analysis (Dirichlet kernel / RKHS); the novelty is the mapping between the physical localized wave, its reproducing kernel, and the observation model. All results are reproduced to machine precision by the accompanying verification code.
A post-publication literature survey supplementing the Observer-System Beat conjecture (Concept DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20967081). Within the range surveyed, no prior work proposes/tests/observes the same beat + irrational-ratio Weyl-equidistribution mechanism for the emergence of Born statistics. Prior programs sharing the problem-consciousness (La Cour-Williamson; Khrennikov PCSFT; method of arbitrary functions) and adjacent work (Conlon et al. coherent-LO Born test; t Hooft cellular automaton) are organized by possible relation. Atomic-clock metrology is identified as the natural testbed, but the discriminating measurement (single-shot projection statistics as a function of commensurability at fixed relative phase) is, within the range surveyed, not performed. Bilingual (Japanese/English). The logical connection to the preceding paper is left as future work; no claim of mechanism identity or experimental confirmation is made.
This paper synthesizes the four standard postulates of quantum mechanics — (i) state as Hilbert-space vector, (ii) observables as self-adjoint operators, (iii) Born rule for probabilities, (iv) unitary evolution + projective measurement — under the Event Density (ED) substrate participation measure P_K = b_K e^{iπ_K} (Paper_U1) and the V1/V5 kernel calculus. ED is a 13-primitive generative substrate ontology in the lineage of 't Hooft, Wolfram, and the causal-set program. The synthesis is explicitly compositional, not reductive: each postulate traces to a distinct primitive route — Postulate I to P02 via the participation measure, Postulate II to Stone's theorem on substrate translation groups P03 / P13, Postulate III to the P04 bandwidth-to-probability identification (Paper_002 Born-Gleason), Postulate IV to P11 commitment-irreversibility supplying both unitary-evolution direction and measurement collapse. The structural payoff is that the four standard postulates, often presented as independent axioms in textbook QM, become four facets of one substrate-level structure: states and observables share the participation-measure origin; Born rule is the substrate-level identification of |P_K|² with empirical frequency; unitary evolution and collapse share the P11 directional substrate flow. The paper is explicit that this is NOT a Hardy 2001 / CDP 2011 / Coecke-Kissinger-style closed-proof reconstruction of QM — those sit in the operational-reconstruction lineage; ED sits in the substrate-ontology lineage. Per-theorem substrate-derivation closure across the sixteen constituent Phase-1 theorems (Papers_002, 005, 006, 007, U1–U5, and companions) is OPEN; the synthesis is at verdict M2 (Intermediate Path C) per Paper_095. Numerical content (specific Hamiltonians, observable spectra, the value of ℏ) is INHERITED. Key falsifier F1: refutation of any constituent Phase-1 derivation propagates upward to refute the synthesis. This paper is the synthesis capstone of the Phase-1 QM-emergence program and provides the cleanest single statement of what ED has and has not established about the foundations of non-relativistic quantum mechanics.
One of the most successful, yet most puzzling, structures of quantum mechanics is Born's rule:P(\mathbf{x},t)=|\Psi(\mathbf{x},t)|^2.It establishes, with extraordinarily high experimental accuracy, the connection between the quantum wave function and the statistical distribution of actual measurement outcomes. Yet a more fundamental question remains worth asking: Why is probability given precisely by the modulus squared of the complex wave amplitude? Standard quantum mechanics uses Born's rule as a fundamental rule. This paper instead poses an open research question: Could Born's rule be not an irreducible probabilistic axiom, but a statistical emergence resulting from the combined action of continuous wave-amplitude superposition, quantized energy exchange, and local interaction dynamics? We propose a candidate physical picture:wave-amplitude superposition->spatial interference structure->local interaction->quantized energy exchange->discrete events}->probability distribution The central mathematical question is \Gamma(\mathbf{x})\stackrel{?}{\propto}|\Psi(\mathbf{x})|^2 where Γ(x) denotes the occurrence rate of localized discrete detection events. This paper does not claim to have completed such a derivation. Instead, it explicitly formulates the problem as an \textbf{open, computable, testable, and falsifiable research challenge}. We particularly invite young physicists, mathematicians, and researchers skilled in AI and modern computational tools to explore this problem.
The Born rule sits at the heart of quantum mechanics as an unexamined assumption: probabilities are fundamental. For a statistician, that is uncomfortable. Probabilities are tools for describing ignorance — so what, precisely, are we ignorant of? That question leads to a deeper one: what is measurement, really? If measurement is a physical event, something in the world must change when it happens — something records it. WF-S formalises this with two physical inputs and one Lagrangian. Postulate 1 (WF-S kernel): a complex amplitude field φ(x) couples to a real substrate field s(x) via L = Lφ + Ls − g|φ|²s. Postulate 2 (record condition): macroscopic outcomes are weighted by cumulative entropy export σi = ΔSenv,i/kB during record formation. The substrate carries the irreversible imprint of that record. The Schrödinger equation and the Born rule are not independent postulates: they are the same Lagrangian in two regimes, separated by the physical threshold of record formation. The Born rule emerges as the entropy-uniform limit of a more general selection rule — derivable, not assumed. The entropy increments σi are thermodynamic quantities, defined through physical irreversibility independently of any probability assignment. The arrow runs: physical event → thermodynamic σi → outcome weighting → Born rule. The framework makes falsifiable predictions. For two outcome channels, the log-odds shift is ln(P1/P2) = ln(|a1|²/|a2|²) + Δσeff, where Δσeff ≈ εη Δσeng, Δσeng is an independently calibrated entropy contrast and εη is an experimentally bounded suppression factor. Swap-symmetry of the tilt (F1), linear response in engineered entropy contrast (F2), universality of the coarse-graining parameter across platforms (F3), and exact Born recovery in the entropy-uniform limit (F4-F5) are testable on existing platforms independently of the numerical value of εη.This paper is the first in a five-paper series; the substrate framework developed here is extended to forces, gravity, cosmology, and a full information-geometric synthesis in Papers II–V."
What if the Born rule were not a postulate, but a theorem? Since 1926, the Born rule — which assigns probability ∣⟨φ∣ψ⟩∣2|\langle\varphi|\psi\rangle|^2 ∣⟨φ∣ψ⟩∣2 to a quantum measurement outcome — has been imposed as an axiom. No derivation from non-quantum premises is universally accepted: neither Bohm, Nelson, Valentini, nor Deutsch-Wallace has closed the debate. This paper proposes a radically new approach. Within the framework of the **Five-Dimensional Solitonic Theory (TS5D)** — an extended classical theory on the manifold M4×S1/Z6\mathcal{M}^4 \times S^1/\mathbb{Z}_6 M4×S1/Z6 —, we prove that the derivation of Born *reduces* to a hierarchized system of **two precise mathematical locks**: Technical lock: regularization of the Liouville measure on field-theoretic phase space (three routes identified: modal truncation, cylindrical measures, Gaussian regularization). Dynamical lock: Liouville–holonomy equivariance under soliton-apparatus interaction dynamics. If both locks are removed, Gleason's theorem automatically locks in the ∣ψ∣2|\psi|^2 ∣ψ∣2 form. Four partial results structure the program: Emergence of Hermitian structure via Noether U(1)U(1) U(1) — *established*. Identification of the 5D holonomy phase as a geometric hidden variable — structurally established. Preservation of the Liouville measure by Hamiltonian flow — classical. Gleason's theorem applied to the effective Hilbert space — established under conditions. Decisive contribution: Appendix E presents a Bernoulli reference model in which the full chain leading to Born is explicitly proved — strong mixing ⟹ exponential thresholds ⟹ rates Γk∝∣ck∣2\Gamma_k \propto |c_k|^2 Γk∝∣ck∣2 ⟹ pointer competition ⟹ P(k)=∣ck∣2\mathbb{P}(k) = |c_k|^2 P(k)=∣ck∣2. Numerical validation with Monte Carlo error ∼10−3\sim 10^{-3} ∼10−3 over 50,000 samples. Candidate experimental signatures distinguishing TS5D from standard quantum mechanics and from Bohm-Valentini: Topological mass splitting in ratios 13:15:17 2π/62\pi/6 2π/6 periodicity in Bell-type correlations Gaussian decay of CHSH visibility with spectral marking What this work claims to do: transform a vague question — "how does TS5D derive Born?" — into a precise, hierarchized mathematical problem, attackable by the standard tools of functional analysis and ergodic theory. Following Hilbert's tradition of structuring mathematics in 1900, this work proposes a theorematic reduction rather than a closure, and unambiguously identifies the remaining research directions. Compatibility with no-go theorems: Bell (5D geometric exit), Kochen-Specker (natural contextuality), PBR (ontic field in 5D) — all explicitly analyzed.
