The fundamental incompatibility between the linear, unitary evolution of quantum mechanics and the non-linear, deterministic geometry of General Relativity (GR) suggests a failure in our foundational assumptions regarding continuous spacetime and fixed macroscopic histories. In this paper, we demonstrate that the non-linearity of the Einstein Field Equations (EFE) and the apparent non-unitary collapse of the quantum wavefunction are dual manifestations of a single underlying principle: the preservation of relational algebraic rigidity across scales. We model spacetime usinga zero-dimensional Yang-Mills matrix framework where coordinates are non-commuting operators ([Xµ, Xν] = iθµν). We explicitly show how the failure of ultraviolet (UV) degrees of freedom todecouple—known as UV/IR mixing—dynamically forces the infrared (IR) effective action to adopt the non-linear curvature of the Einstein-Hilbert action. Extending this to Lorentzian signature introduces temporal non-commutativity ([X0, Xi] ̸= 0), which smears the effective propagator and inevitably violates strict time-ordering at the microscopic level. This non-local temporal smearing provides the exact mathematical foundation for Relational Retrocausal Quantum Mechanics(RRQM). Within RRQM, measurement is not a dynamical collapse, but a retroactive boundarycondition imposed upon the path integral, pruning the accessible history of the observer into global consistency. By synthesizing non-commutative geometry with RRQM’s Rewriting Postulate, we show that unitarity is equivalent to diffeomorphism invariance, successfully resolving the Wigner’sFriend paradox, Bell non-locality, and macroscopic superpositions without invoking many-worlds orhidden variables.

We demonstrate that when absolute unitary evolution of the wavefunction is enforced alongside the requirement of a single, self-consistent world, the standard quantum measurement problem dissolves. The resulting framework, Relational Retrocausal Quantum Mechanics (RRQM), requires that the state of any system is strictly relational, and that measurement retroactively rewrites the entire history of the wavefunction. By extending RRQM to incorporate Quantum Reference Frames (QRFs) and mapping them onto a doubly non-commutative phase-space matrix algebra, we derive exact continuous causality. We prove that the spatial ([Xµ,Xν] = iθµν) and momentum ([Pµ,Pν] = iBµν) non-commutativities dynamically deform the phase-space integration measure. This rigidity generates localized geometric stress upon measurement, mathematically inducing the non-linear curvature of the Einstein-Hilbert action. Furthermore, we provide a complete, gapless algebraic derivation proving that gravitational binding energy—the classical mass defect—emerges purely from the relational interaction between non-commutative momentum operators, establishing macroscopic gravity as a thermodynamic shadow of retrocausal constraints.
This paper proposes a theoretical framework—Relational Theory—based on dynamic relational networks, in which discrete spacetime serves as the fundamental ontology, while continuous geometry and gravity emerge as macroscopic statistical phenomena. This framework unifies the description of matter, spacetime, and gravity, aiming to bridge the theoretical divide between quantum field theory and general relativity, while providing a discrete spacetime physical substrate for the orthodox prob abilistic interpretation of quantum mechanics. The fundamental ontology of the universe is defined as the evolution of a dynamic relational network, where nodes represent fundamental quantum units of space, edges correspond to adjacency relations between units, and matter manifests as complex probability amplitude excitation modes propagating on the network. The framework is built upon two foundational axioms: the matter field undergoes unitary evolution driven by the graph Lapla cian operator, and the network topology dynamically reconfigures in response to the matter energy density, with links undergoing continuous generation and decay, while matter evolution exhibits the discrete alternating character of “annihilation here, creation there.”Under the mean-field continuum limit, the two axioms respectively evolve into a Schr¨odinger equation describing matter propagation in curved space and a link density equation characterizing the response of spacetime geometry to matter distribution. These two sets of equations form a self-consistent feedback mechanism in which matter and spacetime geometry mutually constrain each other. The study demonstrates that grav ity is not a fundamental interaction, but rather a statistical emergent entropic force driven by the inhomogeneous spatial distribution of network link density. This paper further proposes a dynamic relational network interpretation, circumventing the collapse paradox of the Copenhagen interpreta tion, the universe-splitting problem of the many-worlds interpretation, and the non-locality dilemma of hidden variable theories. It provides an underlying topological explanation for wave function evo lution, the measurement problem, and the origin of quantum probability. The laws of black hole thermodynamics and the fundamentals of the holographic principle can all be reasonably explained within this microscopic topological framework. The paper systematically verifies the mathematical self-consistency of the model, distinguishes rigorously derived conclusions from conjectures awaiting verification, and demonstrates the feasible pathways for numerical simulation tests and astronomical observational corroboration.
We develop a complete geometric framework in which each quantum particle possesses its own private spacetime—a world-block—constructed from Fermi–Walker coordinates. The intrinsic spatial metric on each proper-time slice is a dynamical field governed by an action with a universal stiffness constant A0. A single world-block exhibits kinematic non-locality: the metric perturbation at a point depends on the entire wavefunction through an integral relation, while maintaining dynamic locality via causal wave equations. This duality captures the essential non-locality of quantum mechanics without violating relativistic causality. When two particles interact, their world-blocks are stitched along a common boundary, forming a single compound world-block in ordinary four-dimensional spacetime. The stitching imposes local matching conditions that yield a non-separable strain field, providing a geometric account of quantum entanglement. Measurements correspond to fixing boundary conditions on one part of the compound block; the correlated outcome on the distant part is automatically determined by the shared global geometry, not by any superluminal signal. Thus, the apparent non-locality of EPR correlations is explained as a manifestation of geometric connectivity within a single 4D manifold, consistent with Bell’s theorem because the geometry itself is non-local. In the continuum limit of many overlapping blocks, coarse-graining restores an effective local description, and Newton’s law of universal gravitation emerges exactly, with Newton’s constant given by G = 3c4/(8πA0). The model offers a unified, deterministic, and fully relativistic foundation for quantum mechanics and gravity, without invoking extra dimensions or stochastic elements. Experimental signatures in ultrafast interferometry and possible connections to dark energy are discussed. The framework aligns with recent developments in emergent gravity and provides a concrete geometric realization of spacetime from quantum entanglement.
We investigate the unitarity of quantum evolution relative to an internal time defined by a local observer's clock. The observer is modeled as a relativistic particle carrying both a clock and a matter-field detector, analyzed first on a fixed curved background and subsequently within a fully diffeomorphism-invariant theory of dynamical gravity. In the former case, we find that evolution with respect to the internal clock time is generally nonunitary, implying a violation of the Einstein equivalence principle at the quantum level. In contrast, in the latter case, diffeomorphism invariance allows us to adopt observer-centric coordinates without loss of generality. On the resulting partially-reduced phase space, one of the diffeomorphism generators becomes linear in the clock Hamiltonian, generating a relational evolution that is consistent with the remaining diffeomorphism constraints. Assuming that an effective quantum field theory exists to be consistent with the diffeomorphism invariance, these features ensure unitary evolution relative to the internal clock, thereby preserving the equivalence principle even in the quantum regime. Our results highlight the fundamental role of diffeomorphism invariance in shaping relational unitary evolution from the perspective of a local observer.
The persistent challenge of unifying quantum mechanics with general relativity is often traced to a series of apparent structural tensions: complex versus real ontology, probabilistic versus deterministic dynamics, linear versus nonlinear evolution, and spectral discreteness versus geometric continuity. We argue that these tensions do not signal a fundamental incompatibility between the theories, but rather originate from surplus structure in the conventional formulation of quantum mechanics. The term unification is used in a structural sense, referring to compatibility of quantum dynamics with classical field theory rather than a modification of general relativity. Beginning from the physically indispensable requirement of matter stability, we prove that the Hamiltonian spectrum can always be shifted to become non-negative. The consequent positivity of energy enforces one-sided temporal frequency support for all physical unitary orbits. Equivalently, all scalar temporal components of physical states arise as boundary values of functions analytic in the lower half of the complex time plane, selecting the Hardy space—or, more generally, analytic tempered distributions—as the admissible solution space. In these spaces, the real and imaginary parts of the wave function are not independent; they are linked uniquely via the temporal Hilbert transform. Hence, the complex structure of quantum mechanics emerges as a representational artifact of an underlying real operator algebra. Building on our earlier work on Unified Quantum Mechanics and the Unified Real Wave Equation, we establish a rigorous proof of exact equivalence between the real-field evolution and the Schr\"odinger equation on the physical subspace. Probabilistic quantities arise naturally as quadratic invariants of analytic signals, rather than as independent postulates. We further show that quantum spectral discreteness arises from operator-theoretic confinement and boundary conditions on a smooth spacetime manifold, and does not imply any fundamental discreteness of spacetime. The resulting framework provides a real-field formulation of quantum mechanics and gravitation, with stability and causality implemented as foundational principles, and demonstrates that the Einstein field equations are compatible with a unified field-theoretic description of spacetime and matter. Extending the same analyticity principle to spacetime geometry, we propose an analytic formulation of the Einstein field equations, from which classical general relativity is recovered exactly as the real projection.
Quantum mechanics is traditionally formulated using the reversible coordinate time t, which enforces a globally reversible unitary group structure and time‑symmetric propagators. This conflicts with physically irreversible processes such as decoherence, measurement, entropy production, causal propagation, and curvature‑driven focusing in general relativity. We resolve this mismatch by replacing t with the monotonic temporal field T, previously developed in the context of global causal structure, temporal focusing, and worldline ordering in curved spacetime. Once T is taken as the fundamental evolution parameter, quantum dynamics cannot be reversible: the inverse operator U−1 is not physically realizable, and unitary evolution becomes a forward‑directed semigroup. We formulate **forward unitarity**, in which physical evolution is generated only by forward‑directed operators Uphys(T2,T1) with T2>T1. Pure states evolve according to a forward Schrödinger equation with an intrinsic, monotonic decoherence functional D(T), while mixed states evolve under a forward Lindblad structure. Probability is conserved, but coherent recoverability is forbidden by geometric irreversibility, causal structure, and temporal focusing. We construct a Forward‑QM Lagrangian, a forward Heisenberg picture, and a forward path integral restricted to histories with non‑decreasing T, showing how operator algebras, propagators, correlation functions, and creation/annihilation operators inherit the arrow of time. Forward‑QM provides a unified, forward‑directed formulation of quantum mechanics compatible with general relativity, causal geometry, and the irreversible structure of spacetime. It replaces reversible unitary groups with physically meaningful semigroup evolution, aligns quantum dynamics with measurement, decoherence, and entropy production, and establishes the foundation for Forward Quantum Field Theory (FQFT). The extension to FQFT—covering forward propagators, interacting fields, renormalization in the presence of monotonic decoherence, and causal compatibility in curved spacetime—will be developed in future work.
