Gravitational effects on a dissipative two-level atom in the weak-field regime

Kaito Kashiwagi, Akira Matsumura

We investigate the dissipative dynamics of a two-level atom in a weak gravitational field. Using the Feynman--Vernon influence functional formalism, we derive a quantum master equation describing the two-level atom interacting with a scalar field in a Newtonian gravitational field, and compute the energy dissipation rate of the atom. We find that the spontaneous emission rate (the dissipation rate in vacuum) is modified by the gravitational field. Specifically, this modification depends on the atom's dipole, the position of the atom relative to the source of the gravitational field, and the frequency of the scalar radiation emitted by the atom. Furthermore, we identify the parameter regimes in which the spontaneous emission rate is enhanced or suppressed by gravity. We also discuss how the modification arises from time dilation and dipole radiation in a weak gravitational field. These findings provide a theoretical basis for exploring gravitational effects in open quantum systems.

The effect of the classical driving field on the dynamics of entanglement of two qubits interacting with two dissipative cavities

Alireza Nourmandipour

In this article, we first introduce a system consisting of two dissipative cavities, in each of which there is a two-level atom. Each of the atoms is under the influence of a classical laser field, which causes the displacement of their energy levels. The correlation between two cavities is given by the field-field interaction term. We use the Gardiner-Collet model to describe the dissipation in this research. After introducing the Hamiltonian of the system, we simplify the Hamiltonian by using the Fano technique and introducing two sets of new operators. Also, with introducing the atomic bare bases, the Hamiltonian of the system will become a solvable form. Then, by using the technique of Laplace transforms, we solve the time-dependent Schrödinger equation and find the explicit form of the system's wave function at every moment of time. Having the wave function of the atom-atom system and using the concurrence criterion, we investigate the entanglement dynamics of the system in two strong and weak interaction regimes corresponding to the non-Markovian and Markovian regimes. The results show that there will be no stable state of entanglement in this system. We will also show that the classical laser field will play a constructive role in maintaining the initial entanglement as well as the generated entanglement.

Coherent perfect absorption in a quantum nonlinear regime of cavity quantum electrodynamics

Yang-hua Wei, Wen-ju Gu, Guoqing Yang +2 more

Coherent perfect absorption (CPA) is investigated in the quantum nonlinear regime of cavity quantum electrodynamics (CQED), in which a single two-level atom couples to a single-mode cavity weakly driven by two identical laser fields. In the strong-coupling regime and due to the photon blockade effect, the weakly driven CQED system can be described as a quantum system with three polariton states. CPA is achieved at a critical input field strength when the frequency of the input fields matches the polariton transition frequency. In the quantum nonlinear regime, the incoherent dissipation processes such as atomic and photon decays place a lower bound for the purity of the intracavity quantum field. Our results show that under the CPA condition, the intracavity field always exhibits the quadrature squeezing property manifested by the quantum nonlinearity, and the outgoing photon flux displays the super-Poissonian distribution.
