Abstract

Microwave circuits play a crucial role in modern communication systems, with nonlinearities being a critical aspect of their operation. The advent of continuous-variable quantum computation has opened new avenues for modelling and analyzing such circuits, offering promising solutions to longstanding challenges. In this study, we leverage continuous-variable quantum computation techniques to model, analyze, and design nonlinear microwave circuits. We develop novel methodologies that harness the power of quantum algorithms to simulate the behavior of complex microwave circuits accurately. Our work contributes to the intersection of microwave engineering and quantum computation by offering innovative approaches for understanding nonlinear behavior in microwave circuits. We bridge the gap between theoretical quantum concepts and practical microwave circuit design, enabling more efficient and reliable circuit implementations. Through simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed methodologies in accurately capturing the nonlinear behavior of microwave circuits. Our findings showcase significant improvements in circuit performance, paving the way for advanced designs with enhanced functionality and efficiency.

Title: Adaptive Quantum Circuit Design for Optimization

Jincheng Zhang

Quantum computing promises revolutionary advancements in optimization, particularly in complex search spaces and machine learning. However, designing optimal quantum circuits for these tasks presents significant challenges, largely due to the inherent variability of problem landscapes. This research proposes a novel adaptive quantum circuit design methodology leveraging meta-learning to dynamically adjust circuit parameters based on the characteristics of the optimization problem. We introduce a meta-learning framework that learns optimal circuit configurations from a representative set of problem instances, enabling the circuit to adapt to the unique properties of each new problem. The core mechanism centers around a feedback loop that continuously assesses the circuit's performance and adjusts parameters to improve solution quality. This approach aims to overcome the limitations of traditional fixed-parameter circuit design, offering a path towards more robust and efficient optimization solutions. This work explores the potential for significant improvements in solution quality across a range of benchmark problems, demonstrating the efficacy of the proposed adaptive design strategy.

Applications of Vedic Computing for Quantum Computing

Suthikshn Kumar

This paper investigates the intriguing potential of integrating Vedic Computing—a system of computing principles originating from ancient Indian texts—into the realm of quantum computing. While quantum computing offers unprecedented computational capabilities, leveraging ancient vedic wisdom could pave the way for enhanced efficiency and novel solutions.Through a comprehensive exploration, we examine the application of Vedic computing techniques in various facets of quantum computing. Firstly, we delve into algorithm development, exploring how Vedic sutras and computational methods could inspire the creation of quantum algorithms with improved speed and scalability. Secondly, we investigate the role of Vedic computing in quantum error correction. Given the inherent fragility of quantum states, robust error correction mechanisms are crucial for the reliability of quantum computers. We explore the potential of Vedic principles to contribute to the development of innovative error correction codes and strategies. Furthermore, we explore the intersection of Vedic number theory and quantum cryptography. With the advent of quantum computing, conventional cryptographic methods face threats from quantum algorithms like Shor's algorithm. We investigate how Vedic insights into number theory could inform the design of quantum-resistant cryptographic protocols.Additionally, we consider the application of Vedic optimization techniques in quantum computing. Quantum computers excel at solving optimization problems, and incorporating Vedic optimization principles could further enhance their performance in diverse domains such as logistics, finance, and artificial intelligence. Through theoretical analysis and computational simulations, we demonstrate the potential synergies between Vedic Computing and quantum computing. This interdisciplinary approach not only enriches the understanding of both fields but also opens new avenues for exploration and innovation at the intersection of ancient wisdom and modern technology.

Nonlinear modelling of superconducting devices and circuits

S. Withington, Philippa R Kennedy

Recent progress in the development of techniques for fabricating high-quality superconducting components, together with major advances in the theoretical understanding of quantum detection and mixing at millimetre and submillimetre wavelengths, have made the development of CAD tools for superconducting nonlinear circuits an important and exciting challenge. As a first step towards developing general purpose CAD techniques, the authors have devised algorithms, and written, in the C programming language, modular software for analysing the large-signal, small-signal and noise behaviour of quasiparticle tunnel-junction circuits. At present, they are using the software to study the complex behaviour of SIS mixers, however, the software can also be used for studying other modes of operation, and other tunnelling structures for which macroscopic quantum effects are important. >

Nonlinear Optics Quantum Computation and Quantum Simulation with Circuit-QED

Prabin Adhikari

Superconducting quantum circuits are a promising approach for realizations of large scale quantum information processing and quantum simulations. The Josephson junction, which forms the basis of superconducting circuits, is the only known nonlinear non-dissipative circuit element, and its inherent nonlinearities have found many different applications. In this thesis I discuss specific implementations of these circuits. I show that strong two-photon nonlinearities can be induced by coupling photons in the microwave domain to Josephson nonlinearities. I then propose a method to simulate a parent Hamiltonian that can potentially be used to observe fractional quantum Hall states of light. I will also explore how superconducting circuits can be used to modify system-bath couplings to emulate a chemical potential for photons. Finally, I consider the limitations of devising a scheme to couple superconducting circuits to trapped ions, and consider the challenges for such hybrid approaches.
