Abstract

Abstract We investigate the quantum statistical and squeezing properties of radiation generated by a coherently driven three-level laser system coupled to a squeezed vacuum reservoir. The analysis is carried out using c-number Langevin equations for normally ordered operator moments, allowing a transparent description of the interplay among atomic coherence, coherent driving, and reservoir-induced correlations. We show that significant quadrature squeezing can be achieved under appropriate conditions, with the degree of squeezing strongly influenced by the linear gain coefficient of the squeezed-vacuum reservoir, the strength of the coherent driving, and the initial atomic preparation. In particular, we find that maximal initial atomic coherence alone does not lead to squeezing in the absence of coherent driving, highlighting the essential role of phase-sensitive amplification. The results further reveal a shift of optimal squeezing toward lower values of the atomic coherence parameter and higher values of the driving strength as the gain and reservoir squeezing increase. In addition, we demonstrate the coexistence of strong quadrature squeezing with super-Poissonian photon statistics, reflecting the distinct roles of phase-sensitive and intensity fluctuations. The squeezing spectrum is also analyzed to provide frequency-resolved insight into noise suppression, directly relevant to homodyne-detection measurements. These findings clarify the trade-off between coherent excitation, which enhances phase-sensitive correlations, and photon population growth, which tends to increase intensity fluctuations, and they highlight parameter regimes where strong nonclassical effects can be realized under parameter regimes consistent with experimentally demonstrated cavity-QED and squeezed-light implementations.

Photon Statistics and Quantum Properties of a Cascade Three-Level Atomic System Coupled to a Two-Mode Squeezed-Vacuum Reservoir in the Bad-Cavity Limit

Adagn Addisu Dabulo, Misrak Getahun

Abstract We investigate the steady-state photon statistics and quantum properties of a cascade three-level atom coupled to a two-mode squeezed-vacuum reservoir. The mean photon number, photon-number correlations, second-order coherence, and quadrature fluctuations are examined as functions of the stimulated-emission decay constant and the squeezing parameter. The system exhibits two distinct regimes: a squeezing-dominated regime, governed by reservoir-induced correlations, and a cavity-dynamics-dominated regime, characterized by strong gain–loss competition. Enhanced squeezing increases photon generation, intermodal correlations, and intracavity energy through correlated photon-pair injection while reducing vacuum fluctuations. Conversely, stronger stimulated emission induces nonlinear amplification, asymmetric photon distributions, and sequential emission dynamics. A transition from super-Poissonian to sub-Poissonian statistics is observed, indicating the coexistence of photon antibunching and continuous-variable quantum correlations. Furthermore, atom–cavity interactions modify the generalized uncertainty bounds, revealing fundamental limitations on achievable squeezing imposed by higher-order noise processes. These findings demonstrate that engineered reservoirs and cascade atomic systems provide versatile control of nonclassical light for quantum communication, precision metrology, and continuousvariable quantum information processing.

Lambda-type Three-Level Laser Coupled to Squeezed Vacuum Reservoir

Takele Teshome, Gomera Biyazn, Misrak Gatahun

The squeezing, entanglement, and statistical properties of light produced by lambda-type three-level laser coupled to squeezed vacuum reservoir have been studied. We have determined the quadrature variances mean as well as variance photon number photon for cavity modes with the aid of the solutions of c-number Langevin equations associated with the normal order. The results show that the light produced by the system under consideration in squeezed state. The squeezed vacuum reservoir enhances both the quadrature squeezing and mean photon numbers. In addition, the mean photon number of mode b is greater than that of a if more atoms injected with state |a>. We have calculated the quadrature variances of the cavity modes, the result shows that the light produced by the system under consideration is in squeezed state and the squeezing occurs in the minus quadrature. The result also shows that the effect of the squeezed vacuum reservoir is not only enhancing the degree of squeezing for the light modes but also to generate the photons for the system under consideration. The system produce entangled two mode light that increase with η and linear gain coefficient but decrease with squeezing parameters. The correlation function of the two modes decreases as η, the linear gain coefficient and increase with squeezing parameter.

Enhancement of Squeezing in a Coherently Driven Degenerate Three-Level Laser with a Closed Cavity

Tamirat Abebe

In this paper, we investigated the steady-state analysis of the squeezing and statistical properties of the light generated by N two-level atoms available in a closed cavity pumped by a coherent light with the cavity coupled to a singele mode vacuum reservoir. Here we consider the noise operators associated with the vacuum reservoir in normal order. Applying the solutions of the equations of evolution for the expectation values of the atomic operators and the quantum Langavin equations for the cavity mode operators, we obtain the mean photon number, the photon number variance, and the quadrature squeezing. The three-level laser generates squeezed light under certain conditions, with maximum global squeezing being 43%. Moreover, we found that the maximum local quadrature squeezing is 80:2% (and occurs at λ = 0:08). Furthermore, our results have shown that the local quadrature squeezing, unlike the local mean of the phonon number and photon number variance does not increase as the value of λ increases. It is also found that, unlike the mean photon number, the variance of the photon number, and the quadrature variance, the quadrature squeezing does not depend on the number of atoms. This implies that the quadrature squeezing of the two-mode cavity light is independent of the number of photons.

Entanglement amplification by three-level laser coupled to vacuum reservoir

Menisha Alemu, Tolessa, Fekadu, Birke Alemu

In this paper we have studied the squeezing and entanglement properties of the cavity light generated by a three-level laser. In this quantum optical system, N three-level atoms available in an open cavity, coupled to a two-mode vacuum reservoir, are pumped to the top level by means of electron bombardment at constant rate. Applying the solutions of the equations of evolution for the expectation values of the atomic operators and the quantum Langevin equations for the cavity mode operators, we have calculated the mean, variance of the photon number, the quadrature squeezing, entanglement amplification as well as the normalized second-order correlation function for the cavity light. In addition, we have shown that the presence of the spontaneous emission process leads to a decrease in the mean and variance of the photon number. We have observed that the two-mode cavity light is in a squeezed state and the squeezing occurs in the minus quadrature. In addition, we have found that the effect of the vacuum reservoir noise is to increase the photon-number variance and to decrease the quadrature squeezing of the cavity light. However, the vacuum reservoir noise does not have any effect on the mean photon number. Moreover, the maximum quadrature squeezing of the light generated by the laser, operating far below threshold, is found to be below the vacuum-state level. In addition, our result indicates that the quadrature squeezing is greater for than that for for 0.01 < < 0.35 and is smaller for than that for for 0.35 < < 1. We have also noted that the squeezing and entanglement in the two-mode light are directly related. As a result, an increase in the degree of squeezing directly leads to an increase in the degree of entanglement and vice versa. This shows that, whenever there is squeezing in the two-mode light, there exists an entanglement in the system.

V-type Three-Level Laser Coupled to Squeezed Vacuum Reservoir

Gomera Biyazn, Misrak Gatahun

The squeezing, entanglement, and statistical properties of cavity modes produced by V-type three-level laser coupled to squeezed vacuum reservoir were studied employing the steady state solutions of the expectation values of the cavity mode operators. The study showed that a light in squeezing state can be produced by the system under consideration under the condition that the cavity decay constant is larger than linear gain coefficient and the squeezing occurs in the plus-quadrature. The cavity modes do not exhibit entanglement properties. It is also observed that the degree of squeezing increases with the linear gain coefficient and squeezing parameter. We also determined the mean and variance of the photon number, intensity difference fluctuations, and the second order correlation function of the two modes. The mean and variance of the photon number as well as the correlation function of two modes decrease as the difference of the probability of the two states at initial time increases. The photons have super-poissionian statistics. The point, η, at which the maximum intensity difference fluctuation occurred depends on linear gain coefficient but not squeezing parameter. The result shows that the correlation of the two modes decreases as η the linear gain coefficient and squeezing parameter.

Quantum dynamics and squeezing in a noiseless cavity mode driven by a coherent three-level atom

Beshir Awol, Bawoke Mekuye, Mihretu Tamina

We investigate a cavity mode that interacts with a three-level atom in an open cavity that is coupled to a vacuum reservoir and is driven by coherent light. In our analysis, the interaction of the three-level atom with the external vacuum reservoir is taken into account and the noise operators of the vacuum reservoir are placed in normal order. While the spontaneous emission rate fluctuates as [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text], the cavity damping constant and stimulated emission decay constant, both set to 0.8, govern the system dynamics. Both the plus and negative components of the cavity light display quadrature squeezing. For coherent driving strengths [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] at [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] at [Formula: see text], the plus quadrature exhibits [Formula: see text] squeezing below the vacuum level, indicating that increasing the coherent drive can compensate for the decoherence introduced by spontaneous emission. Moreover, for [Formula: see text], the minus quadrature achieves [Formula: see text] squeezing. At high driving strengths, the squeezing in both quadratures becomes independent of spontaneous emission. In the absence of spontaneous emission, the mean photon number increases, and the photon number distribution shows a higher probability for even photon numbers than for odd ones, with the overall distribution decreasing as the photon number increases.
