Quantum battery performance and its relationship with quantum speed limit time under a correlated colored dephasing channel

Abstract

Abstract We study the performance of a two-qubit Ising quantum battery, initially prepared in the highest-energy state, following successive propagation through a correlated colored dephasing channel. The connection between battery performance and quantum speed limit time (QSLT) is also considered. The findings reveal that classical correlation of the channel can protect and enhance battery performance. In a fully correlated channel, no self-discharge occurs. Moreover, the temporal evolution of the QSLT upper bound is negatively correlated with that of the battery performance, thus establishing a negative correlation between battery performance and the QSLT upper bound.

Global and local performance of a quantum battery under correlated noise channels

Lu Wang, Shu-Qian Liu, Feng-Lin Wu +3 more

We investigate the global and local performances of a quantum battery exposed to the depolarizing and bit-flip channels, respectively, using the correlation matrix method. The battery is initially prepared as the highest-energy state of a two-qubit Ising model with open boundary conditions and is discharged via interaction with local noise channels. We show that compared to the independent noise channels, the correlated noise channels provide varying degrees of protection for the global and local performances of the Ising battery. The correlated depolarizing channel not only protects the global energy, ergotropy, and capacity of the Ising battery, but also protects the local ergotropy and capacity, whereas the correlated bit-flip channel provides protection only for the global ergotropy and capacity of the Ising battery. In both the correlated depolarizing and bit-flip channels, the greater the correlation strength, the greater the protective effect. Furthermore, we also use the same method to investigate the protective effect of correlated channels on the performances of the multiqubit battery and general Heisenberg battery in noise channels.

Quantum dynamical speedup in correlated noisy channels

Kai Dong Xu, Guo‐Feng Zhang, Wu‐Ming Liu

The maximal evolution speed of a quantum system can be represented by quantum speed limit time (QSLT). We investigate the QSLT of a two-qubit system passing through a correlated channel (amplitude damping, phase damping, and depolarizing). By adjusting the correlation parameter of the channel and the initial entanglement, a method to accelerate the evolution speed of the system for some specific channels is proposed. It is shown that, in the amplitude damping channel and the depolarizing channel, QSLT may be shortened in some cases by increasing the correlation parameter of the channel and the initial entanglement, which are in sharp contrast to the phase damping channel. In particular, under depolarizing channels, the transition from no-speedup evolution to speedup evolution for the system can be realized by changing the correlation strength of the channel.

Quantum battery systems: Analyzing two-mode field charging, qubit interactions, and environmental influences

Ahmed A. Zahia, Mahmoud Youssef Abd‐Rabbou, Eied Mahmoud Khalil +1 more

This study investigates the dynamical behaviour of a two-cell (two-atom) quantum battery driven by a two-mode charging field. We explore the influence of varying interaction strengths on the system?s performance. This includes increasing the coupling between cells and charging fields, and cells themselves through a dipole interaction and Ising interaction along the z-axis. Additionally, the impact of environmental effects is examined by incorporating decay terms for both the charging fields and the cells. Our analysis focuses on key performance metrics such as stored energy, average power, ergotropy, energy fluctuations, and quantum speed limit time. The results reveal that the environment negatively impacts stored energy, power, and ergotropy, but leads to higher speed limits. Enhanced coupling between the charging fields and the cells improves the studied correlations, promoting efficient energy transfer and decreasing speed limit time. Increasing the coupling between the cells, either via the dipole or Ising interaction, generally exhibits a similar effect. This involves a decrease in maximum achievable energy storage, accompanied by the emergence of more erratic energy fluctuations.

Enhancing two-qubit quantum coherence in a correlated dephasing channel

Ming‐Liang Hu, Wu Zhou

Abstract We investigate how the classical correlations between successive actions of a colored dephasing channel affect the decoherence of a two-qubit system. Our calculation shows that the l 1 norm of coherence, the relative entropy of coherence, and the robustness of coherence can be noticeably enhanced by increasing the strength of classical correlations in the whole time interval during which the two qubits pass through the channel, while the coherence weight is enhanced only when exceeds a critical value. Moreover, in the infinite-time limit, all the coherence measures reach their steady values which are determined only by .

Early-stage memory effect on the dephasing charger-mediated quantum battery

Yu Wang, Jiasen Jin

We investigate the performance of the charger-mediated quantum battery modeled by a two-qubit system. One of the qubits acts as the battery and the other acts as the charger which is subjected to a reservoir. We derived the time-local master equation in Lindblad form with a time-dependent dephasing rate. The dephasing rate may be negative in the early-stage of the charging process and thus indicate the presence of the memory effect. We find that such early-stage memory effect could increase the maximal ergotropy of the battery compared with the one under Markovian approximation with the corresponding asymptotic dephase rate. The enhancement of the performance is explained by means of the non-Markovian quantum jumps. Moreover, a discrete time scheme of the measurement-enhanced quantum battery is proposed in a quantum circuit with global and random local operations.

Experimental verification of quantum battery capacity with an optical platform

Xue Yang, Yanhan Yang, Xin-Zhu Liu +4 more

Quantum batteries, consisting of quantum cells, are anticipated to surpass their classical counterparts in performance because of the presence of quantum correlations. A recent theoretical study has introduced quantum battery capacity, which is defined according to the highest and the lowest energy during the charging and discharging procedures. Here, we present an experimental verification of quantum battery capacity and its relationships with other quantum characteristics of batteries using two-photon states. This reveals a distinguished feature of quantum battery capacity and its trade-off relationship with the entropy of the battery state, as well as with measures of coherence and entanglement.
