Abstract

The energy market is changing quickly because of the use of renewable energy sources, decentralized grids, and real-time demand response. These changes make things more complicated, like the need for quick decisions, uncertainty, and volatility in energy trading. Traditional computational models frequently inadequately address the scale and velocity necessary for optimal market performance. Quantum computing presents a substantial opportunity to transform the process of making market decisions. This paper examines the application of computer-assisted quantum algorithms for real-time trading in energy markets. Quantum-enhanced optimization, portfolio balancing, and real-time bidding strategies can be made by using both quantum computing and classical computing infrastructure. Adding quantum computing to energy trading will make calculations faster, predictions more accurate, and the economy more efficient. This will make energy markets smarter, greener, and more responsive.

Quantum computers make it possible to solve hard planning problems, accurately simulate how grids change over time, and improve the efficiency of grid activities. Quantum algorithms have changed the way grids are managed, how demand is predicted, and how energy is distributed in real time. In addition, AI technologies like machine learning, deep learning, and others improve quantum computing by looking at the huge amounts of data that smart power grids create. Using quantum mechanics in AI models and algorithms makes it possible for advanced control systems to handle grid processes automatically, adapt to changing conditions, and quickly fix problems. This research looks into how these technologies could be used, what problems they might cause, and what areas of research should be done in the future to help build safe, resilient, and efficient energy infrastructure. When quantum computing and artificial intelligence come together, they will change the energy business right away. This will create a power grid environment that is smarter, cleaner, and more resilient.

Quantum Enabled-Algorithms and Market Prediction and Execution for Ultra-Low-Latency High-Frequency Trading in Global Markets

Shilpi Yadav, Vandana Roy, Somnath Banerjee +1 more

The ultra-low-latency decision-making process and sophisticated predictive technology are the key to staying competitive in the rapidly evolving global markets with the continuous fading of timeframes in affected markets. Classical algorithms are efficient but have limitations in scaling, speed, and non-linear market applications. This study introduces a quantum inspired model that integrates an encoding of quantum data, quantum approximate optimization, and quantum neural networks to generate real-time trading strategies. With quantum parallelism, the system processes volumes of financial data quickly and optimizes portfolio allocations to enhance predictive accuracy during times of volatility. A hybrid quantum-classical execution pipeline reduces latency during the linkage of algorithmic computations to global trading infrastructures. The framework offers more adaptability, higher risk-adjusted returns, and increased throughput compared to current statistical, machine learning, and quantum-inspired models. Experimental results demonstrate significant performance gains, with execution latency of 5.3 ms, prediction accuracy of 94.6 %, F1‑score of 93.8 %, portfolio efficiency of 0.91, throughput of 3,200 trades per second, and a Sharpe ratio of 1.56.

Computer-Aided Quantum Algorithms for Real-Time Energy Market Trading

Jinghui Wu, Wenjun Zhu, Yun Xu +2 more

This study presents an innovative approach for optimizing real-time energy market trading strategies by integrating Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) with Quantum Annealing (QA). The primary objective is to enhance trading performance by leveraging the adaptive capabilities of PPO alongside the optimization power of QA. The methodology involves using PPO to develop a dynamic trading strategy that adapts to real-time market conditions. PPO’s reinforcement learning framework is employed to manage state representations, action spaces, and reward functions, thereby continuously refining the trading policy. The optimization of trading parameters is achieved through Quantum Annealing, which solves Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) problems derived from the trading strategy formulation. Key findings from the study demonstrate significant improvements in trading outcomes. The integration of QA with PPO led to a 25% increase in total return, a 15% enhancement in Sharpe ratio, a 10% reduction in maximum drawdown, and a 20% decrease in transaction costs. These results highlight the effectiveness of combining quantum optimization techniques with reinforcement learning for superior trading strategy development. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to advancing real-time trading strategy optimization through the synergistic use of machine learning and quantum computing. This approach offers potential applications across various financial sectors and domains requiring sophisticated real-time decision-making and optimization. Future research is suggested to further explore the scalability and practical implementation of this integrated methodology in more complex and larger-scale optimization problems.

Quantum Machine Learning based Framework for Green and Sustainable Power Grids

S. Naganandhini, Rabiyathul Bachiriya, M. Sowmiya +1 more

The rising global need for renewable energy systems entails the constants call for research in ideal methodologies to enhance energy systems. As the problem of energy distribution, consumption and forecasting forecasting involves a number of inherent and intricate processes, conventional methods fail to combine with the dynamics of present day energy systems. With the help of efficient solutions by Quantum Machine Learning (QML), this paper aims to understand how QML solutions can transform Energy Management. The broad spectrum of QML techniques we consider includes quantum-enhanced optimization algorithms and quantum-assisted data analysis to discuss the use of the approaches in predicting energy demand, managing energy distribution, and enhancing consumption rates. In this work, we validate QML algorithms in simulation studies and consider real-world examples with other machine learning and optimization methods. They imply that, under certain circumstances, QML can produce notably higher performance with respect to the classical ML approaches in tasks of optimization, including the ones addressed in this paper at large datasets and complex, non-linear dependencies. The quantum algorithms demonstrated substantial gains in terms of energy prediction and the optimal use of energy with minimum lag, especially in situations where volatility and uncertainty are high. In addition, the possibility to identify the connections in mass energy consumption data that could not be found by using classical methods is one of the main advantages of QML in the activities of the company.
