Black Hole Unitarity via Reflexive Unitarity

Abstract

Programme status: This record belongs to an active research programme. It is not a finished or final theory. The framework is currently undergoing a systematic audit, together with corrections and improvements prompted by reader feedback. Several significant issues have been identified, and some claims, derivations and interpretations in the current version may be revised, qualified or withdrawn in future versions. Revised versions will be released when this work is complete. See PROGRAM_STATUS.md. Status as of October 2026. We examine black hole information unitarity within the Mathematical Foundations of Reflexive Reality (MFRR) framework SpivackNEMSMFRRBridge. The MFRR Transputation operator PT^-1 provides a physical mechanism for unitary information recovery consistent with the Perfect Self-Containment condition. Since every CPTP map admits a Stinespring dilation (a mathematical theorem independent of gravitational modelling), Hawking evaporation is unitarily equivalent to a reversible evolution on a system-plus-environment space. We construct the evaporation channel _ t = e^ tL as a GKSL master equation for a JT-like system of n=3 bosonic modes (d_H = 8) at T_H 0.004. Stinespring dilation achieves fidelity F 1 - 10^-8; detailed balance holds to 0.00\%; the entropy curve reaches 97.2\% of the ideal thermal value. In two complementary closed unitary models - a pure initial BH state and a purified thermal initial state with reference system R - the full Page curve with turnover is reproduced and PT^-1 recovery achieves F = 1.000000. Open fronts are stated explicitly: extension to 3+1 quantum gravity, the firewall tension, and a first-principles derivation of PT^-1.

The Burden of Black-Hole Information Preservation: An Event-Horizon Premise Challenge

Rick - PraxisFoundry001

This work examines a specific premise in the black-hole information problem: the assertion that complete quantum evolution preserves arbitrary initial quantum distinctions through the full formation and evaporation of an actual four-dimensional black hole possessing a genuine event horizon. The paper does not argue that fundamental information destruction occurs. It does not reject unitary quantum mechanics or the substantial mathematical progress represented by holography, quantum error correction, entanglement islands, replica wormholes, Page-curve calculations, asymptotic observable algebras, or gravitational reconstruction. Instead, it asks what establishes that the scope of such results reaches the complete physical black-hole process for which global preservation is asserted. For a registered ordinary future-directed causal route from strictly inside a genuine event horizon to the stipulated exterior future, the event-horizon and Structural Flow translation premises imply that ordinary outward Cascade and same-route Authorization do not occur. This route result does not determine the global fate of quantum information. The restricted horizon-facing premises entail neither guaranteed global quantum-information preservation nor fundamental global information destruction. The complete physical fate therefore remains dependent on additional physics-owned premises. The work distinguishes global preservation from restricted exterior recoverability. A preservation claim must specify the physical target process, admitted quantum input family, governing dynamics, physically complete output system, relevant quantum-coherence burden, and applicability of the mathematical result to the actual gravitational regime being claimed. Recovery from Hawking radiation alone is not privileged as the only admissible proof route, and inability to recover information from a restricted radiation subsystem is not sufficient to establish fundamental loss. A public falsification and reopening protocol accompanies the paper. It separates model- and code-level advances, physical preservation or loss results, event-horizon domain-translation failures, and genuine foundational Structural Flow counterderivations. A black-hole-specific failure does not automatically reopen universal Structural Flow, the Universal Kernel, or the TOE. The release also includes a machine companion and a consolidated Lean formal append evaluated with the unchanged Structural_Flow_Universal_Kernel_v1.0.lean. The supplied Lean Web execution record reported all 68 expected theorem checkpoints from the integrated source with no compiler errors reported. The consolidated BH-EH source contains 69 theorem declarations. Machine closure is explicitly limited to the encoded conditional logical scope. The formal layer does not establish the existence of an actual event horizon, the physical validity of the Structural Flow translation, complete quantum-gravitational dynamics, or the global information fate of real black holes. This coordinated package contains the scientific anchor, public falsification/reopening protocol, machine companion, scoped BH-EH formal append, and frozen Universal Kernel.

Unitarity in Quantum Mechanics: A Critical Audit from First Principles

Justin Richer

This work presents a rigorous, first-principles audit of unitarity in quantum mechanics, treating unitarity not as a foundational axiom but as a hypothesis whose validity depends on explicit physical and mathematical assumptions. The analysis is conducted entirely within the operational framework of open quantum systems, using completely positive trace-preserving (CPTP) maps to describe the dynamics of reduced subsystems. By systematically isolating and auditing every prerequisite required for unitary evolution—including perfect isolation, Hilbert-space factorization, linearity, the Born rule, and time parameterization—the manuscript demonstrates that unitarity is neither fundamental nor universal, but instead an emergent, scale-dependent consistency condition. The paper distinguishes clearly between mathematical bookkeeping identities and physically meaningful conservation laws, showing that probability conservation does not require unitarity, and that reversibility and energy conservation are not guaranteed by unitary evolution alone. Explicit, mathematically consistent non-unitary evolution models are constructed, including Lindblad dynamics, non-Hermitian Hamiltonians, stochastic Schrödinger equations, non-Markovian evolution, and quantum Darwinism. The work further identifies the precise regimes in which unitary dynamics emerges as an effective approximation—such as weak coupling, short timescales, or limited observational resolution—and delineates the conditions under which it fails. Empirical evidence from atomic spectroscopy, quantum information processing, decoherence experiments, and measurement theory is used to anchor the analysis without assuming fundamental unitarity. The central conclusion is unambiguous: no physically accessible open or effective subsystem undergoes strictly unitary evolution. Unitarity is shown to be an emergent, conditional, and scale-dependent property rather than a fundamental law of nature. This manuscript is intended as a foundational clarification of the status of unitarity in quantum theory and is suitable for researchers in quantum foundations, open quantum systems, quantum information, and quantum gravity. A Quantum Superposition of Black Hole Evaporation Histories: Recovering Unitarity

Ali Akil, Lorenzo Giannelli, Leonardo Modesto +3 more

Black hole evaporation is one of the most striking phenomena at the interface between gravity and quantum physics. In Hawking's semi-classical treatment, where matter is quantum mechanical and the spacetime is definite and classical, evaporation leads to an apparent loss of unitarity of the overall evolution, and to the so-called black hole information paradox. Here, we go beyond this semi-classical treatment and formulate a toy quantum model of black hole evaporation that allows the black hole to evolve into a superposition of being fully evaporated and not fully evaporated, consistent with the Hawking particles being in a coherent superposition of different energy levels. We model Hawking particle production by the repeated action of quantum-controlled unitaries, generating emission from the quantum black hole and accounting for a quantum coherent back-reaction on the black hole matter state. We show that the probability of full annihilation of the black hole matter increases with time until the black hole is, asymptotically, fully evaporated in every branch of the quantum superposition. We prove that under natural assumptions, this evaporation model is unitary, such that the initial state can in principle be recovered from the final asymptotic state of the radiation.

Horizon-Indistinguishable Quantum Information Unitary Evaporation, Code Subspaces, and the Black-Hole Information-Loss Contradiction

Darren Jeffers

This paper presents a structural resolution of the black-hole information-loss contradiction using standard quantum-information and operator-algebraic ideas. The central argument is that local horizon regularity, unitary evolution, locally thermal-looking radiation, no cloning, and complete final information recovery are not mutually inconsistent unless one additionally assumes that the interior partner and the radiation reconstruction must remain permanently independent physical subsystems. The paper develops an alternative framework in which globally encoded quantum information can remain invisible to the local horizon observable algebra while being preserved exactly in the total quantum state and progressively transferred into correlations within the emitted radiation. An explicit finite-dimensional code model demonstrates that each individual emitted subsystem can appear locally universal while arbitrary quantum information, including entanglement with an external reference system, remains exactly preserved and fully recoverable from the final radiation. The analysis also distinguishes the local horizon-partner role from the global microstate information and from the physical carrier that realizes either role at a given stage of evaporation. This separation removes the apparent monogamy conflict without violating linearity, no cloning, or unitary quantum mechanics. A complementary entropy analysis shows how a Page-like transition can arise when the responsibility for purification becomes progressively reconstructible from the radiation. The paper does not claim a complete dynamical theory of astrophysical black-hole evaporation. Instead, it establishes a mathematically explicit consistency framework showing that the standard information-loss contradiction is not forced by local thermality and unitarity alone, and it identifies the remaining physical problem as the derivation of the appropriate horizon observable algebra and evaporation dynamics from a complete theory of gravity.

Information Recovery from Non-Factorized States

Iker Ibarrola Echeverría

We present a minimal, fully unitary toy model of black hole evaporation in which information recovery emerges from non-factorized global states and observer-dependent access. The model reproduces a Page-like entropy curve for Hawking radiation without invoking fundamental information loss, horizon microstructure, or spacetime geometry at the microscopic level. The result supports the interpretation that the black hole information paradox arises from regime-dependent coarse-graining rather than from a breakdown of quantum unitarity.
