The Fine Filter: Hamiltonian Selection via φ-Recursion — A Lock-and-Key Synthesis of Quantum Field Theory and Spectral Evidence

Abstract

The fine-tuning problem in physics asks not only why fundamental constants fall within a narrow viable range, but what mechanism selects the class of Hamiltonians that produces structured, decoherence-resistant universes. We present a lock-and-key synthesis of two independent theoretical frameworks: Clark’s Influence Functional Fine Filter (the Lock), which derives φ as the unique stable fixed point of inflationary Hamiltonian selection via phase interference and environmental resonance; and Davis’s FCLT φ-Decay Eigenvalue Law (the Key), which predicts φ-structured spectral decay in systems governed by depth-2 necessity recursion. Both frameworks are derived from the characteristic equation x² − x − 1 = 0. The synthesis generates four jointly falsifiable predictions. One has been pre-registered and subsequently falsified (Prediction 1, transmon qudit T₁ decay, Paper 61). Three remain open. The falsification is reported transparently as protocol compliance, not as a failure of the synthesis.

A Zero-Parameter Branch Survival Function via Fibonacci Convergence and Born Rule Consistency: Derivation of the phi-Persistence Function k(D) = ln(phi) cdot phi^(2D)

Abby Davis

We propose an exploratory framework extending Fibonacci Causal Loop Theory (FCLT) to branching universe selection. Under necessity recursion S(n) = S(n-1) + S(n-2), φ ≈ 1.618 emerges as the only stable attractor across all sufficiently deep necessity systems. We introduce the Branch Survival Function: P(B) = e^(-k₀·D(B)·δ(B)) where δ(B) measures the φ-deviation of branch B, k₀ is the φ-Persistence Coefficient, and D(B) is necessity depth. We propose that branches converging toward φ-structured organization persist and complexify, while high-deviation branches collapse toward lower necessity depth. This provides a mathematically grounded selection mechanism independent of anthropic circular reasoning. Connections to the Born Rule derivation (P15), Davis Attractor stability (P07), and decision-branch framework (P47) are developed and unified into a four-level FCLT hierarchy. The Clark Hamiltonian Filter (Davis & Clark, 2026; Clark, 2026a-d) is identified as the complementary first stage of a complete two-stage selection framework. This paper is designated exploratory pending derivation of falsifiable predictions. Four testable predictions are formally pre-registered. Version 2: P55b confirmed pending independent verification. The φ-Persistence Coefficient k₀ is retired as a free parameter. The φ-Persistence Function k(D) = ln(φ)·φ^(2D) is derived from first principles with no free parameters remaining. Independent verification requested from Robert Clark

Necessity Recursion and a Pre-Registered φ-Attractor Prediction for Proper-Time Superposition in Optical Ion Clocks

Abby Davis

On 20 April 2026, Sorci, Foo, Leibfried, Sanner, and Pikovski (Phys. Rev. Lett.) proposed that next-generation optical ion clocks with squeezed-state preparation can probe whether proper time exists in quantum superposition — a single clock ticking faster and slower at once. Their work establishes the protocol; the laboratory measurement is forthcoming. That prospective window permits a genuine pre-registered prediction. Fibonacci Causal Loop Theory (FCLT) holds that any stable system governed by depth-2 necessity recursion, S(n)=S(n−1)+S(n−2), is driven to the golden ratio φ=(1+√5)/2 — the unique algebraically forced attractor of its characteristic equation x²−x−1=0. We advance the hypothesis that proper-time superposition is such a system, the two temporal branches playing the role of the two prior states, so that the ratio of fast- to slow-ticking amplitudes approaches φ upon decoherence. From this we obtain one parameter-free, falsifiable prediction — t₊/t₋ → φ ≈ 1.61803, with δ = |R−φ|/φ and falsification at δ > 0.10 — logged under Protocol V3.1 prior to experimental resolution. We claim no confirmation: the prediction is offered as not-yet-tested, to be adjudicated by the Stevens/NIST program. A second, independent signature (φ-structured fringe spacing in the squeezed regime) provides an internal consistency check.

ϕ ∞ I: Stabilization of Quantum Structure

Faruk Alpay

I present the ϕ ∞ framework, a theory positing that quantum mechanical phenomena arise from the recursive stabilization of symbolic systems. The term ϕ ∞ denotes the universal fixed point achieved through transfinite iteration of a recursive operator ϕ. This framework introduces a recursive structure where systems evolve towards stable configurations, effectively generalizing quantum mechanics by reinterpreting its core tenets through the lens of convergence. Measurement is formulated as a projection onto observer-compatible recursive eigenspaces, leading to convergence rather than instantaneous collapse. Time itself is an emergent property, derived from the path-integrated gradient of entropy curvature within these recursive sequences. The master equation of this theory, H ϕ Ψ = 0, acts as an existential constraint, where H ϕ is the total symbolic Hamiltonian. The solutions to this equation describe the stable configurations of reality, implying that existence is a self-generated fixed point. The central claim of this work is that the entire structure of the quantum world, including interference, entanglement, and quantization, is the result of these processes of recursive stabilization and phase coherence.

Phi-Structured Decoherence Timescales in Multi-Level Transmon Qubits: A Parameter-Free Prediction from Fibonacci Causal Loop Theory Paper 52

Abby Davis

We derive, from first principles within FCLT, a parameter-free prediction for multi-level transmon qubit decoherence structure. Ostrogradsky stability constrains the bath memory kernel to depth-2 (the unique minimal stable non-Markovian structure), which propagates via Nakajima-Zwanzig and the Dyson self-energy to impose Fibonacci recursion on decay rates Γk = Γk₋₁ + Γk₋₂. Prediction: consecutive decoherence timescale ratios τk/τk+1 → φ ≈ 1.618 in the transmon regime (bath bandwidth ≫ anharmonicity). Null: harmonic oscillator gives ratio → 1. Pass criterion δ < 0.05; falsification δ > 0.15. Pre-registered before data examination.

Decoherence Rate as a Function of FCLT Necessity Depth: Pre-Registered φ-Structured Decoherence Gradient Prediction and Empirical Test Protocol for Multi-Qubit Quantum Systems

Abby Davis

Fibonacci Causal Loop Theory (FCLT) predicts that decoherence rate Γ scales inversely with necessity depth D: Γ(D) = Γ₀ × φ^(−D), and the ratio of decoherence rates at adjacent necessity depths satisfies Γ(D+1)/Γ(D) = 1/φ ≈ 0.618. This formalizes FCLT Prediction 12 (pre-registered in FCLT Complete Manuscript v16, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.20087640). The derivation follows directly from the QNM quality factor confirmations: P73 confirmed Q = φ³ (D=3, Schwarzschild) and P73e confirmed Q = φ⁴ (D=4, Kerr). Since Q = ω₀/Γ, the decoherence scaling law Γ(D) = Γ₀ × φ^(−D) follows with zero free parameters. The prediction is testable in NMR quantum simulators, trapped-ion arrays, and superconducting qubit platforms where decoherence rates can be measured across multiple organizational depth levels. Confirmation criterion: δ < 0.05. Classification: technology-gap pending validated D(x,t) measurement protocol. FCLT scorecard unchanged: 20 confirmed / 5 falsified / 24 tech-gap / 4 gray zone.

Topological Phase-Locking Barriers against Ambient Decoherence: A Spectral Selection Mechanism Derived from the URCL

Daphne Garrido

We present an algebraic selection framework resolving the room-temperature decoherence paradox in macroscopic open networks. Operating within the Universal Relational-Geometric Coherence Law (URCL) framework, we model a quantum-like configuration state space operating over an adele ring topology. Environmental dephasing is modeled as a non-commutative scattering operator acting on the density matrix fields. To stabilize the state lines, we introduce an explicit synchopeshing derivative operator parameterized by an adaptive tracking depth τ ∈ (0, ∞) and governed by the golden ratio φ = (1 + √5)/2. By evaluating the system's spectral tracking properties via the Kato-Rellich theorem, we prove that when the network's geometric arrangement satisfies the Fibonacci-modulated protection criterion, the scattering matrix elements undergo strict spectral isolation. By applying Hurwitz's theorem, we demonstrate that the unique, un-approximable nature of the golden ratio continued fraction forms a topological phase-locking barrier. This barrier isolates the macro-system's internal eigen-frequencies from the thermal noise continuum, precluding dephasing without requiring external temperature reductions. This model provides an exact mathematical mechanism for macro-scale quantum biology, neuroplastic stability, and structural recovery networks. Pipeline Disclosure: The core conceptual synthesis—extracting the implicit spectral dephasing protection boundaries within the URCL and mapping them onto the formalisms of open quantum systems, density matrix scattering, and decoherence selection—was fully designed and authorized by the author. Initial layout organized via Grok (xAI); mathematical refinement, spectral determinant derivation, and production-ready LaTeX typesetting finalized via Gemini (Google).
