Abstract

In this article we discuss the relation between Heisenberg's inequality and logarithmic Heisenberg's (entropy) inequality for ambiguity function. After building up a Heisenberg's inequality, we obtain a connection of variance with entropy by variational method. Using classical Taylor's expansion, we prove that the equality in Heisenberg's inequality holds if and only if the entropy of 2k - 1 order is equal to (2k - 1}!.

On moments-based Heisenberg inequalities

Steeve Zozor, M. Portesi, Pablo Sánchez-Moreno +4 more

In this paper we revisit the quantitative formulation of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. The primary version of this principle establishes the impossibility of refined simultaneous measurement of position x and momentum u for a (1‐dimensional) quantum particle in terms of variances: 〈‖x‖2〉〈‖u‖2〉⩾1/4. Since this inequality applies provided each variance exists, some authors proposed entropic versions of this principle as an alternative (employing Shannon’s or Rényi’s entropies). As another alternative, we consider moments‐based formulations and show that inequalities involving moments of orders other than 2 can be found. Our procedure is based on the Rényi entropic versions of the Heisenberg relation together with the search for the maximal entropy under statistical moments’ constraints (〈‖x‖a〉 and 〈‖u‖b〉). Our result improves a relation proposed very recently by Dehesa et al.. [1] where the same approach was used but starting with the Shannon version of the entropic uncertainty relation. Furthermore, we show that when a =b, the best bound we can find with our approach coincides with that of Ref. [1] and, in addition, for a = b = 2 the variance‐based Heisenberg relation is recovered. Finally, we illustrate our results in the cases of d‐dimensional hydrogenic systems.

In this paper we revisit the quantitative formulation of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. The primary version of this principle establishes the impossibility of refined simultaneous measurement of position x and momentum u for a (1-dimensional) quantum particle in terms of variances: <||x||^2> <||u||^2> ≥ 1/4. Since this inequality applies provided each variance exists, some authors proposed entropic versions of this principle as an alternative (employing Shannon's or Rényi's entropies). As another alternative, we consider moments-based formulations and show that inequalities involving moments of orders other than 2 can be found. Our procedure is based on the Rényi entropic versions of the Heisenberg relation together with the search for the maximal entropy un- der statistical moments' constraints ( <||x||^a> and <||u||^b> ). Correlation Inequalities for Heisenberg Ferromagnets

C. A. Hurst, S. Sherman

First, for a classical discrete approximation to the Heisenberg ferromagnet, in a Euclidean space of dimension 2k where k is a positive integer, the correlation is nonnegative and a monotonic increasing function of interactions. Second, for the quantum mechanical Heisenberg ferromagnet itself, the correlation is nonnegative but not necessarily a monotonic increasing function of interaction. Both results allow for long-range interactions. Third, a family of inequalities on the number of connected components in graphs is deduced.

Extensions of the Heisenberg‐Weyl inequality

H. P. Heinig, M. Smith

In this paper a number of generalizations of the classical Heisenberg‐Weyl uncertainty inequality are given. We prove the n‐dimensional Hirschman entropy inequality (Theorem 2.1) from the optimal form of the Hausdorff‐Young theorem and deduce a higher dimensional uncertainty inequality (Theorem 2.2). From a general weighted form of the Hausdorff‐Young theorem, a one‐dimensional weighted entropy inequality is proved and some weighted forms of the Heisenberg‐Weyl inequalities are given.

AN INFINITE-DIMENSIONAL HEISENBERG UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE

Yuh-Jia Lee, Aurel I. Stan

An analogue of the classical Heisenberg inequality is given for an innite-dimensional space. The proof relies on a commutation relationship and integration by parts formula for Gaussian measure. We also discuss when the equality holds.

Heisenberg–Pauli–Weyl uncertainty principle for ambiguity function

Ping Liang, Pei Dang, Weixiong Mai +1 more

In this paper, we prove a stronger type of Heisenberg–Pauli–Weyl uncertainty principle for ambiguity function. An example is used to demonstrate the obtained result, and related uncertainty principles for short-time Fourier transform and Wigner distribution are given, respectively. In addition, we introduce the so-called K-ambiguity function, and obtain the related Heisenberg–Pauli–Weyl uncertainty principle.
