This book is intended to serve as an approachable starting point for scholars, students, and enthusiasts who are keen to learn more about this cutting-edge field. Although quantum computing is based on complex mathematics and abstract physics, its fundamental concepts such as superposition, entanglement, and quantum gates, can be easily comprehended. This study attempts to close the gap between curiosity and comprehension by gradually and clearly presenting these concepts. Chapter I, II, III was prepared by Mr.P.Sathish. This chapter clearly focused on Introduction to Quantum Computing, History and Evolution of Quantum Computing, Classical vs Quantum Computing. Chapter IV, V, VI, VII was prepared by Mr.L.Dinesh. This Chapter introduces the concept of Quantum Mechanics Fundamentals, Qubits: The Building Blocks of Quantum Computing, Quantum Gates and Circuits and Quantum Algorithms. Chapter VIII, IX, X was prepared by Mr.S.Alaguganesan. This chapter clearly focused on Domain-Specific Quantum Algorithms, Quantum Hardware Technologies and Quantum Error Correction (QEC). Chapter XI, XII, XIII, XIV was prepared by Mr.P.Muthamil Selavan. This Chapter introduces the concept of Quantum Cryptography, Applications of Quantum Computing, Challenges in Quantum Computing and Future of Quantum Computing.

A Minimal Introduction to Quantum Computing

M M Hassan Mahmud, Goldsmith, Daniel

In this article, we present an introduction to quantum computing (QC) tailored for computing professionals such as programmers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists. Our approach abstracts away the physics underlying QC, which can be challenging to grasp, and frames it as a model of computation similar to, for instance, Turing machines. This helps readers grasp the fundamental principles of QC from a purely logical perspective. We begin by defining quantum states and qubits, establishing their mathematical representation and role in computation. We introduce fundamental concepts such as basis states, quantum gates, and tensor products, illustrating how these form the building blocks of quantum computation. Then we present the Deutsch-Josza algorithm, one of the simplest quantum algorithms that demonstrate how quantum computers can outperform classical computers. Finally, we provide guidance for further study, recommending resources for those interested in exploring quantum algorithms, implementations, and industry applications.

Introduction to Quantum Computing

Surya Teja Marella, Hemanth Sai Kumar Parisa

Quantum computing is a modern way of computing that is based on the science of quantum mechanics and its unbelievable phenomena. It is a beautiful combination of physics, mathematics, computer science and information theory. It provides high computational power, less energy consumption and exponential speed over classical computers by controlling the behavior of small physical objects i.e. microscopic particles like atoms, electrons, photons, etc. Here, we present an introduction to the fundamental concepts and some ideas of quantum computing. This paper starts with the origin of traditional computing and discusses all the improvements and transformations that have been done due to their limitations until now. Then it moves on to the basic working of quantum computing and the quantum properties it follows like superposition, entanglement and interference. To understand the full potentials and challenges of a practical quantum computer that can be launched commercially, the paper covers the architecture, hardware, software, design, types and algorithms that are specifically required by the quantum computers. It uncovers the capability of quantum computers that can impact our lives in various viewpoints like cyber security, traffic optimization, medicines, artificial intelligence and many more. At last, we concluded all the importance, advantages and disadvantages of quantum computers. Small-scale quantum computers are being developed recently. This development is heading towards a great future due to their high potential capabilities and advancements in ongoing research. Before focusing on the significances of a general-purpose quantum computer and exploring the power of the new arising technology, it is better to review the origin, potentials, and limitations of the existing traditional computing. This information helps us in understanding the possible challenges in developing exotic and competitive technology. It will also give us an insight into the ongoing progress in this field.
