Abstract

We present measures of bipartite entanglement in the multiparticle spin-1/2 systems. We also touch on the phenomenon of Quantum Phase Transitions and spin coupling. In the end we create a Python code for graphical visualisation of entanglement in relation to ground state energy behaviour. 1

Quantum Entanglement and Geometry

Gabriel, Andreas

The phenomenon of quantum entanglement is thoroughly investigated, focussing especially on geometrical aspects and on bipartite systems. After introducing the formalism and discussing general aspects, some of the most important separability criteria and entanglement measures are presented. Finally, the geometry of 2x2- and 3x3-dimensional state spaces is analysed and visualised.

Entanglement Measure for Composite Systems

Vyacheslav I. Yukalov

A general description of entanglement is suggested as an action realized by an arbitrary operator over given disentangled states. The related entanglement measure is defined. Because of its generality, this definition can be employed for any physical systems, pure or mixed, equilibrium or nonequilibrium, and characterized by any type of operators, whether these are statistical operators, field operators, spin operators, or anything else. Entanglement of any number of parts from their total ensemble forming a multiparticle composite system can be determined. Interplay between entanglement and ordering, occurring under phase transitions, is analyzed by invoking the concept of operator order indices.

Quantum Phase Transitions and Bipartite Entanglement

Lian-Ao Wu, M. S. Sarandy, Daniel A. Lidar

We develop a general theory of the relation between quantum phase transitions (QPTs) characterized by nonanalyticities in the energy and bipartite entanglement. We derive a functional relation between the matrix elements of two-particle reduced density matrices and the eigenvalues of general two-body Hamiltonians of d-level systems. The ground state energy eigenvalue and its derivatives, whose nonanalyticity characterizes a QPT, are directly tied to bipartite entanglement measures. We show that first-order QPTs are signaled by density matrix elements themselves and second-order QPTs by the first derivative of density matrix elements. Our general conclusions are illustrated via several quantum spin models.

Measures of entanglement in quantum mechanics

Geir Ove Myhr

I give an overview of some of the most used measures of entanglement. To make the presentation self-contained, a number of concepts from quantum information theory are first explained. Then the structure of bipartite entanglement is studied qualitatively, before a number of bipartite entanglement measures are described, both for pure and mixed states. Results from the study of multipartite systems and continuous variable systems are briefly discussed.

Multisite Entanglement acts as a Better Indicator of Quantum Phase Transitions in Spin Models with Three-spin Interactions

Manabendra Nath Bera, R. Prabhu, Aditi Sen De +1 more

We employ a genuine multipartite entanglement measure, the generalized geometric measure, for investigating the quantum phase transition in an infinite quantum spin-1/2 chain with two-spin as well as three-spin interactions. We show that in contrast to bipartite entanglement of the ground state, the genuine multiparty one unerringly indicates the quantum phase transition in the system. The system lends itself to a complementary behavior between bipartite and genuine multipartite entanglements. We also investigate the trend of the multipartite entanglement in finite chains, in which we perform a finite-size scaling to confirm the signature of the quantum phase transition already in finite systems. The finite-size investigation renders the phenomenon to be observable in real systems.

Review of Bipartite Entanglement Measures

Josh Borovik, Imran M. Mirza

We review five important measures of bipartite quantum entanglement and discuss their connections. In doing so, we provide both the mathematical definitions of these measures and the corresponding intuitive explanations.
