The Quantum Emergence Theorem: Self-Grounding Across the Quantum-Classical Boundary

Abstract

Description/Abstract: The Decay Bounce (Math Paper 1) proved that the Universal Cascade Law is self-grounding within classical dynamics — the conditions C₁, C₂, C₃ are organized by the Feigenbaum constants through the reflection geometry of the stable manifold. The Universality Hierarchy (Math Paper 2) established the four-layer structure from axiom through observation. This paper extends both results by proving that the self-grounding property persists across the quantum-classical boundary, completing a five-layer hierarchy. Nine theorems build in strict logical sequence: the null result (linear systems exhibit no cascade, confirming the Universal Cascade Law diagnostic with C₂ absent), the classical cascade (Feigenbaum period-doubling confirmed across five independent systems with topology-dependent constants, δ₂ = 5.09 converging toward 4.669), the quantum encoding (the cascade exists as potential in the Wigner function topology of the density matrix — bimodal distributions, variance spikes, purity minima — while expectation values remain smooth), and the central result: the Quantum Emergence Theorem. The Feigenbaum cascade is absent in full quantum dynamics and present in the classical limit. Decoherence — the quantum-to-classical transition — is the mechanism by which the cascade emerges into observable manifestation. The conditions for that emergence are themselves structured by the cascade's architecture, as demonstrated by the quantum tunneling shift Δγ = 0.733 and the cascade whisper in quantum fluctuation structure at classical bifurcation points. The self-grounding loop closes across the quantum-classical boundary: quantum potential → decoherence threshold → classical cascade → Feigenbaum architecture → structures the Hilbert space → determines the tunneling shift → sets the decoherence threshold → quantum potential. An observability scaling corollary proves that detection thresholds at each cascade level scale as δ⁻ⁿ, extending self-grounding into measurement theory and correcting a published Rössler bifurcation value (c₂ = 3.836, not 3.53). The five-layer universality hierarchy is complete: axiom, constants, mechanism, observation, quantum emergence. One law. Self-grounding. From the foundations of mathematics through the birth of classical reality. Keywords: quantum emergence, Feigenbaum cascade, self-grounding, Wigner function, decoherence, Kerr oscillator, Universal Cascade Law, period-doubling, density matrix, observability scaling, quantum-classical transition, Lindblad master equation, decay bounce, universality hierarchy, bifurcation, nonlinear dynamics, measurement theory

The Birth of Structure: Feigenbaum Architecture in the Quantum-to-Classical Transition

Lucian Randolph

Description/Abstract: Every physics student learns two separate stories. In quantum mechanics, systems exist in superposition until measured, then collapse into definite states through decoherence. In nonlinear dynamics, systems undergo structured transitions — period-doubling cascades governed by Feigenbaum's universal constants. These two stories have never been connected. This paper connects them. Using the Universal Cascade Law diagnostic — which predicts that any bounded system with nonlinear coupling necessarily produces fractal geometry organized by the Feigenbaum constants — we examine quantum decoherence across three layers: the linear Lindblad master equation (no cascade, as predicted by the absence of nonlinearity), classical nonlinear oscillators (full Feigenbaum cascade confirmed with δ₂ = 5.09 converging toward 4.669 across five independent systems), and the full quantum density matrix of a driven-dissipative Kerr oscillator solved in Hilbert space. The result is more profound than simple confirmation. The Feigenbaum cascade exists in the classical limit of quantum hardware but vanishes in the full quantum dynamics. The quantum density matrix holds all branches simultaneously as a mixture, encoding the cascade in its phase-space topology — bimodal Wigner functions, variance spikes, purity drops — while reporting smooth averages. Decoherence is the process by which the Feigenbaum cascade comes into existence. The cascade does not live in the quantum regime. It does not simply live in the classical regime. It lives in the transition between them. Decoherence is the birth of structure. Additional results include: correction of the published Rössler second bifurcation point from c₂ ≈ 3.53 to c₂ = 3.836; confirmation that coupling topology (quadratic vs cubic nonlinearity) selects the Feigenbaum family member (δ ≈ 4.67 vs δ ≈ 5.84); discovery that detection thresholds themselves follow Feigenbaum scaling (the observability scaling property); quantification of the quantum tunneling shift (Δγ = 0.733) between quantum and semiclassical transition points; and identification of the cascade "whisper" in quantum fluctuation structure at classical bifurcation points. Keywords: quantum decoherence, Feigenbaum constant, period-doubling cascade, Universal Cascade Law, Kerr oscillator, Duffing oscillator, Rössler system, Wigner function, bifurcation, nonlinear dynamics, quantum-classical transition, Lindblad master equation, universality, coupling topology, wave function collapse, measurement problem, fractal geometry

The Universal Cascade Across the Quantum-Classical Boundary

Lucian Randolph

The complete treatment of the quantum-classical boundary as the boundary of the Feigenbaum universality class. The Universal Cascade Theory (UCT) proves that C₁ (dissipative boundedness), C₂ (non-degenerate quadratic fold), and C₃ (transversal spectral crossing) are necessary and sufficient for Feigenbaum cascade structure with δ = 4.66920160… and α = 2.50290787…. The Null Theorem establishes that the linear Schrödinger equation categorically fails C₂. The quantum Kerr oscillator satisfies C₁–C₃ with quantum phase transition at γˣ = 1.1838, tunneling correction Δγ = 0.738, and N-convergence of 0.000% from N=30 to N=50. The Whisper scaling exponent β = −δ = −4.669… agrees with the cascade prediction at 0.26%, falsifying the Drummond-Walls (1980) prediction of β = −0.5 by a factor of 9.3. The Born rule |ψ|² is derived as the unique cascade-renormalization-invariant probability measure in six lines, independent of Hilbert space axioms. The thirteen-theorem self-grounding loop closes the logical chain from UCT axioms through cascade geometry to experimental verification.

The Universal Cascade Across the Quantum-Classical Boundary (Letter)

Lucian Randolph

We identify the quantum-classical boundary exactly: it is the boundary of the Feigenbaum universality class. The Universal Cascade Theory proves that three conditions — C₁ (dissipative boundedness), C₂ (non-degenerate quadratic fold), C₃ (transversal spectral crossing) — are necessary and sufficient for cascade structure with constants δ = 4.66920160… and α = 2.50290787…. The linear Schrödinger equation categorically fails C₂ and does not cascade. The quantum Kerr oscillator satisfies C₁–C₃ and exhibits a quantum phase transition at γˣ = 1.1838, a quantum tunneling correction Δγ = 0.738, and a Whisper scaling exponent β = −δ = −4.669… — all derived without free parameters. The Born rule |ψ|² is the unique probability measure invariant under cascade renormalization, forcing p = 2 uniquely. The boundary is not a matter of decoherence rate, scale, or interpretive convention. It is a universality class boundary, sharp and structural.

Information-Theoretic Boundaries and Symmetry Breaking: A Universal Principle of Quantum-Classical Transition

Mark E. Mala

Convergence Codex — Stage A Capstone Paper Tier: framework | Cascade Level: 4 The fundamental incompleteness theorems of mathematics and the contextuality theorems of quantum mechanics reveal a profound crisis: our most successful theories describe reality through structures that cannot be predetermined or completed. This persistent pattern across domains suggests we have been asking the wrong question. Rather than seeking what reality "is made of," we should ask how its structure emerges. The structural content of physical reality IS determined by information-theoretic compression at dimensional boundaries where global symmetries break to encode local contextual properties. Just as mathematical incompleteness arises at the boundary between formal systems and their meta-theoretic descriptions, and quantum contextuality emerges at the measurement boundary between system and observer, all fundamental structures in physics manifest through compression of global invariances into local, context-dependent information at dimensional transitions. This principle predicts: (1) Every fundamental constant encodes a specific compression ratio between adjacent dimensional descriptions, (2) New particles must emerge at energies corresponding to dimensional boundary transitions where current compression schemes fail, (3) Quantum gravity will require a formalism where spacetime itself emerges as compressed boundary information between higher-dimensional structures. If correct, the search for a "theory of everything" fundamentally misconceives the problem—reality's structure is not fixed but emerges through universal compression principles operating at every scale. Paper 42 — Generative Law: Limits of Entanglement Scalability

Mortaza Zabihi

Entanglement is commonly treated as a uniquely quantum resource whose limitations are attributed to environmental disturbance, system size, or decoherence. Such explanations, however, fail to identify a principled boundary between quantum and classical behavior. This paper proposes a different account: entanglement does not break down because systems become larger, but because the laws required to sustain entanglement become too complex to remain isolated and enforceable. Within the Generative Law framework, entanglement is reinterpreted as the enforcement of a single admissible law across multiple entities. Scaling entanglement therefore corresponds to scaling a global law under increasing constraint density. We show that this scaling encounters a fundamental limit: beyond a certain complexity threshold, admissibility constraints proliferate faster than they can be coherently maintained, leading to inevitable law leakage and the emergence of classical behavior. This analysis reframes the quantum–classical boundary as a law-complexity threshold rather than an ontological divide. Classicality appears not as a distinct regime of reality, but as the natural outcome of failed global law enforcement under complexity growth. No appeal to wavefunction realism, collapse postulates, or observer-dependent ontology is required. This article is part of a broader theoretical program investigating the emergence of spacetime, geometry, and physical structure from the ψ–Θ–χ continuum. Boundary Compression and the Origin of Classical Reality: A Resolution of the Quantum Measurement Problem

Mark E. Mala

Convergence Codex — Stage A Capstone Paper Tier: meta | Cascade Level: 5 The deepest structures of physical reality—from quantum measurement to spacetime geometry—exhibit a profound commonality that has eluded unified description. Across disparate domains, fundamental properties emerge only through measurement contexts, suggesting that reality's architecture operates through principles more fundamental than the specific laws governing each domain. The structural content of physical reality is determined by information-theoretic compression that occurs precisely at dimensional boundaries where global constraints meet local measurement contexts. This compression mechanism manifests wherever higher-dimensional possibilities must be encoded into lower-dimensional observations: quantum states collapsing to measurement outcomes, gauge symmetries breaking to observable forces, and gravitational horizons encoding bulk information on boundaries. If correct, this principle predicts that any sufficiently complex physical system will exhibit maximum information compression at its dimensional boundaries, with the compression ratio determined by the mismatch between global and local degrees of freedom. New phases of matter should emerge at critical compression thresholds. Black hole interiors should contain precisely the information content that saturates their boundary encoding capacity. Most radically, the principle suggests that physical laws themselves emerge from optimal compression schemes at cosmic boundaries—making the universe's fundamental constants consequences of its global encoding constraints rather than arbitrary parameters.
