Supersymmetry and Superstring Theory with Engineering Applications

Harish Parthasarathy

This book introduces the vast subject of supersymmetry along with many specific examples of engineering applications, for example: The design of quantum unitary gates using supersymmetric actions Bosonic and Fermionic noise in quantum systems using the Hudson-Parthasarathy quantum stochastic calculus Superstring theory applied to the quantum mechanics of neurons and supersymmetric quantum filtering theory which can, for example, be used to filter out the noise in a cavity resonator electromagnetic field produced by the presence electrons and positrons in a bath surrounding it Simplified versions of super-Yang-Mills theory with gauge and gaugino fields, both transforming under the adjoint representation of the gauge group and elementary super-gravity models have also been introduced All through the book, emphasis is laid upon exploiting the supersymmetry existing in the nature of Boson-Fermion exchange in designing engineering systems like quantum computers and analyzing the performance of systems in the presence of supersymmetric quantum noise.

Quantum Computing for the Brain

Melanie Swan, Renato Pires dos Santos, Mikhail Lebedev +1 more

"Quantum Computing for the Brain argues that the brain is the killer application for quantum computing. No other system is as complex, as multidimensional in time and space, as dynamic, as less well-understood, as of peak interest, and as in need of three-dimensional modeling as it functions in real-life, as the brain. Quantum computing has emerged as a platform suited to contemporary data processing needs, surpassing classical computing and supercomputing. This book shows how quantum computing's increased capacity to model classical data with quantum states and the ability to run more complex permutations of problems can be employed in neuroscience applications such as neural signaling and synaptic integration. State-of-the-art methods are discussed such as quantum machine learning, tensor networks, Born machines, quantum kernel learning, wavelet transforms, Rydberg atom arrays, ion traps, boson sampling, graph-theoretic models, quantum optical machine learning, neuromorphic architectures, spiking neural networks, quantum teleportation, and quantum walks. Quantum Computing for the Brain is a comprehensive one-stop resource for an improved understanding of the converging research frontiers of foundational physics, information theory, and neuroscience in the context of quantum computing"--

Quantum neural networks for machine learning applied to the tracking and control of the dynamics of stochastic transmission lines

Harish Parthasarathy, Arti Vaish

In most of the machine learning problems based on classical neural networks, we try to identify a nonlinear system which may or may not have memory by adapting the weights of the neural network so that for the same input process applied to the system as well as to the neural network, the network output matches that of the true system output in the mean square sense or in the sense of some other metric on the space of output processes. If the network is feed forward, then this model can be used to simulate a memory-less nonlinear system. If however the actual system has memory and is described by a stochastic difference equation for its state followed by an output equation that is a function of the state, then we can use a recurrent neural network (RNN) whose state dynamics are described by a nonlinear difference equation involving weights as parameters and the state and weights of the RNN can be estimated from noisy measurements of the actual system output by means of the extended Kalman filter. If however, we are interested in estimating the joint probability density of a vector valued process like the transmission line current and voltage at different points along the line at all times, then a classical neural network will not work. This is because a probability density has several constraints like non-negativity and integrability to unity, and so on, and a classical neural network does not take care of these constraints.
