Information Conservation Without Geometric Unitarity Clarifying the Black-Hole Information Paradox

Abstract

This clarification addresses a common assumption in modern physics: that information conservation necessarily requires unitary, reversible evolution within spacetime. Within the Communication Matrix framework, information conservation is instead treated as a global, non-geometric constraint on admissible configurations rather than a requirement imposed on geometric dynamics. The note introduces the concept of a continuous substrate-level ledger, in which information is recorded contemporaneously with geometric realization. Each probability-bubble collapse is immediately registered as a constraint update, without storing retrievable histories, timelines, or microstates. Conservation is therefore a continuous process tied to state actualization, not a deferred archival event or end-state “download.” By explicitly separating substrate-level conservation from spacetime-level unitarity, the note demonstrates how geometric evolution may become non-unitary and irreversible during regime transitions—such as collapse, saturation, or black-hole formation—without violating information conservation. The black-hole information paradox is shown to arise from a category error: conflating global conservation with local geometric reversibility. This document is intended as a focused clarification rather than a new dynamical proposal, and is compatible with standard quantum mechanics within its regime of validity.

Black Holes, Information, and Admissibility: Reframing the Information Paradox Without Loss or Preservation (IM-D003, v0.3)

Anders Nils Gunnar Widgren

This document is part of the Informational Mechanics (IM) framework and is published in the IM-D (Core Physics) series within the IM v0.3 corpus. The paper addresses the black hole information problem by re-examining the physical meaning of information under extreme gravitational collapse. Rather than treating the problem as a conflict between information loss and information preservation, the analysis argues that both alternatives presuppose the continued admissibility of operator-defined information in regimes where the structural conditions required to define information may no longer hold. Within Informational Mechanics, information is defined only where admissible structure exists: stable distinctions, persistent identities, and reproducible correlations supported by operational comparability under disturbance. Under gravitational collapse and evaporation, these conditions fail. In such regimes, the operators required to define, track, or recover information cease to be physically implementable, rendering questions of loss or preservation physically undefined rather than false. This admissibility-based perspective reframes the black hole information paradox without introducing new dynamics, modifying quantum mechanics, or invoking observer-dependent ontologies. Formal unitarity may remain intact at the level of mathematical description, while the physical content of information-bearing correlations becomes inadmissible. The firewall paradox is treated as a direct corollary, arising from an inadmissible demand for simultaneous operator-defined access to interior, exterior, and horizon-spanning descriptions. The paper synthesizes and clarifies the distinct insights associated with Penrose, Hawking, and Susskind by showing that each applies within a different admissible regime. Black holes are treated as local admissibility boundaries, analogous to cosmological regime boundaries analyzed in Regime Condensation Cosmology (IM-D002). This work introduces no new dynamics, models, or experimental fits. Its contribution is disciplinary and structural: to clarify the regime conditions under which “information” is physically defined, and to reclassify the paradox as an inadmissible demand for simultaneous operator-defined access across incompatible regimes.

Operational Unitarity: Resolving the Black Hole Information Paradox via the Operational Coherence Bound

Jason Gabriel Davis

The black hole information paradox presents a fundamental tension between the global unitarity of quantum mechanics and the apparent thermal, mixed-state nature of Hawking radiation. We propose a resolution grounded strictly in the Operational Coherence Bound (OCB), a covariant entropy constraint asserting that while formal (global) information may be unbounded, the operationally accessible and distinguishable information available to any single observer must be finite. By defining operational entropy via vacuum-subtracted relative entropy to ensure finiteness in continuum quantum field theory, we prove the Operational Unitarity Theorem: in a black hole spacetime satisfying the OCB, no single observer can operationally distinguish between unitary and non-unitary evolution of the global state. This framework resolves the Hawking information loss claim, the Page curve verification problem, and the AMPS firewall paradox by demonstrating that the causal geometry of black holes dynamically enforces an observer-indexed cap on cumulative information access. Global unitarity is preserved, but its operational verification is strictly forbidden by the geometric constraints of the observer’s causal diamond. This paper was originally integrated into the Unified Framework for Yang-Mills Mass Gap, QCD Confinement, and Black Hole Information paper uploaded in March 2026 https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18829529 Version 3 updates a duplication error I made in the last version.

Unitary Evolution Across Regime Transitions: Structural Non-Derivability Under Admissibility Constraints (IM-D005, v0.3)

Anders Nils Gunnar Widgren

This document is part of the Informational Mechanics (IM) framework and is published in the IM-D (Core Physics) series within the IM v0.3 corpus. The paper analyzes the status of unitary evolution when physical description crosses regime boundaries. While unitary time evolution is well-defined within admissible geometric regimes, its extension across inadmissible regime transitions is shown to lack structural derivability unless operator-defined state continuity can be physically implemented. Building on the regime-limited validity arguments of IM-C003 and the operator criteria formalized in IM-E001, the paper demonstrates that global unitarity cannot be presumed as an ontological default. Instead, unitary evolution must be treated as a regime-bound statement whose validity depends on the continued implementability of the operators required to define and compare physical states. The analysis introduces no new axioms, dynamical models, or empirical fits. Its contribution is structural: to clarify the admissibility conditions under which claims of global state continuity remain scientifically meaningful and to show why cross-regime extrapolations of unitarity constitute a category error when operator-access fails. Downstream empirical and simulation-based evaluation of regime transitions is addressed in the IM-G series.

The Burden of Black-Hole Information Preservation: An Event-Horizon Premise Challenge

Rick - PraxisFoundry001

This work examines a specific premise in the black-hole information problem: the assertion that complete quantum evolution preserves arbitrary initial quantum distinctions through the full formation and evaporation of an actual four-dimensional black hole possessing a genuine event horizon. The paper does not argue that fundamental information destruction occurs. It does not reject unitary quantum mechanics or the substantial mathematical progress represented by holography, quantum error correction, entanglement islands, replica wormholes, Page-curve calculations, asymptotic observable algebras, or gravitational reconstruction. Instead, it asks what establishes that the scope of such results reaches the complete physical black-hole process for which global preservation is asserted. For a registered ordinary future-directed causal route from strictly inside a genuine event horizon to the stipulated exterior future, the event-horizon and Structural Flow translation premises imply that ordinary outward Cascade and same-route Authorization do not occur. This route result does not determine the global fate of quantum information. The restricted horizon-facing premises entail neither guaranteed global quantum-information preservation nor fundamental global information destruction. The complete physical fate therefore remains dependent on additional physics-owned premises. The work distinguishes global preservation from restricted exterior recoverability. A preservation claim must specify the physical target process, admitted quantum input family, governing dynamics, physically complete output system, relevant quantum-coherence burden, and applicability of the mathematical result to the actual gravitational regime being claimed. Recovery from Hawking radiation alone is not privileged as the only admissible proof route, and inability to recover information from a restricted radiation subsystem is not sufficient to establish fundamental loss. A public falsification and reopening protocol accompanies the paper. It separates model- and code-level advances, physical preservation or loss results, event-horizon domain-translation failures, and genuine foundational Structural Flow counterderivations. A black-hole-specific failure does not automatically reopen universal Structural Flow, the Universal Kernel, or the TOE. The release also includes a machine companion and a consolidated Lean formal append evaluated with the unchanged Structural_Flow_Universal_Kernel_v1.0.lean. The supplied Lean Web execution record reported all 68 expected theorem checkpoints from the integrated source with no compiler errors reported. The consolidated BH-EH source contains 69 theorem declarations. Machine closure is explicitly limited to the encoded conditional logical scope. The formal layer does not establish the existence of an actual event horizon, the physical validity of the Structural Flow translation, complete quantum-gravitational dynamics, or the global information fate of real black holes. This coordinated package contains the scientific anchor, public falsification/reopening protocol, machine companion, scoped BH-EH formal append, and frozen Universal Kernel.

Horizon-Indistinguishable Quantum Information Unitary Evaporation, Code Subspaces, and the Black-Hole Information-Loss Contradiction

Darren Jeffers

This paper presents a structural resolution of the black-hole information-loss contradiction using standard quantum-information and operator-algebraic ideas. The central argument is that local horizon regularity, unitary evolution, locally thermal-looking radiation, no cloning, and complete final information recovery are not mutually inconsistent unless one additionally assumes that the interior partner and the radiation reconstruction must remain permanently independent physical subsystems. The paper develops an alternative framework in which globally encoded quantum information can remain invisible to the local horizon observable algebra while being preserved exactly in the total quantum state and progressively transferred into correlations within the emitted radiation. An explicit finite-dimensional code model demonstrates that each individual emitted subsystem can appear locally universal while arbitrary quantum information, including entanglement with an external reference system, remains exactly preserved and fully recoverable from the final radiation. The analysis also distinguishes the local horizon-partner role from the global microstate information and from the physical carrier that realizes either role at a given stage of evaporation. This separation removes the apparent monogamy conflict without violating linearity, no cloning, or unitary quantum mechanics. A complementary entropy analysis shows how a Page-like transition can arise when the responsibility for purification becomes progressively reconstructible from the radiation. The paper does not claim a complete dynamical theory of astrophysical black-hole evaporation. Instead, it establishes a mathematically explicit consistency framework showing that the standard information-loss contradiction is not forced by local thermality and unitarity alone, and it identifies the remaining physical problem as the derivation of the appropriate horizon observable algebra and evaporation dynamics from a complete theory of gravity.
