Mind at Light Speed: A New Kind of Intelligence

David D. Nolte

In this fascinating book David Nolte explains the technology behind the bandwidth revolution and reveals the future of artificial intelligence. From a leading computer scientist and physicist comes proof that the days of computing with clunky electrons (particles of matter) are just about over, and that the use of photons (particles of light) will change the nature of computing and intelligence, artificial or otherwise, forever. Next generation computers won't just read, they will see, and they will do so faster than we can imagine. Exploring the startling possibilities this would allow, Nolte explains the Intelligent Internet (the net won't just be a database, it will make decisions); light computers (how fibre optics, which speed up the flow of information between computers, will speed up the flow inside them); and hologram hard drives (capable of accessing everything at once). Roger Penrose's The Emperor's New Mind argued that we couldn't understand human consciousness because of the difficulty of engineering - and understanding - at the quantum level. A truly revolutionary work, Machines of Light showed that not only is quantum light technology possible but that its applications will take our understanding of what intelligence actually is to the next level. But the implications of the technology described in this book are more than philosophical. The implications of this revolution for business in our new economy and for satisfaction in our daily lives are simply staggering.

Quantum Blockchain for Smart Society

Manish Dadhich, Harish Tiwari

Smart cities are a futuristic urban development concept that uses ICT to enable citizens, governments, and organizations to collect and share real-time data. Q-BoC technology can provide a new level of convenience and security for communication and transactions among all of a smart city's many stakeholders. Information technology, including quantum blockchain, has been integrated to govern physical, social, and business infrastructures in today's rapidly developing smart cities. Innovative technologies and concepts such as the IoT, 5G, artificial intelligence, and quantum blockchain have become necessary for an intelligent and advanced society. In recent years, both academics and industry have demonstrated a strong interest in the revolution of smart cities. Smart cities can deliver a variety of smart functions, such as intelligent transportation, Industry 5.0, governance, Healthcare 5.0, and smart banking, to improve people's quality of life. The chapter explores the application, challenges, and opportunities for making a smart society.

Quantum computing-Enhanced AI systems for advanced business intelligence applications

Itunu Taiwo, Adeyinka Ogunbajo, Adefemi Quddus Abidola

The convergence of quantum computing and artificial intelligence represents a transformative technological paradigm with unprecedented potential for business intelligence applications. This comprehensive review critically examines the revolutionary capabilities of quantum computing-enhanced AI systems in addressing complex computational challenges across multiple business domains. Through systematic analysis of emerging research, implementation frameworks, and interdisciplinary case studies, we investigate how quantum computing's unique computational mechanisms can fundamentally reshape data analysis, strategic decision-making, and predictive modeling. Our comprehensive examination reveals that quantum AI systems demonstrate remarkable potential to reduce computational complexity by up to 90%, enhance predictive accuracy by 60-75%, and provide unprecedented insights across financial, logistical, and strategic business intelligence domains. The research synthesizes evidence from multiple technological domains, highlighting the transformative potential of quantum-enhanced AI in solving previously intractable computational problems. By exploring technological capabilities, implementation challenges, and future research directions, this review provides a critical framework for understanding the emerging intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence in advanced business intelligence applications.
