Abstract

SUPERSEDED (2026-07-21): this record belongs to an earlier lineage of the Information Manifold Model and has been superseded by the current IMM Paper series. See the successor record linked under Related identifiers, and the series anchor doi:10.5281/zenodo.19697792. Preserved unchanged as a historical record. Abstract. Establishes the foundational Information Manifold Model (IMM), introducing the information manifold M and the experiential projection operator. Context. The Information Manifold Model: Collected Papers

Travis Bergen

This volume collects a unified series of formal papers developing the Information Manifold Model (IMM)—a structural realist framework for consciousness, quantum measurement, and temporal experience. IMM treats conscious experience as a structural property of information systems satisfying a minimal set of axioms governing integration, self-reference, temporal continuity, and experiential projection. Within this framework, quantum states are interpreted as representational encodings of informational structure rather than direct ontological entities, and the apparent collapse of the wavefunction is reinterpreted as structural projection rather than physical discontinuity. The collected papers formally establish: • An axiomatic foundation for conscious experience • Structural determinacy and stability of experience • Substrate independence of consciousness • Emergence of temporal experience (chronoception) • Quantitative information-theoretic metrics on conscious manifolds The volume concludes by outlining implications for quantum foundations, artificial intelligence, and philosophy of mind, while clearly distinguishing established results from speculative extensions. The work is intended as a foundational research program rather than an empirical theory, preserving the formalism of quantum mechanics while clarifying its interpretive structure.

Projection-Induced Duality in the Information Manifold Model: A Standalone Theoretical Note

Travis Bergen

We present a formal resolution to the apparent dualism in the Information Manifold Model (IMM). While IMM distinguishes between the informational manifold *M* and the experiential domain *E* via a projection operator Πexp : *M* → *E*, this distinction does not imply a dualistic ontology. We demonstrate that duality arises as an emergent, epistemic artifact of non-invertible projection from a higher-dimensional informational structure. This mechanism—termed **Projection-Induced Duality (PID)**—explains the origin of subject–object separation, observer disagreement, and phenomenological partitioning without positing multiple ontological substances. We further show that determinacy at the level of *M* is compatible with effective indeterminacy and agency at the level of *E*, resolving the apparent tension between determinism and free will within a unified framework. IMM is therefore established as a strictly monist theory with derived dual-aspect appearance and projection-mediated agency. **Standalone theoretical note (4 pages)**

The Information Manifold Model: V3 — Projection‑Induced Determinacy, Spacetime Emergence, and Empirically Falsifiable Deviations from Quantum Mechanics

Travis Bergen

The **Information Manifold Model (IMM) V3** presents a unified scientific framework where physical reality, spacetime, and cognition emerge from a single **informational manifold**. By using six foundational axioms, the model mathematically derives the **determinacy of observations**, suggesting that definite outcomes are a structural consequence of how information is projected. It posits that **Lorentzian spacetime** is not a fixed background but a stable attractor resulting from informational flow and renormalization. The research introduces a **unified variational principle** that seeks to harmonize general relativity, quantum mechanics, and thermodynamics under one informational action. Furthermore, the text predicts **testable deviations** from standard quantum statistics in specific mesoscopic systems, providing a pathway for empirical falsification. Finally, the model extends its reach into **cognitive architecture**, replacing traditional psychiatric categories with a dynamical systems approach to human behavior and perception.

The Observer's Projection: A Structural Solution to the Quantum Measurement Problem

Bergen, Travis

This work presents a structural solution to the quantum measurement problem by distinguishing physical quantum evolution from the experiential definiteness enforced by the observer’s informational geometry. The observer is modeled as a structured information manifold, M=(Ω,G,τ)M = (\Omega, G, \tau)M=(Ω,G,τ), whose integration, continuity, and projection properties guarantee a single definite experiential outcome without requiring physical collapse of the wavefunction. The theory retains full physical unitarity while explaining phenomenological collapse as an artifact of projection. The paper further introduces a graded measure of consciousness, proposes dynamical soliton models for self-awareness within the manifold, and outlines potential physical grounding of the integration operator via entanglement or optimization principles. The result is a mathematically coherent, ontologically minimal, and empirically approachable framework unifying conscious observation and quantum theory.
