Title: Envelopment over Unification: Recovering Einstein’s Dream via a Generativity-First Framework Subtitle: The Sampling Paradox of State-Based Quantum Gravity and the Return to It from Wave Abstract: This paper identifies the fundamental cause of the century-long impasse in unifying quantum mechanics (QM) and general relativity (GR) as a "Sampling Paradox." Modern physics is epistemically constrained to perceive reality as a collection of static "states"—discrete snapshots sampled from a continuous generative flow. At the Planck scale, the instability of the carrier (spacetime geometry) makes the reconstruction of the generative source from these samples logically impossible. The Envelopment Framework: Departing from traditional state-based programs, we propose a "Generativity-First" ontology called Envelopment. This framework adopts a three-layer hierarchy: Primary Layer (Wave): The continuous, non-linear phase flow of the universe ("It from Wave"). Secondary Layer (Geometry): Spacetime as a stabilized, self-organizing attractor. Tertiary Layer (State): Matter and information as discrete, resolution-dependent projections. Mathematical and Information-Theoretic Foundations: We characterize the primary generative law using a non-linear evolution equation analogous to the Complex Ginzburg-Landau Equation (CGLE). In this model, spacetime geometry emerges as a steady-state attractor, while quantum states manifest as localized interference patterns. We re-derive the Energy-Time Uncertainty Relation as a rigorous consequence of finite temporal sampling windows (delta-t). Here, "uncertainty" is not an inherent fuzziness of nature but an informational limit imposed by the "shutter speed" of observation. Key Contributions: Planckian Aliasing: Redefines quantum vacuum noise as "folded" generative rhythms. The theory predicts non-random, phase-locked structures detectable through homodyne detection in quantum optics or advanced spectral analysis of LIGO data. Envelopment of Existing Theories: Repositions prominent programs—such as AdS/CFT (as shadow-to-object projections), Loop Quantum Gravity (as descriptions of discrete sampling units), and String Theory (as organizations of state-excitations)—as high-precision descriptions of specific projected regimes. The Observer as Co-creator: Positions the observer at the interface of sampling resolution, where the choice of the observational window determines which aspect of the generative wave is rendered as a physical "state." Significance: By shifting the ontological priority from "States" (nouns) to "Generativity" (verbs), this research offers a consistent bridge between continuous flow and discrete observation. It provides a roadmap for future numerical simulations based on non-linear dynamical systems and offers testable predictions for the deterministic structure of quantum noise. Why do quantum paradoxes persist despite flawless equations? This paper argues that thermal pure states, black hole information loss, and recurrence arise not from physics itself, but from mistaking sampled descriptions for generative reality. Reframes TPS, black hole information, and recurrence through sampling theory as a unified framework Identifies these paradoxes as artifacts of observational projection, not physical inconsistency Clarifies the role of horizons, decoherence, and coarse-graining as irreversible sampling filters Resolves loss–preservation and purity–thermality tensions without new postulates or dynamics Positions sampling theory as an ontological interface between quantum formalism and physical meaning This paper provides a unified reformulation of three longstanding issues in quantum foundations—Thermal Pure States (TPS), the black hole information problem, and Poincaré recurrence—through the lens of sampling theory. Rather than treating these phenomena as independent paradoxes or signs of physical inconsistency, the paper argues that they share a common structural origin: the ontological misplacement of sampled, discrete descriptions as substitutes for underlying generative processes. By explicitly distinguishing continuous generation from observational projection, the paper shows that TPS naturally appear thermal under partial sampling while remaining globally pure, that event horizons act as irreversible band-limiting filters rather than sites of information destruction, and that recurrence arises only within idealized models that implicitly assume perfect reconstruction. In each case, paradox emerges when observational limits are ignored and sample-level quantities are reified as complete representations of reality. Importantly, this framework introduces no new physical postulates or dynamics. Instead, it clarifies the domain of validity of existing quantum, statistical, and gravitational theories by restoring the role of sampling as a foundational constraint. Sampling theory thus functions as an ontological interface, dissolving several persistent quantum paradoxes by realigning formal descriptions with the conditions under which they retain physical meaning. Series Context and Related Works This paper belongs to a broader, coherent research program that reframes physics, ethics, and civilization through a generativity-first ontology, often referred to as Life-OS or It from Wave. Across this series, existence is understood as generative resonance rather than static substance, and many modern paradoxes are interpreted as artifacts of measurement, projection, and over-crystallization. The Problem of Time — the apparent incompatibility between quantum mechanics' time parameter t and general relativity's proper time τ — has been treated as a fundamental obstacle to quantum gravity. I argue that this is a level-confusion: both theories define time within their own entity-theoretic frameworks, generating an apparent opposition that disappears when time is relocated to a meta-structural layer. Drawing on the meta-level temporal structure T_SDT := (V_G, ≺) (Zeng 2026), the paper formalizes QM and GR time as two projections of a single Universal Time Formula, parameterized by entity-theoretic tokens. Four token specializations recover the corresponding time concepts. A Bridge Theorem establishes mutual compatibility of all token projections. A bidirectional QM-GR channel is constructed (forward: GR geometry → QM phase; reverse: discrete chain-pair → Lorentzian spacetime), composing into a self-consistent closed loop. Three further results move beyond dissolution toward unification. First, a Madelung-bridge construction derives the Schrödinger equation — Hilbert space, unitarity, Hamiltonian, quantum potential, Born rule — from the determination-graph axioms together with the continuum embedding (CL1), with no independent QM input; the derivation extends to Klein-Gordon. Second, a Planck-scale token μ = t_P / |A_{v'}| is constructed on the discrete 𝒢_D, where |A_{v'}| is the admissibility cardinality; under CL1, this single step-measure recovers QM (|A| ≫ 1) and GR (|A| = 1) as its two continuum limits, with Einstein's equation proved in the classical regime (|A| = 1) via a two-stage argument (Benincasa-Dowker action convergence + standard scalar-tensor variation). The exact quantum-gravitational correction is derived as a scalar-tensor equation with φ = 1/|A|. Third, the discrete determination graph without continuum embedding constitutes a self-contained Planck-scale quantum gravity theory: it has a well-defined path integral, a finite-dimensional S-matrix (unitary in the κ = 0 sector, isometric in the κ > 0 sector; no UV divergences), preserves information across black hole horizons, resolves singularities, derives the Past Hypothesis, and provides structural origins for gauge symmetry, Hawking radiation, spectral dimensionality, and the spin-statistics connection. The Problem of Time is not merely dissolved — it is replaced by a constructive framework in which QM and GR are unified as two limits of a single discrete structure.
Modern theoretical physics rests on two highly successful but conceptually distinct frameworks: quantum mechanics and general relativity. While both theories are experimentally confirmed to high precision within their respective domains, they rely on fundamentally different starting points. General relativity takes spacetime as a primitive geometric structure, whereas quantum mechanics is formulated in terms of abstract state spaces without intrinsic spacetime meaning. Most approaches to quantum gravity attempt to reconcile this tension by modifying, quantizing, or discretizing spacetime itself. Even in approaches where spacetime is said to be “emergent,” it typically remains the primary conceptual backdrop on which physical processes are defined. Despite extensive efforts, there is no consensus on whether spacetime should be regarded as fundamental or derivative. In this work, a more radical starting point is explored. Rather than modifying spacetime or its geometry, we ask whether spacetime can be excluded entirely from the fundamental layer of the theory and recovered only at a later, operational stage. The central question is not how spacetime behaves, but whether the notion of “what lies between physical objects” must be spatial or temporal at the most fundamental level. We propose a framework—referred to here as Super Relativity (SR)—based on a single pre-geometric postulate: the existence of a monotonically expanding set of possible quantum configurations, referred to as the flux. Formally, this flux is represented as a monotone, σ-finite family of capacity measures on a common configuration space (introduced in Section 2). This postulate deliberately refrains from assuming spacetime, time ordering, metric structure, causality, or dynamics. Within this pre-geometric core, two derived, dimensionless notions are introduced: utilization, describing the realization of configurations, and saturation, defined as the ratio between utilized and available configurations. A central structural element of SR is the strict separation between a core layer and an interface layer. In the core layer, all quantities are pre-geometric and dimensionless, and no reference is made to space, time, motion, energy, or interaction. Only at the interface layer are operational notions introduced, including clocks, rulers, and signal propagation. Spacetime, in this construction, is not a dynamical entity but an effective bookkeeping structure that encodes relative rates of change once a calibration to physical units is performed. Within this framework, gravitational phenomena do not originate from spacetime curvature taken as fundamental. Instead, they arise from variations in saturation that, at the interface level, manifest as uniform rescalings of physical processes. When expressed in geometric language, these rescalings reproduce the standard predictions of general relativity, including gravitational time dilation and the equivalence between gravitation and acceleration. The invariant local speed of light is not postulated but follows as a derived consequence, since both clock rates and signal propagation are affected identically by the same underlying saturation mechanism. The aim of this paper is not to introduce new empirical predictions beyond those of general relativity, nor to present a complete theory of quantum gravity. Rather, the objective is foundational: to demonstrate that the mathematical structure of general relativity can be reconstructed from a single pre-geometric postulate without assuming spacetime as part of the fundamental ontology. In this sense, SR should be understood as a reconstruction and reinterpretation of known physics, rather than as a competing dynamical theory. An extended and fully explicit formulation of the framework, including all intermediate steps, is available in a companion preprint (version V12) deposited on Zenodo. The present paper restricts itself to the minimal conceptual and mathematical structure required to establish logical consistency and to demonstrate the emergence of general-relativistic behavior at the interface level.
Abstract This paper proposes that time is not a fundamental dimension of reality but an emergent property generated through a specific causal chain originating in a quantum gravitational mechanism not yet fully characterized by existing physics. There is no universal t = 0 in an absolute sense. There is only a threshold at which the quantum gravitational mechanism begins to generate motion, and time becomes applicable within a localized system only after that threshold is crossed. The central chain of inference is as follows: the quantum gravitational mechanism generates motion; motion generates new distinguishable information states; time is the ordered accumulation of those information states; and because information cannot be destroyed in the ontological sense proposed by this framework, the temporal sequence is irreversible by structural necessity rather than by thermodynamic probability. This four-step chain is not merely a restatement of existing physics in new language. It provides a mechanistic basis for the arrow of time, a physical account of wave function collapse, a structural explanation for the ontological threshold at quantum measurement, a reframing of the QM/GR incompatibility, a structural consequence for time travel impossibility within the framework’s own ontology, a predicted structural basis for the Hubble tension, an ontological resolution of quantum information scrambling — identifying apparent scrambling not as a property of the information itself but as an artifact of the outside-in observational position encountering the statistical surface of an internally ordered generative record that remains perfectly traceable from the inside-out perspective — and a precise reframing of the photon proper time paradox, identifying the τ = 0 result not as experiential simultaneity but as the expected mathematical signature of a massless particle operating at the c boundary condition of the emergent temporal domain where derived temporal measures are structurally inapplicable — each as a consequence of the same single ontological principle rather than as separately introduced claims. The fact that a single ontological principle generates resolutions to problems that physics has treated as unrelated for decades is not coincidental. It is the kind of convergent explanatory structure that has historically accompanied correct foundational claims — and the experimental program described here is designed to determine whether this framework earns that status. The ontology advanced here is referred to as Generative Inscription: the view that ordered time is the downstream accumulation of irreversibly inscribed state distinctions generated by motion from an upstream quantum-gravitational source. This framework advances toward operational unity by introducing a time-generation scalar field χ encoding the local density of irreversible information state generation per unit of action, a coupling constant κmotion defining the relationship between kinetic energy flux and information state generation rate, a phase transition model for the ontological threshold, a formal discriminator (ℛtot) bounding apparent thermodynamic time reversal against an absolute ontological record burden, candidate scaling laws for experimental signatures in fusion plasma diagnostics, a modified Friedmann equation incorporating geometric temporal asymmetry, and a defined set of minimal admissibility conditions formalizing the quantum gravitational mechanism as a constrained generator class rather than an unspecified placeholder. The primary coordinate is shifted from standard time t to Action S, with t emerging as a derived parameter, so that the mathematical structure reflects the ontological hierarchy this proposed framework claims. The framework employs an action-parameterized tangent vector rather than the standard four-velocity, separates coupling constants by operational scale, and adopts the Maupertuis formulation of action as the primary coordinate from which time derives. The framework is explicitly differentiated from related prior work by Wiltshire, Barbour, Vaccaro, and Brukner. Two cosmological predictions follow structurally from the core ontology: χ field convergence nodes at cosmic web filament intersections produce qualitatively distinct temporal environments, and gravitational wave events constitute propagating χ field disturbances with testable quantum measurement correlatives. Recent experimental observation of superluminal optical vortex motion provides an empirical glimpse of the distinction this framework draws between the generating mechanism’s operational level and the emergent temporal domain c governs. The experimental program described in Section 6 is not separate from the theory. It is the proposed inside-out crucible by which the framework would be falsified or strengthened through sustained nuclear fusion plasma diagnostics operating at stellar-interior conditions as should become available as fusion reactor technologies reach operational status within the next 10 to 20 years. This report presents a stand‑alone generative resolution of the long‑standing conflict between quantum theory and general relativity. Instead of treating spacetime or probability as fundamental, the framework introduces possibility—existing in latent and realised modes—as the underlying substrate from which physical behaviour emerges. Quantum evolution, collapse, gravitational curvature, thermodynamic restructuring, and macroscopic identity are shown to be phase‑specific expressions of a single generative process. The central construct is the phase field, which governs transitions between predictive, collapse, geometric, developmental, and identity‑stabilising regimes. Quantum behaviour arises when predictive continuation and collapse dominate; gravitational behaviour emerges when stabilised realisation induces generative curvature; thermodynamic and renormalisation‑group behaviour appear in intermediate developmental regimes.By deriving quantum, gravitational, thermodynamic, and classical limits from the same generative law, the report dissolves the apparent contradictions between unitary evolution, collapse, curvature, locality, and nonlocality. The result is a unified ontology and dynamics in which probability, geometry, and identity are emergent rather than fundamental. The document is fully self‑contained and does not assume familiarity with previous work.
Modern physics has struggled for decades with the Problem of Time, where attempts to unify quantum mechanics and gravity appear to eliminate time entirely. This paper argues that this paradox is not mathematical but ontological in origin. Using Universal Phase-Crystallization Theory (UPCT), we show that time disappears when generative reality is forced into static structural description. We propose instead that time emerges from generative–relational dynamics. This work suggests that the Problem of Time signals a broader transition from structural science to generative science. Highlights • Provides a UPCT-based ontological resolution of the Problem of Time• Reinterprets Wheeler–DeWitt timelessness as a structural description limit• Defines time as relational stabilization of generative change• Connects quantum gravity debates with generative ontology• Suggests a paradigm shift from structural physics to generative science Extended Abstract The Problem of Time remains one of the most persistent conceptual challenges in theoretical physics. When quantum mechanics is applied to the entire universe, the Wheeler–DeWitt equation predicts a static cosmos in which time fundamentally disappears. This contradiction between theory and experience has remained unresolved for more than half a century. This paper proposes that the paradox arises not from mathematical inconsistency but from ontological assumptions embedded within structural descriptions of reality. Specifically, we argue that attempts to describe generative totality using state-based frameworks inevitably eliminate temporal dynamics. Using the Universal Phase-Crystallization Theory (UPCT), which models existence as an interaction between generativity (Φ), relational mediation (G), and structural stabilization (S), we demonstrate that time naturally emerges only at the relational level. Time is therefore not a fundamental background parameter but a local phenomenon produced by generative interaction. This interpretation provides conceptual alignment with relational quantum mechanics and background-independent approaches while extending them into a broader ontological framework capable of integrating physical, cognitive, and civilizational temporal structures. We conclude that the Problem of Time represents not merely a technical obstacle but an indicator of an ongoing scientific transition from structural description toward generative understanding.
