Abstract

Today quantum communications is considered as a promising and rapidly developing technology. As this field advances, there is a growing demand for highly qualified specialists capable of solving complex challenges concerning computer science, mathematics, physics and cryptography. In response, universities and research centers worldwide are now designing and implementing new educational programs aimed at training specialists in this field. In the near future, such specialists will play a pivotal role in building communication systems that will form the backbone of the future digital economy. This article examines key points of professional training in quantum communications. This determine special knowledge and skills required for such specialists and explore the implementation specifics of the educational course «Quantum Technologies in Info communications» within the degree program 11.03.02 «Info communication Technologies and Communication Systems» at the Federal State-Funded Educational Institution of Higher Education «Povolzhskiy State University of Telecommunications and Informatics».

T. V. Kazieva, Joscelin Rabenandrasana, Sergey Yu. Kazantsev +2 more

The results of the analysis of laboratory complexes for training specialists in the field of quantum communications are presented. This review examines laboratory installations that are mass-produced and supplied to educational institutions. A classification and comparative analysis of the characteristics of these educational and research complexes has been performed. The review focuses on the analysis of the possibilities of educational laboratory complexes for use in scientific research that can be performed using this equipment. Perspective developments with the highest potential of applications in the implementation of scientific work of students in the field of quantum communications have been identified. The functional capabilities of the EMQOS 1.0 scientific and educational complex and examples of its application in scientific research are reviewed in detail. The results of studies performed using this complex in experiments on the implementation of quantum key distribution in a free atmosphere and hybrid communication lines are analyzed. The possibilities of using the EMQOS 1.0 complex to research various external influences on a fiber-optic cable through which a quantum communication channel is implemented and also the possibility of conducting metrological tests of key elements of quantum key distribution equipment, are reviewed. A number of disadvantages of the complex have been identified, the elimination of which can significantly improve the functional properties of the complex for use in scientific research. Based on research example made by various teams, options for using the complex as part of research stands are proposed, which show the significant potential of the complex for further modernization and usage in scientific research.

A COMPUTAÇÃO QUÂNTICA E O DESAFIO DA CAPACITAÇÃO TECNOLÓGICA

Mariana Godoy Vazquez Miano, Bianca Belila Rusinelli, Maurício Messias de Souza

This article explores educational initiatives for teaching quantum technologies in schools and universities, highlighting their purposes, methodologies, and challenges. In order to bring students closer to the fundamental concepts of quantum technologies, several teaching programs adopt interactive activities and simulators, offering a practical and intuitive introduction to the subject. The need for qualified professionals in the area is growing, because of the advancement of quantum computing, a great demand for specialized labor is expected in the coming years. Industries in several sectors already recognize the potential of this technology, reinforcing the urgency of training professionals capable of developing and applying quantum solutions. An exploratory survey was conducted of institutions that have integrated SPINQ quantum computers, compact devices that are relatively more affordable than traditional quantum computers, which offer a practical and interactive experience. With them, students visualize theoretical concepts in a practical context, promoting greater understanding and interest in the field. However, the adoption of quantum computers in education faces substantial challenges. High costs, limited infrastructure and a lack of specialized teachers are the main barriers, especially in countries with lower investment in education. Thus, while quantum technologies show great educational potential, their implementation requires significant structural investments to become viable and effective.

Education system of engineers and scientific personnel in the sphere of quantum information technologies, quantum robust artificial intelligence and quantum resilience

Скиба Владимир Юрьевич, Sergei Petrenko, Evgeny Abakumov

Currently, quantum technologies are the driving force behind technological progress (Industry 4.0/5.0/6.0 or Society 6.0). The development of quantum information technologies gives rise to new quantum threats to information security. The requirements of the federal project “Personnel for the Digital Economy or the Data Economy” for the key information technology – “Quantum Technologies” (Priority 1) – can be fulfilled only by developing an appropriate training system for engineering and scientific personnel in the fields of quantum information technologies, quantum robust artificial intelligence and quantum resilience. The creation of a vertically integrated education system, which includes not only basic higher education, but also the training of scientific personnel and upskilling for already employed professionals, will contribute to the development of innovative technologies in general. The paper presents the results of joint efforts of the Sirius University of Science and Technology together with the Quantum Consortium of Business and Universities to train personnel in the sphere of quantum information technologies for the development of such an education system.

QUANTUM INFORMATICS: OVERVIEW OF THE MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS

Alexander S. Sigov, E. Andrianova, Dmitry Zhukov +2 more

The urgency of conducting research in the field of quantum informatics is grounded. Promising areas of research are highlighted. For foreign and Russian publications and materials, a review of the main scientific results that characterize the current state of research in quantum computer science is made. It is noted that knowledge and funds are invested most intensively in the development of the architecture of a quantum computer and its elements. Despite the fact that today there is no information on the creation of a physical implementation of a quantum computer comparable in functionality to a classical digital computer, the development of quantum algorithms is one of the popular areas of research. An advantage of quantum algorithms is the fact that they reduce the time required to solve the problem due to the parallelization of operations by generating entangled quantum states and their subsequent use. This advantage (quantum acceleration) is most important when solving the problem of modeling the dynamics of complex systems and enumerated mathematical problems. (The general case of enumeration is the Grover scheme and its variants; the tasks of searching for hidden periods: Shor's scheme of using the fast quantum Fourier transform and its analogues.) The demand for cybersecurity developments (search for vulnerabilities in smart spaces, secure storage and use of big data, quantum cryptography) is noted. More than a dozen articles are devoted to quantum algorithms of key search, key distribution on optical fibers of various lengths, and the analysis of quantum resources necessary for conducting a cyber attack. In the field of artificial quantum intelligence, attention is paid, first of all, to the “search” for a model of a quantum neural network that is optimal from the point of view of using all the advantages presented by quantum computing and neural networks, as well as machine learning algorithms. Examples of the use of quantum computing in cognitive and social sciences for studying the decision-making mechanism with incomplete data are given. It is concluded that quantum informatics is promising for the simulation of complex natural and artificial phenomena and processes.

Mapping quantum industry demands to education: a critical analysis of skills, qualifications, and modalities

Shalini Devendrababu, Srinjoy Ganguly, Kannan Hemachandran

Abstract Quantum technologies and computing are an emerging area which offers a new paradigm to solve complex problems using the principles of quantum mechanics, where classical computing faces limits. Due to the advantages of quantum computers, today, there are several industries focusing on different aspects of quantum technologies based on their physics to explore the most efficient and useful platform for implementing applications. Since the scope of the quantum companies is diverse, it is important to understand the education, skills, and qualifications required for different job roles, as this will aid global educational institutions in constructing concentrated disciplines in this field. This paper provides a detailed critical analysis of different job descriptions for education, skills and qualifications. Most of the qubit modalities, such as superconducting, semiconducting, topological, nitrogen-vacancy centres, ion-traps, neutral atoms, and photonics, have been covered. Additionally, quantum software domains such as quantum machine learning, cryptography and error corrections have been discussed with fields such as quantum sensors and metrology. Finally, based on the patterns, recommendations are given to enable better preparation of skills and infrastructure for educational institutes and individuals who would like to pursue a career in the field of quantum technologies.
