Calculation Parameters of Satellite Optical Communication Channel With Quantum Key Distribution

M. V. Sapozhnikov, Терехин Дмитрий Николаевич, Sergey Yu. Kazantsev

The article analyzes the main trends in the field of optimization of information transmission processes using quantum methods. It is shown that numerical modeling of satellite optical communication systems is necessary in order to determine the most effective modes and parameters of communication equipment. This article is devoted to the problem of developing a software package for calculating the characteristics of a communication channel between a ground station and an artificial Earth satellite. A detailed description of the basic functions of the developed software package for calculating the characteristics of an Earth-satellite optical communication channel protected by QKD technology is presented. Based on numerical modeling using the developed software package, a comprehensive study of the influence of atmospheric losses, as well as various parameters of the receiving and transmitting equipment of both the ground station and the satellite, is carried out. In particular, when modeling the efficiency of satellite quantum key distribution and an optical communication channel, atmospheric phenomena such as refraction, absorption, aerosol scattering, as well as the parameters of the QKD equipment were taken into account. Modeling revealed the need to take into account many aspects to achieve maximum efficiency of the QKD in real conditions. It is shown that the developed software for flexible modeling of various scenarios for using atmospheric optical communications opens up new opportunities for research and practical application of quantum technologies in the field of information security, which is important for data protection in the face of growing cybersecurity threats. It is shown that the capabilities of the developed software package can contribute to the creation of standardized approaches to assessing and improving quantum key distribution systems.

Concept of Hardware-Software Complex for Secure Data Transmission Using Quantum Key Distribution

O. V. Kolesnikov, Y. K. Kozhemyako, E. M. Mavrin +2 more

The article presents the concept of developing a hardware-software complex (HSC) designed for secure data transmission in mobile networks of$5 \mathrm{G} / 6 \mathrm{G}$standards using advanced quantum key distribution (QKD) technologies. The scientific novelty of the work lies in proposing a mobile communication architecture that integrates quantum cryptographic methods to address current security challenges amid the development of next-generation networks and the emergence of threats from quantum computing. The concept involves creating a complex that combines hardware and software components within a unified architecture, ensuring secure exchange of text, audio, and video messages even in the presence of potential attacks using quantum computing. The proposed concept demonstrates the feasibility of integrating QKD into mobile network infrastructure, laying the foundation for building quantum-resistant communication systems under real-world operational conditions. The main contribution of this work is the development of a universal solution capable of maintaining data integrity and confidentiality in mobile communication channels by leveraging the fundamental principles of quantum physics. The practical relevance of the concept is confirmed by its potential to be adapted for use in critically important infrastructure scenarios and its compatibility with various mobile operating systems, offering a promising approach to ensuring secure data transmission in the context of quantum technology advancement and increased data transmission speeds in 5G/6G networks.

Software and Hardware Complex for Secure Data Transmission Using Quantum Key Distribution Technologies

P. Y. Vatskov, Y. K. Kozhemyako, O. V. Kolesnikov +3 more

Abstract An experimental prototype of a software and hardware complex for secure data transmission in 4G/5G mobile networks is developed using quantum key distribution (QKD) technologies. The structure and fundamental operational principles are outlined, along with details of both hardware and software components. The developed prototype is a fully functional system capable of secure text, audio, and video messaging. Encased in a hermetically sealed ruggedized case, the system can be deployed both indoors and outdoors.
