Application of quantum mechanics to a simple model of the nucleus gives the phenomenon of radioactive disintegration. The statistical nature of the quantum mechanics gives directly disintegration as a chance phenomenon without any special hypothesis. \textsection{}1 contains a presentation of those features of quantum mechanics which are here used and gives a simple calculation of the disintegration constant. \textsection{}2 discusses the qualitative application of the model to the nucleus. \textsection{}3 presents quantitative calculations amounting to a theoretical interpretation of the Geiger-Nuttall relation between the rate of disintegration and the energy of the emitted $\ensuremath{\alpha}$-particle. In getting this relation one arrives at the rather remarkable conclusion that the law of force between emitted $\ensuremath{\alpha}$-particle and the rest of the nucleus is substantially the same in all the atoms even where the decay rates stand in the ratio 1022. \textsection{}4 calls attention to the natural way in which the paradoxical results of Rutherford and Chadwick on the scattering of fast $\ensuremath{\alpha}$-particles by uranium receive explanation with the model here used. \textsection{}5 discusses certain limitations inherent in the methods employed.
Quantum theory is essentially a rationally coherent theory of the interaction of mind and matter, and it allows our conscious thoughts to play a causally efficacious and necessary role in brain dynamics. It therefore provides a natural basis, created by scientists, for the science of consciousness. As an illustration it is explained how the interaction of brain and consciousness can speed up brain processing, and thereby enhance the survival prospects of conscious organisms, as compared to similar organisms that lack consciousness. As a second illustration it is explained how, within the quantum framework, the consciously experienced {open_quotes}I{close_quotes} directs the actions of a human being. It is concluded that contemporary science already has an adequate framework for incorporating causally efficacious experimential events into the physical universe in a manner that: (1) puts the neural correlates of consciousness into the theory in a well defined way, (2) explains in principle how the effects of consciousness, per se, can enhance the survival prospects of organisms that possess it, (3) allows this survival effect to feed into phylogenetic development, and (4) explains how the consciously experienced {open_quotes}I{close_quotes} can direct human behaviour.
The subject of “quantum entanglement” in general doesn’t seem to be particularly considered in Europe in the form of popularizing books or of educational physics projects. These authors have started to spread out this kind of scientific culture in both forms, including popularizing seminars too. Concerning the entanglement phenomenon, recently, new thought experiments have been outlined, new laboratory results have come out in the form of real discoveries in quantum optics, new studies on “bio-entanglement” and “global consciousness effects” have been carried out, and very sophisticated new ideas have been developed in the fields of quantum physics, biophysics, cosmology and epistemology. These authors intend to show their effort of diffusing widely this growing scientific knowledge. Beyond all this there is a long-term strategy aimed at inculcating new concepts in physics in order to trigger the interest of scholars at all levels, in that which is probably the most innovative and interdisciplinary subject of the human knowledge of this new millennium. In order to accomplish this difficult task, these authors are acting in the following ways: A) explain, using intuitive examples, the basic physical mechanism (1, 2, 3, 4) of entanglement at the particle level; B) explain all the possible ways in which entanglement may involve quantum or “quantum-like” non-local effects occurring also in the macro scale (2, 3, 4) represented by biological (DNA bio-computing, microtubules), psychophysical (consciousness, synchronicity and Psi effects), astrobiological (neural spin entanglement), and cosmological (Bit Bang) environments; C) study and spread the scientific knowledge concerning alternative ways for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (5) and – specifically – prepare research projects regarding possible non-local aspects of SETI (NLSETI) and their applicability (4) on the basis of our physics knowledge and technology; D) prepare extensive plans for post-graduate courses in physics (6) with a special address to “anomalistic physics”, brain biophysics and mathematics; E) train persons and students to reach optimal concentration states – by using well experimented techniques – in order to permit them to exploit at the maximum level their intellectual and consciousness potential. All of these educational and promotional actions are aimed at training people in understanding the strict link existing between physics and consciousness in all of its aspects, in the light of a probable general phenomenon that occurs at all scales by involving (micro and macro) matter, mind and consciousness. A strategy plan containing in a self-consistent way all of these aspects will be schematically illustrated.
Reading Paul Davies recent book The New Physics [6], one cannot help but marvel at the immense success of modern physics in describing the physical world. Yet that very success leads one reviewer [9] to pause and consider where amongst the successes “may lurk some tiny murkiness destined to become the seed of the next scientific revolution” just as the quantum behaviour of light turned out to be the seed which overthrew classical physics. Davies himself notes that the role of consciousness in a quantum observation still remains an unresolved issue, “..it may be that this frontier — the interface of mind and matter — will turn out to be the most challenging legacy of the New Physics.” [6, p6]
This study presents empirical evidence suggesting that consciousness, specifically during meditative states, influences quantum interference patterns without collapsing quantum states. Using IBM's quantum processors, we developed and implemented experimental protocols to assess how different consciousness states affect quantum measurements. Our results demonstrate that meditation significantly alters quantum interference (p=0.025, Cohen's d=-2.88) while having minimal impact on coherence or entanglement. Individual meditation sessions suppressed interference by 73.3% on average, while synchronized meditation enhanced interference by 340%. Furthermore, these effects gradually dissipate following meditation with a characteristic relaxation time (τ) of approximately 74 minutes. These findings challenge von Neumann-Wigner collapse interpretations while supporting a Quantum Bayesian (QBism) model where consciousness modifies quantum probability distributions without forcing collapse. We present a mathematical framework integrating QBism with our empirical findings and discuss implications for quantum mechanics, consciousness studies, and information theory.
This project brings together a series of nine interconnected works aimed at building a unified conceptual model of reality based on the wave nature of matter, energy, and consciousness. The approach treats process, rather than object, as primary; energy is viewed as the fundamental basis, and resonance as the universal mechanism of interaction. Matter is interpreted as stable wave configurations, space as an active energy-saturated medium, and consciousness as a resonant structure linked to a physical carrier but not reducible to it. The series includes a philosophical manifesto, an ontological introduction, a mathematical model of the wave structure of matter and the fractal structure of the Universe, a hypothesis of wave equilibrium, a model of the birth of measurements and the observer, works on consciousness and brain rhythms, an interpretation of gravity and the Casimir effect, and a resonant concept of cosmological evolution. The approach does not claim to replace existing physical theories but offers an additional interpretation and unification on a common conceptual basis. The work is interdisciplinary and open to critical discussion and further development.
