Extending Signal-Bifurcation Theory into quantum foundations, this concept note argues that actuality is not given but constituted through Semepoietic stability-selection. It reframes collapse, gravity, entanglement, and consciousness as expressions of the same processual grammar, offering a unified picture of how reality unfolds.
This paper develops the quantum grounding of Signal-Bifurcation Theory (SBT) by introducing Proto-Actuality and two constitutive boundaries: the constitution of actuality and the constitution of classicality. It extends SBT’s process-monist account across quantum mechanics, gravity, thermodynamics, and consciousness within a single processual frame, rather than treating these as disconnected ontological layers. Core proposal Proto-Actuality names the pre-classical regime in which “what is real” is not yet classically tractable as stable objects and determinate histories. Classical actuality becomes available only when interaction-structure supports stability-selection and stability-inscription: some patterns stabilise and become repeatable (and so become model-tractable), while others fail to stabilise. Quantum → classical bridge (SBT framing) The quantum–classical transition is framed in stability terms: classicality is constituted when interaction yields stable continuations that can support robust, repeatable description. On this view, invariants and “laws” are treated as compressed descriptions of stabilised regularities—summaries of what stable continuations make available. Two constitutive boundaries Constitution of actuality: transition from Proto-Actuality to stable, tractable actuality (where structure can be carried forward and re-registered). Constitution of classicality: transition where actuality becomes classically describable in standard representational terms (including redundancy/decoherence conditions that enable classical robustness). Wavefunction (accessible framing) The wavefunction is treated as a bookkeeping description of interaction-structure: a formal way of tracking which outcomes are admissible and how strongly they are weighted prior to classical description (definite objects with definite properties). It is a structured summary of what the situation makes available under interaction. Collapse (classical register) Within Proto-Actuality, non-classical fluctuations and configurations can stabilise into stable continuations without “collapse” being a well-formed description, because classical partitioning (system/environment), definite outcomes, and spacetime ordering are not yet fully available. “Collapse” becomes a meaningful term only once stable structure is sufficiently instantiated for classical description, so that outcomes register as definite events within spacetime geometry. Cosmogenesis (model-relative boundary) The “Big Bang” is treated as a classical, model-relative boundary description within standard cosmology (an extrapolated regime limit of an expanding spacetime), not as an ontological absolute beginning. On this view, “beginnings” and “ends” function as regime-transition descriptions internal to particular modelling frameworks. Relation to consciousness (architectural continuity) Within the same continuity, SBT distinguishes: Semepoietic consciousness (tormentless): lived continuity in sufficiently organised sensorimotor biological systems. Semepoietic-Signal Narration: a symbolic, diagnostic overlay that stabilises with symbolic recursion and meta-recursive centring; it has regulatory function but is not the ground of consciousness. Continuity with earlier work This paper extends the quantum-grounding concept note (10.5281/zenodo.17829952) and consolidates the SBT architecture established in earlier publications (10.5281/zenodo.17211873; 10.5281/zenodo.17257839). Terminology has been refined to reduce inherited metaphysical baggage and to keep the exposition explicitly non-theistic and non-agentive. The central distinctions remain: Semepoiesis as one organisational continuity described at different resolutions; Semepoietic consciousness (tormentless) as lived continuity; and Semepoietic-Signal Narration as diagnostic overlay and modulation. This article develops a structural interpretation of “archetype” within a framework where observer equivalence—understood as invariance under admissible perspective change—serves as the criterion of objectivity. Drawing on relativity theory, gauge structure, and quantum measurement theory, archetypes are reconstructed not as psychological images but as form-generating invariants that enable translatability and re-identifiability across perspectives. The paper argues that actuality should be understood as the outcome of selection and symmetry breaking rather than as the manifestation of pre-given substance. Within this framework, consciousness is interpreted structurally as perspective-bound actualization: the functional locus at which a possibility structure becomes bound to determinate outcomes, without invoking a homunculus and without endorsing “consciousness causes collapse” interpretations. The aim is to clarify the ontological implications of modern physics under a perspectival but non-subjectivist conception of physical law. The text is intentionally compact and programmatic, serving as a position note within a broader research agenda on observer equivalence and structural ontology.
General relativity and quantum mechanics rely on fundamentally incompatible conceptions of spacetime: the former treats spacetime as a smooth, dynamical entity, while the latter presupposes a fixed background on which quantum states evolve. This work introduces the Collapse Spacetime Model (CSM), a foundational framework in which spacetime itself is not fundamental but emerges from discrete ontological transition events (OTEs)—objective, irreversible acts of actualization that generate localized spacetime structure. Within CSM, quantum state reduction is reinterpreted as one particular manifestation of a more general ontological transition, rather than as an anomaly within unitary dynamics. A central refinement, the Multiplicity of Spacetime Hypothesis (MSH), proposes that physical systems construct their own partial spacetimes, with the classical spacetime continuum arising from stable intersections among these locally generated structures. Constants such as the speed of light are interpreted as invariant structural ratios of spacetime co-generation, rather than as fundamental properties of matter or signals. The model aligns conceptually with causal set theory, emergent network geometry, and collapse-based approaches, while offering a unified ontological account of spacetime emergence, time’s passage, and the relational origin of geometry. CSM reframes physical reality as a becoming universe, providing a coherent foundation for quantum gravity, cosmology, and the philosophy of time, while deliberately postponing detailed dynamical and mathematical formalization to future work.
This paper resolves the measurement problem by demonstrating that the "observer" is not a distinct agent, consciousness, or external triggering entity, but the persistence of structured curvature within a continuous vacuum field. Using the Carol Equation as the foundational relation linking vacuum perturbations to observable energy, we show that continuity is the prerequisite for state actualization in quantum and macroscopic systems. We introduce the term poiokrisis to denote the universe’s selective stabilization of specific configurations from a field of potential states. What has traditionally been interpreted as "wavefunction collapse" is reframed as creative asymmetry: a constructive selection event that maintains continuity across time. The observer is therefore not removed—it is recognized as identical to the stable recursive deformation of the field itself. The framework presented here unifies quantum state selection, persistence, temporal recursion, and the emergence of awareness under a single continuity-based principle. Computational simulations accompanying this work validate the core mathematical claims, including poiokrisis dynamics, temporal emergence, and coherence stabilization across field evolution. The work suggests testable predictions in quantum systems, neural dynamics, and cosmological field behavior. Part 3 of this series established that agents (observers) are not epiphenomenal in the determination of their own future states. This paper extends that argument to a fundamental metaphysical principle: observation is not merely epistemic (a way of knowing), but ontological (constitutive of what properties are actually realized). We demonstrate using quantum mechanics, information theory, and the formal structure of measurement that: (1) The universe contains a unique, unchanging material substance M; (2) M possesses a superposition of potential properties; (3) Which properties are actualized depends on the observer’s measurement choice; (4) This is not mysticism; it is the formal structure of quantum mechanics; (5) Classical physics emerges as the special case where measurement choice appears collapsed. Conclusion: Reality is observer-dependent in a rigorous, physically grounded, and non-arbitrary way.
This preprint presents a continuity-based foundation framework for physical reality. It argues that observable reality exists on the effect side of an actualization boundary experienced as the present moment, or the Now. The framework defines the foundation as absolute continuity and treats observable physical reality as the field-side domain of motion, distinction, uncertainty, measurement, structure, and relation. The paper distinguishes operational certainty from absolute certainty and argues that structural uncertainty is unavoidable for observers confined to the effect side of reality. It reclassifies force, material, geometry, time, particles, randomness, mathematical infinity, and physical constants as operationally real field-side constructs rather than foundation-side primitives. The result is not a mathematical Theory of Everything, but a classification framework for identifying where physical concepts belong relative to foundation, actualization, observation, mathematics, and uncertainty.
