Geometric Origin of Quantum Waves from Finite Action

Abstract

Quantum mechanics introduces wave--particle duality as a postulate, yet the geometric origin of wave behavior has never been derived from first principles. This work shows that a finite quantum of action, $\hbar_{\mathrm{geom}}$, compactifies the classical action manifold into a periodic $U(1)$ phase space. Physical observables depend only on modular action $S \bmod 2\pi\hbar_{\mathrm{geom}}$, making interference a direct geometric necessity. We present this as a theorem, proving that any system with finite $\hbar_{\mathrm{geom}}$ must exhibit wave interference, while the classical limit corresponds to decompactification $\hbar_{\mathrm{geom}}\!\to\!0$. Chronon Field Theory (CFT) provides the physical substrate for this geometry: its causal field $\Phi^\mu$ carries quantized symplectic flux $\oint\omega=\hbar_{\mathrm{geom}}$, establishing Planck’s constant as a geometric invariant of causal alignment. This result unifies modular action, quantization, and spacetime geometry, revealing the wave nature of matter as a consequence of finite causal curvature. The framework predicts quantized phase discontinuities in mesoscopic interferometry, offering an avenue for direct experimental validation.

Reinterpreting Quantum Evolution as Causal Alignment: A Geometric Field Theory of the Present

Bin Li

Modern quantum theory treats time as an external parameter, whereas relativity embeds all events within a static spacetime manifold. Neither framework explains the physical reality of the “Now” or the mechanism by which causal progression unfolds. Chronon Field Theory (CFT) introduces an intrinsic causal alignment field Φμ(x)\( \) whose self-organization generates both geometry and temporality. Quantization arises from the discrete holonomy of the causal connection, while measurement corresponds to boundary-induced synchronization of causal phases. The characteristic coherence speed \( v_{\mathrm{coh}}=\sqrt{J/\chi}=c \) defines the invariant rate at which causal order advances—an intrinsic causal rate rather than the motion of matter or signals. The geometric action quantum \( hbar_{\mathrm{geom}} \), derived from the CFT parameters (J, λ, χ), provides the natural origin of Planck’s constant. Within this framework, quantum discreteness, relativistic invariance, and temporal becoming emerge as complementary manifestations of a single causal–geometric field dynamics.

Quantum Reality from Micro-Causal Geometry: A Wavefunction-Free Resolution of Quantum Paradoxes

Jau Tang

We present a quantum framework grounded in micro-causality and spacetime quantization, where spacetime is composed of discrete, causally ordered units rather than a continuous manifold. This intrinsic structure naturally generates fundamental quantum features—wave–particle duality, energy quantization, and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle—without invoking canonical quantization, matter-wave postulates, or harmonic-oscillator models. Consequently, this paradigm eliminates the long-standing paradoxes of wavefunction collapse, self-interference, and non-local spooky correlations in entanglement.Within this causal lattice spacetime, quantum commutation relations emerge from finite shift operators, and the uncertainty principle arises geometrically from non-commutativity at the fundamental level. Unlike standard quantum field theory (QFT), which predicts infinite vacuum energy and requires renormalization, the present framework removes zero-point energy, ultraviolet divergences, and fine-tuning. Moreover, U(1) symmetry is broken geometrically on the lattice, leading to mass generation without a Higgs mechanism. The Casimir effect is reinterpreted as a temperature-dependent imbalance in thermal radiation pressure rather than the consequence of vacuum fluctuations, predicting that the Casimir force should vary with ambient temperature. Experimental confirmation of such dependence would directly support the lattice interpretation and challenge the QFT view of vacuum energy.By unifying key quantum behaviors through discrete causal geometry, this model offers a divergence-free and physically grounded alternative to continuum-based QFT. It opens new avenues for quantum unification, cosmology, and the understanding of fundamental constants, without speculative constructs, singularities, or infinities.

CARD II: Insights Into the Geometric Origin of Quantum Behavior

Gary A. Marszalek

This manuscript examines how a causal constraint on proper acceleration—correcting a structural omission in special relativity—operates within the CARD framework to produce the discrete phenomena traditionally attributed to quantum postulates. Within this framework, worldlines approaching the causal limit undergo packetized curvature-correction events that carry a minimum action and enforce finite, admissible trajectories. By dissecting the geometric structure that lies beneath this mechanism, the Acceleration–Radius Decomposition (ARD) is identified as the deeper causal layer governing when and how curvature correction activates. These geometric constraints introduce a minimum action that regulates discrete energy exchange, prevents the classical spiral-in collapse of atomic orbits, establishes a natural ground-state radius, and produces quantized emission through discrete curvature-correction packets. The resulting minimum action K is shown to coincide with the Planck constant h-bar, indicating that the quantum of action emerges from the causal structure of spacetime rather than from independent postulates. These insights suggest that quantum mechanics is an effective description of systems operating near the causal-acceleration limit and that its characteristic discreteness reflects underlying geometric dynamics.

A Geometric Origin of Wave-Particle Duality: Testable Predictions from Double-Slit Interference

zhengda li

Description: This study provides a testable geometric origin explanation for wave-particle duality in quantum mechanics, starting from first principles of discrete geometry. Core Scientific Question While the mathematical formalism of quantum mechanics can precisely predict experimental phenomena such as double-slit interference, the physical origin of wave-particle duality itself has long been treated as a fundamental axiom, lacking deeper explanation. This work attempts to answer: Could quantum phenomena arise from the collective statistical behavior of more fundamental discrete geometric structures? Theoretical Framework Based on a recently developed discrete geometry framework, we regard continuous spacetime as emerging from the topological gluing and recursive folding of Cantor sets. This geometric construction naturally leads to defect structures carrying intrinsic degrees of freedom, whose statistical fluctuations manifest as random noise accompanying the geometric phase field. The two-point correlation of the noise characterizes thermalization information, while higher-order correlations carry non-Gaussian information and long-term memory. Core Predictions For the double-slit interference experiment, we derive a coherence evolution formula and make three directly testable predictions: First, even under strong which-path measurement, interference fringes will exhibit residual visibility due to contributions from higher-order noise correlations, with magnitude between one-thousandth and one-hundredth. This stands in sharp contrast to the complete disappearance predicted by standard decoherence theory. Second, the decoherence process exhibits biexponential behavior, with fast and slow time scales whose ratio ranges from one hundred to one thousand. Third, path information and interference visibility satisfy a specific conservation relation, reflecting the intrinsic constraints on information transformation in discrete geometry. Experimental Proposal We propose a quantum optics experiment using squeezed light to test these predictions. The scheme employs nano-fabricated double slits and single-photon sources with tunable statistical properties, directly verifying the physical effects of higher-order correlations by comparing interference visibility differences between squeezed and coherent light sources. Current single-photon source technology already possesses the capability to resolve the required precision. Scientific Significance If the predictions are confirmed, this would for the first time experimentally establish quantum phenomena as collective statistical manifestations of discrete geometric structures, providing a geometric origin explanation for the Heisenberg uncertainty principle and an objective, consciousness-free mechanism for wavefunction collapse. Furthermore, this would provide tabletop experimental evidence for Planck-scale spacetime discreteness, building a bridge between quantum foundations and cosmological information research. If falsified, this would constrain microscopic parameters in the theory, pushing the model toward more complex colored noise generalizations.

Complex Spacetime Geometry as the Origin of Quantum and Electromagnetic Fields

Bhushan Bhoja Poojary

The lack of a unified geometric foundation connecting quantum mechanics and electromagnetism remains a central challenge in theoretical physics. While quantum field theory treats particles as excitations of fields and general relativity describes gravity as spacetime curvature, a direct geometric link between quantum behavior and electromagnetic phenomena is still elusive. Motivated by this gap, we propose a novel theoretical framework that extends the Schrödinger equation into a complexified spacetime manifold. In this framework, spacetime is treated as inherently complex, with the real part governing classical evolution and the imaginary part encoding quantum fluctuations. By introducing complex derivatives that obey the Cauchy-Riemann conditions, we derive a modified Schrödinger equation whose structure naturally reveals the emergence of quantum behavior from imaginary curvature. Furthermore, we reinterpret the electromagnetic field as arising from the geometric curvature of the imaginary spacetime dimension. Specifically, we show that the imaginary part of the Ricci tensor yields structures mathematically analogous to Maxwell’s equations in curved space. The standard quantum commutation relations are also preserved under this complexification, ensuring compatibility with established quantum formalism. This unified approach not only preserves core quantum and electromagnetic features but also suggests that both phenomena are manifestations of a deeper geometric substrate. By embedding quantum mechanics and electromagnetism in a shared complex geometric framework, our results open promising avenues for a broader unification that may eventually incorporate gravity. This work lays a foundation for reinterpreting field interactions, quantum dynamics, and possibly spacetime itself through the lens of complex geometry.

Geometric Origin of Quantum Structure from Sphere-on-Sphere Topology\\ in the Operator-Derived Dimension (ODD) Framework

Dante Fabian

We extend the sphere-on-sphere geometric quantization mechanism of the Operator-Derived Dimension (ODD) framework to derive the full kinematical structure of quantum mechanics. Starting from the topological origin of Planck’s constant h as a winding invariant of the S1 intersection between the five-dimensional bulk and the four-dimensional causal horizon, we show that the symplectic form, canonical commutation relations, phase, spin, and the path-integral formulation arise uniquely and necessarily from the same geometry. Quantization is therefore not postulated but enforced by topology, while operator algebra emerges from the transverse slicing dynamics. This places the foundations of quantum mechanics on geometric and topological necessity rather than axiomatic assumption.
