Abstract

We theoretically propose a scheme to generate strong genuine tripartite entanglement among three mechanical oscillators in a multimode optomechanical system. In our setup, each mechanical oscillator is independently coupled to three optical modes supported by a single optical cavity, with each optical mode driven by a six-tone driving field. By appropriately tailoring the amplitudes of the driving fields, the mechanical steady state can be engineered into a three-mode squeezed vacuum state exhibiting significant genuine tripartite entanglement. We further investigate the effects of mechanical thermal reservoirs and demonstrate that the entanglement generated by our scheme persists at a significant level even at dilution refrigerator temperatures. Our results offer a feasible route toward the generation and utilization of multipartite entanglement in quantum optomechanical platforms, with potential applications in quantum devices.

Dynamical bipartite and tripartite entanglement of mechanical oscillators in an optomechanical array

Xiao‐Lei Hao, X. Y. Zhang, Y. H. Zhou +3 more

We theoretically propose a method to generate tripartite entanglement of three mechanical oscillators in an optomechanical array. We consider a system comprised of three bichromatically driven optomechanical systems which are coupled to each other via Coulomb interaction of the mechanical oscillators. We show that, for small Coulomb coupling strength, steady tripartite entanglement of the three mechanical oscillators with time periodicity can be generated due to the combined effect of the two-tone drivings and the Coulomb coupling. At large Coulomb coupling strength, the tripartite entanglement exhibits steady entanglement sudden death and revival. The duration of entanglement death during one period can be controlled by the Coulomb coupling strength. The tripartite entanglement is robust against the mechanical thermal noise. Our paper provides us a route for exploring and exploiting controllable and robust multipartite entanglement among macroscopic mechanical oscillators.

Reservoir-engineered entanglement in a hybrid modulated three-mode optomechanical system

Chang-Geng Liao, Rongxin Chen, Hong Xie +1 more

We propose an effective approach for generating highly pure and strong cavity-mechanical entanglement (or optical-microwave entanglement) in a hybrid modulated three-mode optomechanical system. By applying two-tone driving to the cavity and modulating the coupling strength between two mechanical oscillators (or between a mechanical oscillator and a transmission line resonator), we obtain an effective Hamiltonian where an intermediate mechanical mode acting as an engineered reservoir cools the Bogoliubov modes of two target system modes via beam-splitter-like interactions. In this way, the two target modes are driven to two-mode squeezed states in the stationary limit. In particular, we discuss the effects of cavity-driving detuning on the entanglement and the purity. It is found that the cavity-driving detuning plays a critical role in the goal of acquiring highly pure and strongly entangled steady states.

Two-mode squeezed states in cavity optomechanics via engineering of a single reservoir

Matthew J. Woolley, Aashish A. Clerk

We study theoretically a three-mode optomechanical system where two mechanical oscillators are independently coupled to a single cavity mode. By optimized two-tone or four-tone driving of the cavity, one can prepare the mechanical oscillators in an entangled two-mode squeezed state, even if they start in a thermal state. The highly pure, symmetric steady state achieved allows the optimal fidelity of standard continuous-variable teleportation protocols to be achieved. In contrast to other reservoir engineering approaches to generating mechanical entanglement, only a single reservoir is required to prepare the highly pure entangled steady state, greatly simplifying experimental implementation. The entanglement may be verified via a bound on the Duan inequality obtained from the cavity output spectrum. A similar technique may be used for the preparation of a highly pure two-mode squeezed state of two cavity modes, coupled to a common mechanical oscillator.

Steering, bipartite, and genuine tripartite entanglement in five-mode hybrid cavity electro-optomechanical systems

Ping Yu, Jian-Song Zhang, Wenxue Zhong +1 more

We propose a scheme to generate one-way steering, bipartite, and genuine tripartite entanglement in a five-mode hybrid cavity electro-optomechanical system consisted of an optical cavity, a mechanical resonator, and three microwave cavity modes with the help of a squeezed vacuum field. The optical cavity is pumped by a squeezed vacuum field. The mechanical resonator is formed by a freely vibrating silicon nitride membrane, which is a part of a capacitor in an inductor–capacitor circuit forming three microwave resonators. We find that there is robust entanglement and one-way steering between the optical cavity mode and microwave cavity modes in the presence of the squeezed vacuum field. Particularly, there is steady-state genuine tripartite entanglement between three microwave cavity modes, which is robust against thermal fluctuations. Our scheme could be useful for various quantum tasks based on hybrid electro-optomechanical systems fabricated on chips.

Squeezing and entangling two microwave modes of electro-optomechanical systems with two driving lasers

Ang Li, Songlin Yang, Jian-Song Zhang +2 more

Abstract We propose an effective scheme to generate the squeezed vacuum states of two microwave fields, bipartite and genuine tripartite entanglement in a compound four-mode electro-optomechanical system with two driving lasers of different amplitudes. We find that two microwave fields can be squeezed simultaneously when the effective coupling constants between mechanical oscillator and two microwave fields are chosen appropriately. In particular, the squeezing of one microwave mode can be larger than 3 dB even at high temperature. We also find that bipartite and genuine tripartite entanglement can be generated in this system which are robust against thermal fluctuations. Our scheme may have potential applications in quantum information processing and quantum metrology.

Generation of robust tripartite entanglement with a single-cavity optomechanical system

Xihua Yang, Yang Ling, Xuping Shao +1 more

We present a proposal to generate robust tripartite optomechanical entanglement with a single-cavity optomechanical system driven by a single input laser field. The produced stationary tripartite entanglement among two longitudinal cavity modes and a mirror oscillation mode via radiation pressure force exhibits robustness to the variation of the environment temperature when the cavity free spectral range is close to the mechanical oscillation frequency. The present optomechanical system can serve as an alternative intermediary for quantum-state exchange between two microwave (or optical) fields as well as between photons and the macroscopic mechanical oscillator, and may be potentially useful for quantum information processing and quantum networks.
