Abstract

We propose a quaternary encoding format by deterministically manipulating the phase of soliton molecules into four regions with different oscillating ranges. This phase-based encoding scheme demonstrates high fidelity, unveiling its potential in all-optical storage.

Encoding of the Soliton Molecules in a Passively Mode-Locked Fiber Laser

Haoguang Liu, Yixiang Sun, Yao Yao +3 more

Soliton molecules possess abundant degrees of freedom, therefore exhibiting the versatile dynamics. The manipulation of soliton molecules has been vigorously ongoing in recent years, with the aim of achieving on-demand harnessing. In our work, via selecting two different states of the soliton pair as encoding elements, a binary encoding scheme is experimentally realized. The proposed scheme verifies the feasibility of solitonic encoding by gain control, as well as releases its potential in all-optical storage.

Ultrafast Bit and Byte addressing of All-Optical Memory based on Microring Resonators for Next-Generation Optical Networks

Yingyan Huang, Seng‐Tiong Ho

We present a novel ultrafast all-optical memory scheme that has the potential to meet the demanding requirement for 100 Gb/s all-optical data storage. The all-optical memory integrates an all-optical ring resonator flip-flop with an innovative GMCI (gain manipulation of coupler interference) based all-optical switch for ultrafast READ and WRITE. The potential device performance advantages include very low operating power for the memory element (<50 muW per bit), low read-write power for the GMCI based all-optical switch (<0.5-5 mW), ultrafast operation (10-100 Gbit/s), very compact size (<10 mumtimes10 mum per bit), addressable at bit or byte level, and monolithically integrated on InP chip

All-optical control of photonic states in a photonic molecule

Yanhui Zhao, Weining Qian, Can Zhang

We explore the all-optical control of photonic states in a photonic molecule using a tailored control pulse. By systematically analyzing the requirements for effective state manipulation, we demonstrate that an optimized control pulse can switch off Rabi oscillations between coupled cavities, freezing the system in either symmetric or anti-symmetric supermodes. The arrival time, amplitude, and phase of the control pulse dictate the selective freezing and precise amplitude modulation of photonic states. This deterministic control mechanism enables on-demand photonic state engineering, advancing reconfigurable photonic devices and scalable integrated photonic circuits. Our findings underscore the importance of ultrafast dynamical control in quantum optics and optical information processing.
