Abstract ‘Beyond Quantum Technology’ explores the transformative technology that would be made possible by the discovery of new ‘nonequilibrium’ physics beyond quantum mechanics. We begin with a review of quantum technology as developed in recent decades and argue that its scope is necessarily limited. We show how the quantum internet will be vulnerable to hackers who are able to deploy subquantum matter to circumvent the uncertainty principle. This new physics will also enable novel and potentially more powerful computers. We explore the implications of superluminal signalling for interplanetary communication and for the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. The chapter ends with a discussion of how subquantum matter could be harnessed for instantaneous communication across the universe.

Abstract ‘Beyond Quantum Physics’ delves into some detail about the new physics that could be accessed if ever we were able to escape from the restrictive state of quantum death. We begin with a deeper discussion of the ‘quantum conspiracy’, which prevents us from using nonlocality for signalling. We explain precisely why the conspiracy is a peculiarity of the state of quantum death as described by Born’s formula, and we show how superluminal signalling inevitably arises in more general ‘nonequilibrium’ conditions. We also give more details about how quantum relaxation to Born’s formula takes place. The chapter ends with a discussion of other properties of ‘subquantum matter’ (matter breaking Born’s formula), in particular how it could be deployed to circumvent the uncertainty principle.
Abstract Beyond the Quantum offers a panoramic rethink of quantum physics, with potentially revolutionary implications for cosmology, quantum gravity, and quantum technology. Properly understood, ‘pilot-wave theory’ provides a deeper foundation for quantum mechanics, while also going beyond it. First proposed in the 1920s by French aristocrat and physicist Louis de Broglie, and revived in the 1950s by American physicist David Bohm, the theory posits hidden particle motions we cannot currently see or control. The theory is usually regarded as merely an alternative account of the same physics we already know. In fact, pilot-wave theory implies a wealth of new and radical physics beyond the reach of quantum mechanics. Pilot-wave theory tells us that quantum physics is a special case of something broader and deeper. In more general ‘nonequilibrium’ conditions, Einstein’s relativity and Heisenberg’s uncertainty break down. Superluminal signalling becomes possible, and quantum particles can be clearly seen and controlled. This new physics could have left traces in the early universe, and it might be visible today in radiation from exploding primordial black holes. Harnessing this new physics would have transformative technological implications, in particular for communication, cryptography, and computing. Drawing intriguing parallels between the present era of quantum physics and past episodes of scientific confusion, this book tells the story of how pilot-wave theory was discovered and abandoned, revived and reconstructed, and how today it can pave the way to a new and radical physics beyond the quantum.
Quantum computing, long considered a theoretical and esoteric branch of physics, is now emerging as one of the most transformative technological frontiers of the 21st century. Drawing upon the strange and powerful principles of quantum mechanics—superposition, entanglement, and interference—quantum computers offer the potential to solve certain classes of problems far beyond the capabilities of classical systems. From revolutionizing drug discovery to transforming cryptography, the long-term implications of quantum computing could rival the digital revolution of the 20th century. This essay provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state of quantum computing, its scientific and technological challenges, the trajectory of future development over the next two decades, and the economic and ethical dimensions that will shape its responsible deployment.
The concept of the quantum internet shall be to profoundly improve Internet technology by allowing quantum communication between any two points on Earth. Quantum technology, as well as research, will open up the door to all types of new possibilities and opportunities. Some of those possibilities include the speed of communications, Although the first implementations of small-scale quantum networks are anticipated in the foreseeable future, scaling those networks presents enormous challenges for fields such as physics, computer science as well as engineering. This has important implications for a wide variety of fields from weather forecasting to healthcare research as well as the development of Artificial Intelligence, not to mention that the previously known effect on cybersecurity and the ability to break existing encryption methods. At this moment, we are convinced that the quantum Internet will have the ability to do incredible things, considerably faster than the traditional Internet. The great advantage of quantum communication is that it is much more secure than everything else. The internet could look ahead to a bright future with the new quantum technology hacking proof exchange of information as well as superfast data processing is going to become possible. Such a significant breakthrough will provide them with a competitive edge in a hopeful technology and opens a new universe of innovations and unlimited opportunities. In this paper, we offer an overview of the benefits anticipated on the Quantum Internet. In this paper, the author presents the fundamental ideas of quantum physics and describes the concepts of quantum repeaters, and the mechanism of a quantum Internet. Particular attention is given not just to the technical problems implicated, but additionally to the potential impact on society. The purpose of this paper is to provide a straightforward understanding of the Quantum Internet as well as how it developed, and the advantages of Quantum Internet.
Abstract This chapter explores the application of quantum mechanics to data security and its transformative implications. It outlines the vulnerabilities of classical encryption methods and introduces alternative solutions such as post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and quantum key distribution (QKD). It highlights developments in the emerging quantum-enabled internet. The chapter also discusses the potential benefits of blind quantum computing that allows a client to perform calculations on a quantum server while keeping the computation private. Real-world deployments and pilot projects of QKD and PQC are reviewed, along with comparative analysis of national programmes and related policy implications. The chapter discusses the possible business and economic implications of quantum communications and identifies research questions for further exploration.
As quantum computers advance rapidly, traditional encryption methods are becoming vulnerable, making it essential to explore fundamentally new communication technologies such as the quantum internet. The quantum internet is a revolutionary technology that uses the principles of quantum mechanics to transmit data securely and quickly. Unlike classical networks, quantum networks use quantum entanglement and quantum key sharing (QKD), thus providing a higher level of security against future cyber threats. This article presents the technological foundations of the quantum internet, the architecture of quantum networks, and the infrastructure challenges, including quantum repeaters and network scaling. We also discuss industrial applications of the quantum internet, with a focus on the financial, government, and healthcare sectors. The quantum internet is still under development, but it is expected to become a new standard for communication in the coming decades. The study highlights the technological readiness and practical potential of the quantum internet, pointing to a secure and scalable future in communication networks.
