Sixth-generation (6G) networks offer unprecedented ultra-reliability, capacity, and low-latency communication. Nevertheless, the same developments also pose security threats to complex communication infrastructures that may be resistant to traditional cryptographic tools, especially in the context of quantum computing. Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is an innovative technique for achieving unconditional security that leverages quantum-mechanical principles to share cryptographic keys securely. This paper discusses how QKD can be integrated into 6G and beyond networks and used to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data across applications such as autonomous systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), and smart city infrastructure. This paper explores the architecture of QKD-based 6G communication, key-generation systems, and quantum-resistant network layers. It also examines scalability, synchronization, and hardware implementation, and suggests possible hybrid approaches for integrating classical and quantum security protocols. The results imply that the idea of QKD may become the foundation of safeguarded communication systems in the future, ensuring resilience against attacks in the quantum era and enabling individuals to trust the next generation of wireless.
The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized various sectors by enabling seamless device interaction. However, the proliferation of IoT devices has also raised significant security and privacy concerns. Traditional security measures often fail to address these concerns due to the unique characteristics of IoT networks, such as heterogeneity, scalability, and resource constraints. This survey paper adopts a thematic exploration approach for a comprehensive analysis to investigate the convergence of quantum computing, federated learning, and 6G wireless networks. This novel intersection is explored to significantly improve security and privacy within the IoT ecosystem. To enable several secure, intelligent IoT applications, quantum computing, with its superior computational capabilities, can strengthen encryption algorithms, making IoT data more secure. Federated learning, a decentralized machine learning approach, allows IoT devices to learn a shared model while keeping all the training data on the original device, thereby enhancing privacy. This synergy becomes even more crucial when integrated with the high-speed, low-latency capabilities of 6G networks, which can facilitate real-time, secure data processing and communication among many IoT devices. Second, we discuss the latest developments, offering an up-to-date overview of advanced solutions, available datasets, and key performance metrics and summarizing the vital insights, challenges, and trends in securing IoT systems. Third, we design a conceptual framework for integrating quantum computing in federated learning, adapted for 6G networks. Finally, we highlight the future advancements in quantum technologies and 6G networks and summarize the implications for IoT security, paving the way for researchers and practitioners in the field of IoT security.
The rapid convergence of sixth-generation (6G) networks and the Internet of Things (IoT) offers enormous potential for ultra-reliable, low-latency, and massive device connectivity. However, this integration also raises security and privacy concerns, particularly in light of new threats from quantum computing that could undermine traditional cryptography. The architecture of quantum-safe IoT networks that can withstand post-quantum security threats is thoroughly discussed in this review. It addresses the challenges related to how to use blockchain technology to provide decentralized trust as well as secure transactions, how to use post-quantum cryptographic algorithms to protect data confidentiality, and the best way to use a trust management architecture to improve identity verification, authorization, and authentication in the diverse IoT environment. The paper then examines scalability considerations, resource constraints, and interoperability problems that impact safe IoT deployments in the 6G era. This work serves as a roadmap for researchers and practitioners who aim to create robust and future IoT infrastructure and then maintain their security in a post-quantum world by integrating recent research patterns, solution development, and considerations related to real-world implementation.
The fast growth of Internet of Things (IoT) networks has heightened the demand for secure, scalable and energy efficient communications methods. Traditional cryptographic techniques are more susceptible to quantum computing attacks and therefore have pushed the necessity for quantum secure methods. This study presents an energy efficient artificial intelligence assisted quantum secure communication framework designed to scale and provide reliable IoT networks. The framework uses Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) combined with deep learning optimization to improve both relationship and network performance. A self-adaptive AI module applies its lower level of computational resources and dynamically changing network conditions in order to optimize key management, routing decisions, and resource allocation, which reduces both energy consumption and communication latency. The proposed system is intended to support the specific types of constraints faced within an IoT environment. The experimental simulation results demonstrate that the framework improves energy efficiency, increases packet delivery ratio, and decreases latency in IVN (Intelligent Vehicular Networks) by comparison with traditional means of secure communication. In addition, by combining AI and quantum communications, we increase our resilience to threats posed by both classical and quantum forms of attack while providing an added layer of protection for transmitting data between devices in future wireless networks. Additionally, this proposed framework will provide a very scalable and effective method for providing IoT solutions within the environment of 5G mobile networks or later generations.
