Abstract

Multipartite coherent interactions among distinct quantum systems are essential for quantum information and simulation but typically suffer from weak coupling. Here, we propose a scheme to realize photon-magnon-atom tripartite interactions and enhance their coupling strength via quantum squeezing. By applying a parametric drive to the microwave cavity and incorporating magnon Kerr nonlinearity, we induce squeezing of both photons and magnons, which boosts the effective coupling. Remarkably, strongly correlated photon-magnon bundle emission can be realized even under weak driving and weak intrinsic coupling conditions, with both the statistical properties and emission rate tunable via the squeezing strength. This scheme may offer promising applications in quantum information processing and quantum sensing technologies.

Exponentially Enhanced Tripartite Coupling in Quantum Nonlinear Magnonics

Chen, Xue-Chun, Zijie Wang, Zheng, Sheng-Bo +2 more

Strong and controllable tripartite interactions play a pivotal role in quantum information and nonlinear quantum optics, yet challenging to realize. In this work, we propose a hybrid system consisting of a nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center coupled to Kerr magnons (magnons with Kerr nonlinearity) in two yttrium-iron-garnet spheres. By adiabatically eliminating the ground state of the NV qutrit in the dispersive regime, an effective tripartite interaction among magnons and an NV qubit encoded in its excited states is obtained. In the strong driving limit, Kerr magnons can be linearized and give rise to degenerate parametric amplification for squeezing magnons. As a result, both the tripartite interaction and cooperativity are exponentially enhanced twice, which is about $\exp(ξ)$ times than schemes only involving single-squeezing. Hence, our proposal is more experimentally feasible because modest squeezing parameter is sufficient. With this amplified tripartite coupling strength, the system dynamics are greatly accelerated, leading to fast generation of tripartite entanglement. In addition, noise-resilient perfect magnon blockade can be achieved, well predicted by both the analytical approach and numerical simulation with quantum master equation. Our results suggest that the NV center represents a promising interface for engineering many-body interactions in quantum magnonics, offering a versatile platform for exploring fundamental quantum phenomena such as entanglement and correlations.

Magnon squeezing by two-tone driving of a qubit in cavity-magnon-qubit systems

Qi Guo, Jiong Cheng, Huatang Tan +1 more

We propose a scheme for preparing magnon squeezed states in a hybrid cavity-magnon-qubit system. The system consists of a microwave cavity that simultaneously couples to a magnon mode of a macroscopic yttrium-iron-garnet sphere via the magnetic-dipole interaction and to a transmon-type superconducting qubit via the electric-dipole interaction. By far detuning from the magnon-qubit system, the microwave cavity is adiabatically eliminated. The magnon mode and the qubit then get effectively coupled via the mediation of virtual photons of the microwave cavity. We show that by driving the qubit with two microwave fields and by appropriately choosing the drive frequencies and strengths, magnonic parametric amplification can be realized, which leads to magnon quadrature squeezing with the noise below vacuum fluctuation. We provide optimal conditions for achieving magnon squeezing, and moderate squeezing can be obtained using currently available parameters. The generated squeezed states are of a magnon mode involving more than ${10}^{18}$ spins and thus macroscopic quantum states. This work may find promising applications in quantum information processing and high-precision measurements based on magnons and in the study of macroscopic quantum states.

Tunable multiphoton bundles emission in a Kerr-type two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model

Jing Tang, Yuangang Deng

We present a study on manipulation and enhancement of multiphoton bundles emission under a moderate atom-cavity coupling, by constructing a two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model integrated with Kerr nonlinearity in a single atom-cavity system. We show that the vacuum-Rabi splittings for the n th dressed states can be significantly enhanced by Kerr interaction. This remarkable enhancement in energy-spectrum anharmonicity with the well-resolved multiphoton resonance facilitates the generation of special nonclassical states beyond the strong-coupling limit in the experiment. In particular, both two- and three-photon blockades are observed with adjusting the amplitude of the cavity-driving or atom-pump fields. Moreover, we discover that transitions between two- and three-photon bundles can be achieved through tuning the atom-cavity detuning or Kerr nonlinearity. It further showcases the three-photon blockade is substantially strengthened when both the cavity and atomic fields are jointly driven. Our proposal unveils a pathway for realizing highly controllable nonclassical states and quantum devices with combining two-photon Jaynes-Cummings interactions and Kerr nonlinearity, which may pave the way for versatile applications in quantum information science, e.g., all-optical switches and transistors. Exponentially enhanced microwave-to-optical amplification via Kerr magnon interface

Deyi Kong, Shuang He, Fei Wang +1 more

Abstract Microwave-to-optical conversion is essential for connecting superconducting quantum processors with optical quantum networks, but detecting weak input signals typically requires operating in the strong-coupling regime with large cooperativity, which imposes stringent experimental constraints. We propose a microwave-to-optical amplifier based on a cavity optomagnonic system that operates in the weak-coupling regime, where magnon Kerr nonlinearity induces squeezing that exponentially enhances gain without sacrificing bandwidth. Squeezing-induced excess noise is suppressed by a phase-matched squeezed reservoir, enabling near-quantum-limited performance. The scheme provides a new approach for achieving high-gain, low-noise amplification under weak coupling, and can be extended to a broad range of amplifier platforms, including cavity optomechanics and electro-optic systems.

Enhancement of Entanglement via Josephson Parametric Amplifier in a Dual Cavity-Magnon System

Abdelkader Hidki, Abderrahim Lakhfif, Mostafa Nassik +2 more

In the two microwave (MW) cross-shaped cavity magnon system, we describe a method to produce multipartite entanglement and quantum steering. To achieve squeezed states of the magnons, a Josephson parametric amplifier (JPA) creates a squeezed vacuum field that drives the two cavities. We theoretically demonstrate that the cavity-cavity entanglement can be generated at the resonance point, however, increasing the cavity and magnon decay rates generate the cavity-magnon entanglement. By changing the squeezing parameter and increasing the decay rates, we can transfer the cavity-cavity entanglement to cavity-magnon entanglement. Furthermore, the cavity-cavity entanglement (survive up to 2.8K) not only found to be much stronger but also more robust as compared to cavity-magnon entanglement (survive up to 0.4K). More importantly, the genuine photon-magnon-photon tripartite entanglement could be achieved, which is robust against the thermal fluctuations and depends strongly on squeezing parameter. Furthermore, for current dual cavity-magnon system, two-way quantum steering is found when the optomagnonical couplings are equal. The current study offers a straightforward and practical method for achieving multipartite quantum correlations.

The squeezed state of a magnon has garnered widespread attention due to its distinct properties and potential applications. Although preliminary experimental verification has been achieved, numerous technical and theoretical challenges persist. Here, we investigate the nonlinear coupling within the magnon-cavity-qubit system and propose an innovative method for achieving magnon squeezing. By employing virtual photons as a mediator for magnon-qubit interactions and optimizing system parameters, we induce nonlinear coupling.
