Quantum Computing (QC) refers to an emerging paradigm that inherits and builds with the concepts and phenomena of Quantum Mechanic (QM) with the significant potential to unlock a remarkable opportunity to solve complex and computationally intractable problems that scientists could not tackle previously. In recent years, tremendous efforts and progress in QC mark a significant milestone in solving real-world problems much more efficiently than classical computing technology. While considerable progress is being made to move quantum computing in recent years, significant research efforts need to be devoted to move this domain from an idea to a working paradigm. In this paper, we conduct a systematic survey and categorize papers, tools, frameworks, platforms that facilitate quantum computing and analyze them from an application and Quantum Computing perspective. We present quantum Computing Layers, Characteristics of Quantum Computer platforms, Circuit Simulator, Open-source Tools- Cirq, TensorFlow Quantum, ProjectQ etc. that allow implementing quantum programs in Python using a powerful and intuitive syntax. Following that, we discuss the current essence, identify open challenges, and provide future research direction. We conclude that scores of frameworks, tools and platforms are emerged in the past few years, improvement of currently available facilities would exploit the research activities in the quantum research community.
Quantum computing as emerging technology raises high expectations to accelerate complicated calculations, superseding capabilities of presently available supercomputers and to provide a solution to the ever-increasing challenge of processing big amount of data. Besides theoretical promises, quantum computers have successfully been realized in experimental settings during the past few years, and can now also be accessed commercially. Given this availability of quantum computers, their application potential can be scrutinized. Promised to lead to disruptive changes in addressing and solving problems from the domains of simulation, optimization and machine learning, quantum computers have been researched in context of many application scenarios in industrial and academic setting in the recent years. However, it turns out that currently available quantum computers are still to small in size and limited in quality to fulfill the high hopes set in them at the moment. This review reflects on the current state of the technology coming from the perspective of the application, and indicates the developments required on hardware, software and algorithmic side to eventually make quantum computing beneficial for applications.
Advancements in computer technologies have been evolving in order to provide new services or to improve recent computing performance. Applications of computer technologies to several real-world domains are becoming more realistic and efficient. Two challenges are taken into consideration when applying such technologies including more complicated user requirements and exponential growth of data. In the real world, which is driven by business, achieving user requirements is one promising way of yielding competitive advantages. Moreover, time constraints are also crucial for corporate users. Apart from structured data, unstructured data have been significantly generated via several platforms. Such aspects make data processing more demanding. Quantum technology, which is instantiated in physics, has been utilized in various fields including computer science. Even the real quantum computer is still in its early development, but other concepts such as quantum information and quantum computing are making progress. Furthermore, some quantum-based algorithms have been analytically proven to have higher performance compared to the traditional ones. According to such important milestones, quantum computing has been regarded as one of the key infrastructures of future computing. This paper aims to focus on the main aspects of quantum computing including its backgrounds and recent advancement to provide a clearer picture. Its recent applications to intelligent system enhancement, cybersecurity and cryptography empowerment, and finance are addressed. Several key ideas, and opportunities of quantum computing utilization are also outlined based upon systematic reviews of existing works and case studies. Moreover, comparative analysis between classical and quantum computing in terms of core principles, computational efficiency, and practical feasibility is given. Better understanding and proper preparation of applying quantum computing are thus achieved.
Quantum Computing (QC) has evolved into a computational model that can potentially solve problems of classes that cannot be solved by classical systems. This review gives a discussion on the innovation of software frameworks, experimental platforms and quantum computing tools used to compute quantum algorithm development, simulation and implementation. It concentrates on widely used programming environments, which compile abstract quantum models into practical workflows, including Cirq, TensorFlow Quantum, ProjectQ and Qiskit. The paper, besides describing the long-lasting problems related to scalability, error correction, and hardware reliability, also considers the architecture of the modern quantum computing platforms. Finally, new advances are outlined, such as quantum cloud service and the integration of artificial intelligence and quantum computing, and their role in the development of QC to viable and lucrative deployments. All in all, the discussion suggests that even now quantum computing still needs to be taken to the next level in terms of hardware infrastructure and software development that would allow progressing to the next stage of quantum technology testing and implementation.
Quantum computing is emerging as a transformative paradigm across various fields, from drug discovery to secure communications. This paper surveys current and potential applications of quantum computing, particularly focusing on chemistry, optimization, cryptography, finance, and remote sensing. We discuss the state of the art, existing hardware and software approaches, and future research challenges. The review highlights the role of quantum algorithms in outperforming classical methods in specific problem domains.
Quantum computing is a paradigm shift in computational science, where computational tasks that cannot be computationally tackled with binary computing systems can be tackled using quantum mechanics principles, including superposition, entanglement, and quantum interference. The present paper gives a comprehensive summary of the present condition of quantum computing, including the most advanced hardware systems, such as topological qubits, photonics processors, trapped-ion systems and superconducting qubits, and their corresponding advantages and technical challenges. Also, quantum algorithms, including the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) and the variational quantum eigen solvers (VQE), include a summary of the first algorithm, Shor's factorization method, and the second algorithm, Grover's search algorithm. Applications of such algorithms are evaluated in such areas as financial modeling, machine learning, material science, drug discovery, and cryptography. Taking into account the information provided by large research facilities and technology firms, the conditions under which quantum systems can outperform conventional technology, such a concept as quantum advantage is given specific focus in this review. Moreover, this paper pays particular attention to the key barriers to effective implementation, such as qubit decoherence, large error rates, scalability issues, and the lack of fault-tolerant quantum devices that can be sold commercially. Regarding the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices that are expected to be available in the near future, we discuss novel approaches to quantum error correction, especially surface code and concatenated code. The quantum software industry, such as IBM Qiskit, Google Cirq, and Microsoft Q, and an evaluation of quantum workforce and research facility readiness across the globe is also discussed. In the end, this work highlights essential potential future paths, such as standards for post-quantum cryptography, hybrid quantum-classical computation, quantum networking and the quantum internet, and the long-term aims for universal fault- tolerant quantum computers. The review should provide researchers, graduate students, and practitioners with a systematic and up-to-date base to understand the fast-growing discipline of quantum computing and its extensive implications on science and business.
