Abstract

Rice imports are crucial to ensure a country's food availability, especially when domestic production is insufficient. Because rice is the staple food of Indonesians, a spike in rice prices could cause social unrest. Rice imports have a strategic role in maintaining food stability and reducing the risk of price instability. This research aims to utilize the Quantum Perceptron algorithm to predict rice imports more effectively. Quantum Perceptron is a new approach that combines the principles of quantum mechanics with artificial intelligence to improve prediction performance. Researchers used data on the number of rice imports from the leading countries of origin obtained from the Central Statistics Agency using 7 variables x1 to x7. The research results show that the quantum perceptron algorithm can make predictions very well, proven by a perfect accuracy of 100% with a total of 20 epochs. This result is still better than the classical perceptron, which has 100% accuracy but with a larger number of epochs, namely 50. Quantum perceptron has better performance and shorter time, which can be seen from the smaller number of epochs compared to the classical perceptron.

Ahmad Zaki Al Muntazhar, Dwi Ratna Sulistyaningrum, Budi Setiyono +1 more

Indonesia is an agricultural country that was once listed as the third largest country in terms of rice production. Several factors, such as pests and diseases, are factors in Indonesia's decline in rice productivity. This research explores the integration of quantum computing into classical convolutional neural networks (CNN) for the classification of rice leaf diseases. The study utilizes a hybrid quantum neural network (HQNN) model by combining classical CNN with quantum circuits to evaluate the effect of quantum computing in enhancing agricultural disease detection. The dataset comprises 5932 images of rice leaves affected by four distinct diseases, with each image standardized to 300×300 pixels. The HQNN models were benchmarked against traditional CNN, significantly improving classification accuracy. HQNN reached the best training accuracy of 99.93% and validation accuracy of 99.83%. These findings show that quantum computing has great potential in terms of performance, especially when quantum hardware becomes more accessible. The research concludes by suggesting the need for further exploration with more extensive and diverse datasets to realize the benefits of HQNN in diverse agricultural applications fully.

Quantum Perceptron Revisited: Computational-Statistical Tradeoffs

Mathieu Roget, Giuseppe Di Molfetta, Hachem Kadri

Quantum machine learning algorithms could provide significant speed-ups over their classical counterparts; however, whether they could also achieve good generalization remains unclear. Recently, two quantum perceptron models which give a quadratic improvement over the classical perceptron algorithm using Grover's search have been proposed by Wiebe et al. arXiv:1602.04799 . While the first model reduces the complexity with respect to the size of the training set, the second one improves the bound on the number of mistakes made by the perceptron. In this paper, we introduce a hybrid quantum-classical perceptron algorithm with lower complexity and better generalization ability than the classical perceptron. We show a quadratic improvement over the classical perceptron in both the number of samples and the margin of the data. We derive a bound on the expected error of the hypothesis returned by our algorithm, which compares favorably to the one obtained with the classical online perceptron. We use numerical experiments to illustrate the trade-off between computational complexity and statistical accuracy in quantum perceptron learning and discuss some of the key practical issues surrounding the implementation of quantum perceptron models into near-term quantum devices, whose practical implementation represents a serious challenge due to inherent noise. However, the potential benefits make correcting this worthwhile.
