Abstract

We propose a protocol of continuous variable entanglement creation at distances of 100 km using small cross-Kerr nonlinearity χ ≥ χmin≈ 0.01. The protocol corresponds to the contemporary level of experimental equipment and can be used for such practical applications as quantum key distribution.

Creation of entanglement of continuous variables using small Kerr nonlinearity

S. Ya. Kilin, Alexander B. Mikhalychev

The protocol for creating entangled states of electromagnetic field modes at a distance of 100 km using a small Kerr nonlinearity (χ min ≈ 0.01) is proposed. This technique corresponds to the modern level of experimental equipment and can be used for practical purposes, such as quantum key distribution.

Qudit-type entanglement of continuous variables via weak cross-Kerr non linearity

S. Ya. Kilin, Alexander B. Mikhalychev

We propose a protocol for creating arbitrary qudit state (including entangled states) with arbitrary dimensionality in continuous variable system using weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity, linear beamsplitters, detectors not resolving photon numbers, and sources of coherent states. The equation for unique determination of the used coherent states amplitudes is found. The protocol is applicable for creating entangled states at distances of 100 km using cross-Kerr nonlinearity χ ≥ χ min ≃ 0.01 and optical fiber quantum channel.

Continuous variable entanglement purification and its physical implementation

L.-M. Duan, G. Giedke, J. I. Cirac +1 more

We describe in detail an entanglement purification protocol which generates maximally entangled states with high efficiencies from realistic Gaussian continuous variable entangled states. A physical implementation of this protocol which uses high finesse cavities and cavity enhanced cross-Kerr nonlinearities is analysed.

Generating entangled states of continuous variables via cross-Kerr nonlinearity

Zhi‐Ming Zhang, Ashfaq H. Khosa, Manzoor Ikram +1 more

We propose a scheme for generating entanglement of quantum states with continuous variables (coherent states and squeezed vacuum states) of electromagnetical fields. The scheme involves cross-Kerr nonlinearity. It was shown that the cross-Kerr nonlinearity required for generating the superposition and entanglement of squeezed vacuum states is smaller than that required for coherent states. It was also found that the fidelity monotonously decreases with both the increase of the amplitude of the input coherent field and the increase of the deviation of the nonlinear phase shift from π.

The problem of entanglement distribution between distant cites (laboratories) is considered for the states, composed by linear superposition of coherent states with opposite phases. The protocol based on transmission of ancillary field with small amplitude is proposed.

Entanglement transfer via cross-Kerr nonlinearity

Jian Hui Yang, Ren Min, Yu Ya-Fei +3 more

We propose a scheme for realizing entanglement transfer based on the cross-Kerr nonlinear interaction between field-modes. By using this scheme the entanglement can be transferred from the field-states with discrete variables to the field-states with continuous variables. By suitably choosing the amplitude of the initial coherent states,we can obtain the maximum entangled coherent states.
