Abstract

We describe in detail an entanglement purification protocol which generates maximally entangled states with high efficiencies from realistic Gaussian continuous variable entangled states. A physical implementation of this protocol which uses high finesse cavities and cavity enhanced cross-Kerr nonlinearities is analysed.

Physical implementation for entanglement purification of Gaussian continuous-variable quantum states

L.-M. Duan, G. Giedke, J. I. Cirac +1 more

We give a detailed description of the entanglement purification protocol which generates maximally entangled states with high efficiencies from realistic Gaussian continuous variable entangled states. The physical implementation of this protocol is extensively analyzed using high finesse cavities and cavity enhanced cross Kerr nonlinearities. In particular, we take into account many imperfections in the experimental scheme and calculate their influences. Quantitative requirements are given for the relevant experimental parameters.

Entanglement Purification of Gaussian Continuous Variable Quantum States

L.-M. Duan, G. Giedke, J. I. Cirac +1 more

We describe an entanglement purification protocol to generate maximally entangled states with high efficiencies from two-mode squeezed states or from mixed Gaussian continuous entangled states. The protocol relies on a local quantum nondemolition measurement of the total excitation number of several continuous variable entangled pairs. We propose an optical scheme to do this kind of measurement using cavity enhanced cross-Kerr interactions.

Entanglement purification of Gaussian continuous variable quantum states in quantum optics

L.-M. Duan, G. Giedke, J. I. Cirac +1 more

Summary form only given. One of the key elements of quantum communication is the generation of maximally entangled states between distant nodes of a quantum network. We present an entanglement purification scheme which generates maximally entangled states in finite Hilbert spaces from the continuous two-mode squeezed states. With high probabilities, we get a more entangled stale, and the entanglement in the continuous partially entangled state is transferred to the maximally entangled states with high efficiency. Furthermore, in several practical cases this purification protocol can be readily extended to distill maximally entangled states from the mixed Gaussian continuous states.

Generalized entanglement distillation

Yu‐Bo Sheng, Zhou, Lan

We present a way for the entanglement distillation of genuine mixed state. Different from the conventional mixed state in entanglement purification protocol, each components of the mixed state in our protocol is a less-entangled state, while it is always a maximally entangled state. With the help of the weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity, this entanglement distillation protocol does not require the sophisticated single-photon detectors. Moreover, the distilled high quality entangled state can be retained to perform the further distillation. These properties make it more convenient in practical applications.

Quantum entanglement purification in cavities

A physical implementation of an entanglement purification protocol is studied using a cavity quantum electrodynamic based proposal, where the quantum information is stored in quantum field states inside cavities. Also a procedure is given for quantifying the degree of entanglement between quantum fields.

Continuous variable entanglement creation by means of small cross-Kerr nonlinearity

Mikhalychev Alexander B., Kilin Sergei Ya.

We propose a protocol of continuous variable entanglement creation at distances of 100 km using small cross-Kerr nonlinearity χ ≥ χmin≈ 0.01. The protocol corresponds to the contemporary level of experimental equipment and can be used for such practical applications as quantum key distribution.
