Shape It Better than Skip It: Mapping the Territory of Quantum Computing and Its Transformative Potential

Imed Boughzala, Nesrine Ben Yahia, Narjès Bellamine Ben Saoud +1 more

Quantum Computing (QC) is an emerging and fast-growing research field that combines computer science with quantum mechanics such as quantum superposition and quantum entanglement. In order to contribute to a clarification of this field, the objective of this paper is twofold. Firstly, it aims to map the territory in which most relevant QC researches, scientific communities and related domains are stated and its relationship with classical computing. Secondly, it aims to examine the future research agenda according to different perspectives. We will do so by conducting a systematic literature review (SLR) based on the most important databases from 2010 to 2022. Our findings demonstrate that there is still room for understanding QC and how it transforms business, society and learning.

Quantum Computing: Principles, Challenges, and Future Directions

Aayush Manish Chitnis

Quantum computing isn't merely another step forward in technology; it represents a leap into an entirely new paradigm for understanding information. By harnessing the strange but powerful principles of quantum mechanics, quantum computers use qubits that can exist in multiple states at once, connect instantly through entanglement, and solve certain problems far faster than any classical machine. This paper explores the fundamentals of quantum computing, from its theoretical roots to the breakthroughs and setbacks shaping its present. We examine the engineering and scientific challenges - from fragile qubits to daunting scalability issues - and the immense promise they hold for fields like cryptography, artificial intelligence, drug discovery, and materials science. Finally, we consider the future impact of this technology, both its opportunities and its risks, and how it may redefine industries, research methods, and even our approach to solving humanity's hardest problems. The purpose of this paper is to examine the fundamental principles, developmental trajectory, current challenges, and prospective impacts of quantum computing across scientific, industrial, and societal domains. Given its potential to reshape computational capabilities and address complex global challenges, this study holds significance for researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders seeking to understand and navigate the transition toward quantum technologies.

A Leap From Theory to Reality: Knowledge Visualization of Quantum Computing

Keshav Singh Rawat, Tarun Kr. Sharma

Quantum computing (QC) has emerged as a promising research area transitioning from theory to practical realization, driven by interdisciplinary integration. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the evolving research landscape in QC, this study conducts a scientometric analysis of scientific literature retrieved from the Scopus database between 2010 and 2023. Employing the CiteSpace visualization tool, this study examines publication trends, citation patterns, and identifies the prestigious journals in literature. Furthermore, collaboration analysis reveals the top collaborating countries highlighting the active global network of research in QC. Moreover, author cocitation analysis identifies prominent contributors, underscoring their impact and influence in the field. In addition, keyword cooccurrence analysis and thematic analysis pinpoints the areas of significant interest and emerging research frontiers. The content analysis further explores these findings to provide in-depth insights in to themes and trends shaping the field. By providing insights into the evolution of QC, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of technological advancements and determines the future pathway of the field.
