Abstract

Entanglement and Perfect One-Way EPR Steering in Cavity Magnonics System In article number 2400307, Qi Guo and co-workers demonstrate that, for a cross-shaped cavity magnonics system, both the bipartite and tripartite entanglement, and the perfect one-way Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) steering can be generated through the Kerr nonlinearity. Especially, different from the conventional protocols introducing additional unbalanced losses or noises, the presented scheme can manipulate the perfect one-way EPR steering only by adjusting the drive detuning. Therefore, the scheme provides a new insight for producing asymmetric EPR steering.

Generation of Entanglement and Perfect One‐Way EPR Steering via Kerr Nonlinearity in Cavity Magnonics System

Jia‐Xin Wang, Cheng‐Hua Bai, Qi Guo

Abstract A scheme is proposed for generating entanglement and achieving perfect one‐way EPR (Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen) steering in a cross‐shaped cavity magnonics system via the Kerr effect arising from magnetocrystalline anisotropy. The scheme involves two microwave cavities with distinct quality factors that simultaneously couple to a magnon mode of a macroscopic yttrium‐iron‐garnet sphere via the magnetic‐dipole interaction. It is demonstrated that both the bipartite and tripartite entanglement among the three modes will be generated due to Kerr nonlinearity, and the perfect one‐way EPR steering will also be achieved between the cavity with higher quality factor and the magnon mode. Notably, this scheme differs from conventional protocols that produce asymmetric EPR steering by introducing additional unbalanced losses or noises; instead, it can generate and manipulate one‐way EPR steering solely by adjusting the detuning between the magnon mode and the microwave drive field. It is also analyzed that the robustness of the entanglement and EPR steering against the dissipation of magnon and environmental temperature. The present scheme may provide a promising platform and an efficient quantum resource for quantum information processing.

Kerr nonlinearity-induced nonreciprocal Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen steering in a cavity magnonic system

Shuqi Hu, Jiajun Liu, Guangling Cheng +3 more

Abstract We propose to utilize magnon Kerr nonlinearity to generate and control microwave–microwave Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) steering in a cavity magnonic system consisting of two microwave cavities and an yttrium iron garnet (YIG) sphere, where the magnon mode in the YIG sphere is driven by an electromagnetic field. The results show that Kerr nonlinearity of the magnon could not only sensibly induce enhanced entanglement of two microwave fields but also produce asymmetric EPR steering with different ratios of two damping rates and coupling constants. Moreover, it is found that the nonreciprocity of the steady-state EPR steering is obtainable by controlling the sign of the magnon Kerr parameter, which could be tuned from positive to negative by changing the direction of the static magnetic field. The demonstrated nonreciprocal EPR steering is of fundamental interest for the manipulation of quantum states, and may provide potential applications in quantum information tasks.

Manipulating the direction of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering

Zhongzhong Qin, Xiaowei Deng, Caixing Tian +4 more

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering exhibits an inherent asymmetric feature that differs from both entanglement and Bell nonlocality, which leads to one-way EPR steering. Although this one-way EPR steering phenomenon has been experimentally observed, the schemes to manipulate the direction of EPR steering have not been investigated thoroughly. In this paper, we propose and experimentally demonstrate three schemes to manipulate the direction of EPR steering, either by varying the noise on one party of a two-mode squeezed state (TMSS) or transmitting the TMSS in a noisy channel. The dependence of the direction of EPR steering on the noise and transmission efficiency in the quantum channel is analyzed. The experimental results show that the direction of EPR steering of the TMSS can be changed in the presented schemes. Our work is helpful in understanding the fundamental asymmetry of quantum nonlocality and has potential applications in future asymmetric quantum information processing.

Multipartite entanglement and one-way steering in magnon frequency comb

Qianjun Zheng, Yunshan Cao, Peng Yan

Abstract We theoretically demonstrate that multipartite entanglement and one-way Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) steering in a magnon frequency comb (MFC) can be generated in a hybrid magnon–skyrmion system. When the system is driven by two microwave fields at the magnonic whispering gallery mode (mWGM) and the skyrmion, the skyrmion can be simultaneously entangled with three magnon modes of the MFC and the entanglement of the first-order magnon pair in the MFC also appears. The results show that the perfect one-way steering between the skyrmion and the three magnons can be obtained. Interestingly, the steering direction can be manipulated by controlling the amplitudes of two drive fields, which provides flexibility in controlling the asymmetry of the EPR steering and may well have practical applications. Moreover, the genuine tripartite entanglement among the skyrmion and the first-order magnon pair can be achieved with appropriate parameters in the steady state. Our work exhibits that the MFC has great potential in preparing multi-mode entanglement resources, with promising applications in quantum communication.

Direct generation of one-way Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering with a self-phase-locked optical parametric oscillator

Zhan Zheng, Mingyan Yao, Jianping Tong +2 more

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering, that is, an intermediate form of quantum correlations with asymmetry in between entanglement and Bell nonlocality, plays an essential role in quantum information processing, such as one-sided device-independent quantum cryptography tasks. Here we theoretically study the direct generation of EPR steering in ${\ensuremath{\chi}}^{(2)}$ nonlinear optical processes with cascaded crystals in a self-phase-locked optical parametric oscillator. Based on a standard linearization method, we analyze different conditions for generating EPR steering in Gaussian states with vanishing or nonzero mean fields, and also show bistable regions for different types of EPR steering. In particular, such system can intrinsically generate asymmetry one-way EPR steering, without introducing any postoperation. Our results suggest that the self-phase-locked optical parametric oscillator is a good candidate to generate different types of EPR steering at will by varying the cavity detunings, photon loss, or input pump power.

Phase-selective tripartite entanglement and asymmetric Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering in squeezed optomechanics

Ya‐Feng Jiao, Jie Wang, Dong-Yang Wang +6 more

The generation and manipulation of multipartite entanglement and EPR steering in macroscopic systems not only play a fundamental role in exploring the nature of quantum mechanics, but are also at the core of current developments of various nascent quantum technologies. Here we report a theoretical method using squeezing-phase-controlled quantum noise flows to selectively generate and manipulate quantum entanglement and asymmetric EPR steering in a nonlinear $χ^{(2)}$ whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) optomechanical resonator. We show that by pumping the $χ^{(2)}$ nonlinear medium with two-photon optical fields and broadband squeezed lights, a pair of counterpropagating squeezed optical modes could be introduced to the WGM resonator, each coupled with an independent squeezed vacuum reservoir. This configuration could enable squeezing-phase-controlled light-reservoir interaction for each squeezed optical mode, providing a flexible tool for tailoring asymmetric optical noise flows in the counterpropagating modes. Based on this unique feature, it is found that with the injection of asymmetric noise flows, the generation of various types of bipartite and tripartite entanglement become phase-dependent and thus they can be produced in an asymmetric way. More excitingly, it is also found that by further properly adjusting the squeezing parameters, the overall asymmetry of EPR steering can also be stepwise driven from no-way regime, one-way regime to two-way regime. These findings, holding promise for preparing rich types of entangled quantum resources with asymmetric features, may have potential applications in the area of secure quantum information processing such as quantum secure direct communication and one-way quantum computing.
