Improving autonomous thermal entanglement generation using a common reservoir

Abstract We study the entanglement generated in the steady state of two interacting qubits coupled to thermal reservoirs. We show that the amount of steady-state entanglement can be enhanced by the presence of a third thermal reservoir which is common to both qubits. Specifically, we find that entanglement can be enhanced as long as the temperature of the common reservoir is below the thermalisation temperature of the qubits, whenever a single temperature can be assigned to the steady state of the qubits in the absence of the common reservoir. Moreover, the amount of entanglement generated with the common reservoir present can be significantly larger than that which can be obtained without it for any temperature of the individual reservoirs. From the perspective of thermodynamics, we find that enhancement of entanglement is associated with heat absorption by the common reservoir. We propose a possible implementation of our scheme in superconducting circuits and find that a significant enhancement of steady-state entanglement should be observable under experimentally realistic conditions.

Controlling entanglement dynamics of two qubits coupled to a common reservoir via a coherent field

S. R. J. PATRICK, Fuli Li, Meng Wang +1 more

We investigate the time evolution of entanglement between two two-level atoms which are coupled to a common multimode electromagnetic reservoir and simultaneously driven by a coherent field. We find that the entanglement can always be created and maintained with a moderate intensity of the driving field during the track of approaching steady entangled states when both atoms are initially in their ground states and the reservoir is in the vacuum state or the squeezed vacuum state. We also show that the steady-state entanglement between the atoms can be enhanced by use of the coherent field when the reservoir is in the weakly squeezed vacuum state. More interestingly, in the squeezed reservoir case, the sudden death period in the time evolution of the entanglement can be removed by use of the coherent driving field.

Quantum thermal diode dominated by pure classical correlation via three triangular-coupled qubits

Yi‐jia Yang, Yu‐qiang Liu, Chang‐shui Yu

A quantum thermal diode is designed based on three pairwise coupled qubits, two connected to a common reservoir and the other to an independent reservoir. It is found that the internal couplings between qubits can enhance heat currents. If the two identical qubits uniformly couple with the common reservoir, the crossing dissipation will occur, leading to the initial-state-dependent steady state, which can be decomposed into the mixture of two particular steady states: the heat-conducting state generating maximum heat current and the heat-resisting state not transporting heat. However, the rectification factor doesn't depend on the initial state. In particular, we find that neither quantum entanglement nor quantum discord is present in the steady state, but the pure classical correlation shows a remarkably consistent behavior as the heat rectification factor, which reveals the vital role of classical correlation in the system.
