Abstract

The metaverse has profoundly altered the conventional online landscape and has attracted significant interest from researchers and industry professionals. As the metaverse changes quickly, it needs strong and safe cryptographic solutions to make sure that transactions are fair and safe in its highly connected world. This paper presents a novel blockchain-assisted fair exchange signature protocol leveraging quantum key distribution (QKD) to ensure security against both classical and quantum adversaries. The suggested protocol combines blockchain technology with quantum key distribution to create an exchange framework that can’t be changed, is clear, and can’t be tampered with. It also uses quantum mechanics to create keys that are always safe. By incorporating a fair exchange mechanism, the protocol guarantees that either both parties fulfill their obligations or neither party benefits, addressing trust issues in decentralized metaverse transactions. Furthermore, we provide a detailed analysis of the protocol’s security, efficiency, and scalability, highlighting its resistance to quantum attacks and its suitability for real-time applications in the metaverse. Simulation results demonstrate that the protocol significantly enhances exchange fairness, minimizes latency, and ensures robust authentication, making it a promising candidate for securing transactions in next-generation digital ecosystems. Web 3.0 technologies provide a resolution by facilitating a decentralized metaverse ecology. The suggested protocol utilizes quantum fundamentals to facilitate safe communication, while the incorporation of quantum cryptography with Web 3.0 improves the efficiency, security, and authenticity of metaverse environments. We test the proposed quantum signature scheme both theoretically and practically using QuantumSim simulations, demonstrating strong signature performance in comparison to other schemes. The results indicate a computational cost of$0.815 ms$, and communication costs of 1312 bits, demonstrating the protocol’s resilience and performance by conducting a thorough safety and efficiency analysis and demonstrating compliance with essential security features, including unforgeability, undeniability, verifiability, and traceability.

The burgeoning concept of the metaverse as an interconnected virtual space represents the forefront of the next-generation internet. Quantum teleportation, known for its prowess in ensuring secure and reliable communications, stands poised to revolutionize interactions within this immersive digital realm. In this context, we propose a comprehensive interaction protocol tailored for the metaverse environment. The designed protocol entails two fundamental components: first, the interaction between a user and their avatar, facilitated by a secure seven-qubit entangled state; and second, the interaction between two avatars, enabled through an efficient two-qubit entangled state. To fortify the protocol’s resilience, quantum key distribution (QKD) is employed for secure key sharing, while a trusted certificate authority serves as an essential entity for signature verification. Through rigorous safety and efficiency analysis, we demonstrate the protocol’s robustness and performance, ensuring adherence to fundamental security properties such as unforgeability, undeniability, verifiability and traceability. By seamlessly integrating quantum teleportation principles with the metaverse environment, our protocol not only enhances security but also unlocks novel avenues for interaction and exploration within this digital frontier.

Q-CryptChain: Next-Generation Quantum Cryptography Blockchain Security Framework for the Metaverse

Sandeep Ravikanti, Jay Dave, Hai Dong +3 more

The Metaverse integrates virtual reality, augmented reality, and decentralized economies, but its security foundations are increasingly threatened by quantum computing. Classical cryptography used in blockchain systems is vulnerable to quantum attacks, while existing blockchain-based frameworks lack quantum resistance. Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) offers provably secure communication, but has not been systematically applied to Metaverse security. To address this gap, we propose Q-CryptChain, a hybrid framework that combines QKD with blockchain to deliver quantum-safe confidentiality, tamper-proof integrity, and continuous authentication. We formalize the system and threat model, define explicit security properties, and present strengthened algorithms for handshake, transaction validation, and session monitoring. Q-CryptChain provides a future-proof security foundation for Metaverse ecosystems, enabling trustworthy interactions against emerging quantum-era threats.

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF BLOCKCHAIN AND QUANTUM CRYPTOGRAPHY FOR SECURE FAIR EXCHANGE

Dr.Sunil Guptha2 Anita Rai1

In decentralized environments where the parties have only partial trust, secure and fair exchange is a must throughout the entire process. Smart contracts, transparency, and unalterable transaction records are the main functionalities that blockchain technology uses to implement fair exchange, while the case of quantum cryptography is different in that it offers robust security through the quantum key distribution method with eavesdropping that is detectable. In this paper, we examine the pros and cons of blockchain-based versus quantum cryptographic models for implementing secure fair exchange. We evaluate the issues that concern security, fairness, efficiency, scalability, and resistance to quantum attacks. The outcome of the analysis reveals that blockchain not only guarantees enforcement and transparency but also that the adoption of quantum cryptography has a tremendous impact on security, thus increasing the robustness and future-readiness of the fair exchange protocols.

Hybrid Quantum-Safe Cryptographic Scheme With Secure Key Exchange and Signature Scheme

Perera K. Maduni, Ilmu Byun, Jeongil Seo +1 more

Hybrid cryptographic protocol was proposed by integrating quantum-safe algorithms (Kyber and Dilithium) together with a classical ECDSA-based signature scheme to verify secure proof on blockchain. Since quantum computers pose some loopholes in existing cryptography algorithms, the proposed mechanism addresses those vulnerabilities by maintaining compatibility with the existing infrastructure. The protocol integrates post-quantum key exchange to derive shared secrets securely. The shared secrets are used to enable hybrid encryption for efficient data protection. Additionally, the implementation uses a dual-signature approach, using quantum safe and classical signatures. These signatures are combined to ensure robust and tamper-resistant proof verification. The deployed solution validates its feasibility and efficiency for smart contract-based verification. The protocol maintains backward compatibility with existing systems while providing strong resistance to quantum attacks. Benchmark results demonstrate the system’s scalability and robustness under high transaction loads, with efficient gas usage for on-chain proof validation. This approach paves the way for post-quantum secure applications, including verifiable proofs, secure key exchanges, and decentralized systems resilient to quantum adversaries.

B. Nagarajan, D. Saveetha, P. S. G. Aruna Sri +1 more

Blockchain systems are fundamentally dependent on classical cryptographic primitives, which are increasingly threatened by the rapid advancement of quantum computing. In cross-chain communication and interoperability protocols, where safe asset transfer and validation across heterogeneous networks are crucial, this danger is especially serious. Ensuring quantum-resilient interoperability is crucial for preserving security, trust, and long-term sustainability as next-generation blockchain ecosystems move toward multi-chain architectures. Relays, bridges, and atomic swaps are examples of existing interoperability methods that mostly rely on public-key cryptography, which is susceptible to quantum assaults like Shor's algorithm. In the post-quantum era, this vulnerability puts digital assets and cross-chain transactions at risk of compromise. This paper suggests a quantum-resilient cross-chain interoperability protocol framework to overcome this difficulty and allow safe and effective communication between various blockchain platforms. The suggested design incorporates post-quantum cryptographic techniques, such as hash-based and lattice-based signature algorithms, with consensus bridging and cross-chain transaction validation procedures. Additionally, a hybrid cryptographic transition model is presented to provide a progressive transition towards quantum-safe primitives while guaranteeing backward compatibility with current classical systems. The proposed structure greatly increases resilience against quantum attackers while maintaining interoperability efficiency, according to experimental evaluation. Robustness against replay attacks, signature forging, and key compromise under quantum threat models is confirmed by security analysis. The suggested protocol ensures strong and quantum-resilient interoperability in next-generation blockchain infrastructures by offering a scalable and future-ready foundation for safe multi-chain ecosystems.
