The method of Г-operators and the tertiary quantization of quantum electrodynamics equations

B. A. Veklenko

Abstract In cases of solving the problem described by the equations of quantum electrodynamics within the second quantization formalism, it is proposed to quantize these equations one more time, and then solve this problem within the tertiary quantization formalism. In optics of the dispersive media, this procedure makes it possible to avoid the problem of the forced breaking of the photon quantum correlators and to discover many correlation effects previously unknown.

Quantum electrodynamics

Monique Combescot, Shiue-Yuan Shiau

Abstract In the chapter « Quantum electrodynamics », both the particles and the electromagnetic field are quantized. An elementary quantization procedure is first proposed in which the classical field normal modes are naïvely replaced by photon operators. The full quantization procedure is then presented that makes use of the Lagrangian formalism and the resulting Hamilton equations. This chapter ends with a discussion on photon number states and coherent Glauber states.

"On the Complete Integration of Schrödinger's Wave Mechanics, Sommerfeld's Relativistic Corrections, and Maxwell's Electrodynamics: The Scretching Master Equation for the Hydrogen Atom"

Daniel Scretching

This paper presents a unified pedagogical derivation of the hydrogen atom spectrum and radiative transition structure by organizing three historically separate frameworks into a single mathematical chain: Schrödinger’s non-relativistic wave mechanics, Sommerfeld’s relativistic fine-structure theory, and Maxwell’s classical electrodynamics. The analysis shows how Bohr energy levels arise as the non-relativistic bound-state limit, how Sommerfeld-type fine structure appears when relativistic corrections are included, and how Maxwell radiation theory connects naturally to photon emission rates through transition dipole moments and spontaneous decay constants. The completed framework is advanced by adding the necessary modern ingredients of spin, Lorentz covariance, minimal electromagnetic coupling, and field quantization. With these additions, the chain reaches the Dirac equation coupled to the quantized electromagnetic field, the standard foundation of quantum electrodynamics. The resulting Scretching Master Equation is presented as a structured bridge from introductory quantum mechanics to QED, linking energy eigenvalues, angular-frequency scaling, transition dipole strength μ², spontaneous emission Γ = A₂₁, lifetime τ, and photon radiation into one coherent derivational system.
