Abstract

Abstract In our study of super quantum discord between two excitonic qubits inside a coupled semiconductor quantum dots system, our primary focus is to uncover the impact of weak measurement on its quantum characteristics. To achieve this, we analyze how varying the measurement strength x , affects this super quantum correlation in the presence of thermal effects. Additionally, we assess the effect of this variation on the system’s evolution against its associated quantum parameters; external electric fields, exciton–exciton dipole interaction energy and Förster interaction. Our findings indicate that adjusting x to smaller values effectively enhances the super quantum correlation, making weak measurements act as a catalyst. This adjustment ensures its robustness against thermal effects while preserving the non-classical attributes of the system. Furthermore, our study unveils that the effect of weak measurements on this latter surpasses the quantum effects associated with the system. Indeed, manipulating the parameter x allows the weak measurement to function as a versatile tool for modulating quantum characteristics and controlling exciton–exciton interactions within the coupled semiconductor quantum dots system.

Quantum correlations dynamics in two coupled semiconductor InAs quantum dots

Abstract We investigate the dynamics of both quantum discord and concurrence within two excitonic qubits embedded in two coupled semiconductor quantum dots independently interacting with dephasing reservoirs. Their behavior in both Markovian and non-Markovian environments is explored against the dimensionless time and the temperature. Moreover, the effects of the external electric field on these correlations as well as the effects related to the Förster interaction are extensively analyzed. We show that the non-Markovian behavior of quantum correlations is always preserved under the variation of the electric field and the Förster interaction, regardless of the strong influence of these two parameters on the amount of quantum correlations. Furthermore, we show that nonzero discord can still be observed for large values of temperature and dimensionless time, unlike concurrence which vanishes in this regime.

Electric Field effects on quantum correlations in semiconductor quantum dots

S. Shojaei, M. Mahdian, Rozhin Yousefjani

We study the effect of external electric bias on the quantum correlations in the array of optically excited coupled semiconductor quantum dots. The correlations are characterized by the quantum discord and concurrence and are observed using excitonic qubits. We employ the lower bound of concurrence for thermal density matrix at different temperatures. The effect of the Förster interaction on correlations will be studied. Our theoretical model detects nonvanishing quantum discord when the electric field is on while concurrence dies, ensuring the existence of nonclassical correlations as measured by the quantum discord.

Dynamics of super-quantum discord and direct control with weak measurement in open quantum system

Yinghua Ji

Super-quantum discord (SQD) with weak measurement is regarded as a kind of quantum correlation in quantum information processing. We compare and analyze the dynamical evolutions of SQD, quantum discord (QD), and quantum entanglement (QE) between two qubits in the correlated dephasing environmental model. The results indicate that (i) owing to the much smaller influence of weak measurement on the coherence of the system than that of von Neumann projection measurement, SQD with weak measurement is larger than QD, and (ii) dynamical evolution of QD or QE monotonically goes to zero with time, while SQD monotonically tends to a stable value and a freezing phenomenon occurs. The stable value after freezing mainly depends on the measurement strength and the purity of the initial quantum state.

The power of a control qubit in weak measurements

Raul Coto, Víctor Montenegro, Vitalie Eremeev +2 more

In the late 80 s, a curious effect suggested by Aharanov et al. was found to lead to an anomalous amplification based on quantum measurements of weakly coupled systems. In this paper, we investigate the quantum control of the weak value amplification of a qubit system coupled to a meter. For the qubit system, the coupling occurs via a second non-interacting qubit, initially quantum correlated with the first one. We show that for weak measurements, the control can be remotely realized via the post-selected state of the second qubit or the degree of squeezing of the meter. In our study of the quantum control of the amplification, we can easily manipulate the degree of quantum correlations between the initially correlated qubits. We find that the degree of entanglement has no effect on the quantum control of the amplification. However, we also found a clear connection between the amplification and quantum discord like measurements as well as classical correlations between the qubits. Finally, we suggest an application of the amplification control on the enhancement of the quantum measurement accuracy, e.g. measuring the relative phase of the post-selected control qubit in a more precise way, as opposed to the non-amplified case.

Dynamics of the Quantum Discord with Weak Measurement for a Two-atom System in Thermal Reservoirs

Mei Bai, Hong Jia Xu, Xue Qun Yan

Weak measurement is a kind of state partial collapse measurement developed on the basis of von Neumann measurement and positive operator value measurement, which allows us to explore the quantum world which has the least influence on the research system. Based on the weak measurement theory, the dynamics of quantum discord for two isolated atoms in their own thermal reservoirs is presented. We examine the time evolution of both standard quantum discord and quantum discord with weak measurement for the two-atom system, and analyzes the differences between the standard quantum discord and quantum discord with weak measurement in the evolution process with time, as well as the general role of the strength parameter in determing the discord and affecting its dynamic evolution. We show that quantum discords depend on how weak or strong one perturbs the quantum system. We also show that the difference of the standard quantum discord and the quantum discord with weak measurements increases as the strength parameter decreases. This means that the weak measurements can capture more quantum discord of a bipartite system. Our results show that the weak measurement performed on one of the subsystems can lead to the quantum discord that is a more natural measure of quantum correlations than the standard quantum discord captured by the projective measurements.
