Abstract

Abstract We investigate the dynamics of both quantum discord and concurrence within two excitonic qubits embedded in two coupled semiconductor quantum dots independently interacting with dephasing reservoirs. Their behavior in both Markovian and non-Markovian environments is explored against the dimensionless time and the temperature. Moreover, the effects of the external electric field on these correlations as well as the effects related to the Förster interaction are extensively analyzed. We show that the non-Markovian behavior of quantum correlations is always preserved under the variation of the electric field and the Förster interaction, regardless of the strong influence of these two parameters on the amount of quantum correlations. Furthermore, we show that nonzero discord can still be observed for large values of temperature and dimensionless time, unlike concurrence which vanishes in this regime.

Electric Field effects on quantum correlations in semiconductor quantum dots

S. Shojaei, M. Mahdian, Rozhin Yousefjani

We study the effect of external electric bias on the quantum correlations in the array of optically excited coupled semiconductor quantum dots. The correlations are characterized by the quantum discord and concurrence and are observed using excitonic qubits. We employ the lower bound of concurrence for thermal density matrix at different temperatures. The effect of the Förster interaction on correlations will be studied. Our theoretical model detects nonvanishing quantum discord when the electric field is on while concurrence dies, ensuring the existence of nonclassical correlations as measured by the quantum discord.

Post Markovian Dynamics of Quantum Correlations: Entanglement vs. Discord

Hamidreza Mohammadi

Dynamics of an open two-qubit system is investigated in the post-Markovian regime, where the environments have a short-term memory. Each qubit is coupled to separate environment which is held in its own temperature. The inter-qubit interaction is modeled by XY-Heisenberg model in the presence of spin-orbit interaction and inhomogeneous magnetic field. The dynamical behavior of entanglement and discord has been considered. The results show that, quantum discord is more robust than quantum entanglement, during the evolution. Also the asymmetric feature of quantum discord can be monitored by introducing the asymmetries due to inhomogeneity of magnetic field and temperature difference between the reservoirs. By employing proper parameters of the model, it is possible to maintain non-vanishing quantum correlation at high degree of temperature. The results can provide a useful recipe for studying of dynamical behavior of two-qubit systems such as trapped spin-electrons in coupled quantum dots.

DYNAMICS OF QUANTUM CORRELATIONS IN TWO-QUBIT SYSTEMS WITHIN NON-MARKOVIAN ENVIRONMENTS

Rosario Lo Franco, Bruno Bellomo, Sabrina Maniscalco +1 more

Knowledge of the dynamical behavior of correlations with no classical counterpart, like entanglement, nonlocal correlations and quantum discord, in open quantum systems is of primary interest because of the possibility to exploit these correlations for quantum information tasks. Here we review some of the most recent results on the dynamics of correlations in bipartite systems embedded in non-Markovian environments that, with their memory effects, influence in a relevant way the system dynamics and appear to be more fundamental than the Markovian ones for practical purposes. Firstly, we review the phenomenon of entanglement revivals in a two-qubit system for both independent environments and a common environment. We then consider the dynamics of quantum discord in non-Markovian dephasing channel and briefly discuss the occurrence of revivals of quantum correlations in classical environments.

Non-Markovian dynamics of two non-coupled qubits interacting with two separate reservoirs with different spectral densities

Xiao-Yun Wang, Bang-Fu Ding, Heping Zhao

The dynamics of two non-coupled qubits independently interacting with their reservoirs is solved by the time convolutionless projection operator method. We study two-qubit quantum correlation dynamics for two different types of spectral densities, which are a Lorentzian distribution and an Ohmic spectral density with a Lorentzian—Drude cutoff function. For two qubits initially prepared in the initial Bell state, quantum discord can keep longer time and reach larger values in non-Markovian reservoirs for the first spectral distribution or by reducing the cutoff frequency for the second case. For the initial Bell-like state, the dynamic behaviors of quantum discord and entanglement are compared. The results show that a long time of quantum correlation can be obtained by adjusting some parameters in experiment and further confirm that the discord can capture quantum correlation in addition to entanglement.

Entanglement and Quantum Coherence in Coupled Double Quantum Dots under Markovian and Non-Markovian Noisy Channels

Omar Bachain, Mohamed Amazioug, Nawal K. Almaymoni +3 more

Quantum dots are nanometer-scale semiconductor particles that exhibit size-dependent quantum mechanical properties. In this work, we investigate the dynamics of quantum correlations, quantified by the concurrence and the quantum coherence, in a bipartite system of coupled double quantum dots. The analysis is carried out within both Markovian and non-Markovian regimes, and further extended to different noisy quantum channels, including amplitude damping, phase flip, and phase damping. Our results show that environmental memory plays a crucial role in the preservation of quantum correlations, leading to oscillatory behavior and partial revivals in the non-Markovian regime, in contrast to the monotonic decay observed under Markovian dynamics. Moreover, distinct decoherence mechanisms induce qualitatively different effects: dissipative channels rapidly suppress correlations, while phase-based channels lead to either redistribution or gradual degradation. A key finding is that quantum coherence exhibits a higher robustness compared to entanglement under all considered conditions, highlighting its relevance as a reliable quantum resource in noisy environments. These results provide valuable insights into the control and protection of quantum correlations in realistic solid-state systems.
