Physical properties of particles obeying generalized statistics

Ian E. McCarthy

ABSTRACT The Feynman probability amplitudes for interactions between spin ½ fields and fields of integral spin quantized according to the generalized method of Green are investigated. It is shown that the scattering amplitudes are independent of the method of quantization though the amplitudes of the vacuum fluctuations are not. The question of distinguishing particles satisfying the generalized statistics, if they exist in nature, from Fermi or Bose particles is considered. It is shown that the statistical thermodynamics of the particles depends on the statistics, but as this requires a large number of particles in thermodynamical equilibrium, it offers no means of distinction for particles with short lifetimes. In practice, an examination of particles in bound states would identify particles obeying generalized statistics.

q-Deformation and Free Statistics for Interaction of a Field and a Particle

Sergei Vladimirovich Kozyrev

Abstract Emerging of free (or quantum Boltzmann) statistics for a model of quantum particle interacting with quantum field is described in the stochastic limit without dipole approximation. The quantum field is considered in a Gaussian (for example temperature) state. Entangled operators which describe interaction of the field and the particle satisfy the $$q$$ -deformed relations which in the stochastic limit generate free statistics.

Signature of matter–field coupling in quantum–mechanical statistics

Ana Marı́a Cetto, Luis de la Peña

The connection between the intrinsic angular momentum (spin) of particles and quantum statistics is established by considering the response of identical particles to a common background radiation field. For this purpose, the Hamiltonian analysis previously performed in stochastic electrodynamics to derive the quantum description of a one-particle system is extended to a system of two identical bound particles subject to the same field. Depending on the relative phase of the response of the particles to a common field mode, two types of particles are distinguished by their symmetry or antisymmetry with respect to particle exchange. While any number of identical particles responding in phase can occupy the same energy state, there can only be two particles responding in antiphase. The calculation of bipartite correlations between the response functions reveals maximum entanglement as a consequence of the parallel response of the particles to the common field. The introduction of an internal rotation parameter leads to a direct link between spin and statistics and to a physical rationale for the Pauli exclusion principle.
