Exact solution of three dimensional schrödinger equation with power function superposition potential

Abstract

Finding an analytical solution to the Schrödinger equation with power function superposition potential is essential for the development of quantum theory. For example, the harmonic oscillator potential, Coulomb potential, and Klazer potential are all classed as power function superposition potentials. In this study, the general form of the power function superposition potential was used to decompose the second-order radial Schrödinger equation with this potential into the first-order Ricatti equation. Furthermore, two forms of the power function superposition potential are constructed with an exact analytical solution, and the exact bound-state energy level formula is obtained for these two potentials. Finally, the energy levels of some of the diatomic molecules were determined through calculation. And our results are actually consistent with those obtained by other methods.

The Analytic Solution of Schrödinger Equation with Potential Function Superposed by Six Terms with Positive-power and Inverse-power Potentials

HU Xian-quan, Guang Luo, Cui Li-Peng +2 more

The analytic solution of the radial Schrodinger equation is studied by using the tight coupling condition of several positive-power and inverse-power potential functions in this article. Furthermore, the precisely analytic solutions and the conditions that decide the existence of analytic solution have been searched when the potential of the radial Schrodinger equation is V (r) = 1r 8 + 2r 3 + 3r 2 + 3r 1 + 2r 3 + 1r 4 . Generally speaking, there is only an approximate solution, but not analytic solution for Schrodinger equation with several potentials' superposition. However, the conditions that decide the existence of analytic solution have been found and the analytic solution and its energy level structure are obtained for the Schrodinger equation with the potential which is motioned above in this paper. According to the single-value, finite and continuous standard of wave function in a quantum system, the authors firstly solve the asymptotic solution through the radial coordinate r ! 1 and r ! 0; secondly, they make the asymptotic solutions combining with the series solutions nearby the neighborhood of irregular singularities; and then they compare the power series coefficients, deduce a series of analytic solutions ofthe stationary state wave function and corresponding energy level structure by tight coupling among the coefficients of potential functions for the radial Schrodinger equation; and lastly, they discuss the solutions and make conclusions.

Approximate Solution of Schrodinger Equation to Diatomic Molecule for Harmonic Oscillator

Alhaji Tahir, Hassan Bukar

This study has described the approximate solution of Schrodinger equation to diatomic molecule for harmonic oscillator. The solution procedure is developed by the Power series method and Newton’s second law. It consider an approximate solution of harmonic oscillator using Schrödinger equation in one dimension only because other analytical approaches are limited to the widely known method and consider two to five dimensions with various iteration method to obtain their results but here the solutions to be obtained and their efficiency will help other research to comprehend how the solution of this harmonic oscillator has been done over the years and also to use the most efficient approximate solution.

The Three-Dimensional Schrödinger Equation

Reinhold A. Bertlmann, Nicolai Friis

Abstract In this chapter we consider the time-independent Schrödinger equation for three spatial dimensions. Making use of the orbital angular momentum observables, including the Laplacian in spherical polar coordinates, and introducing an effective potential, we recast the three-dimensional Schrödinger as a one-dimensional differential equation for the reduced radial wave function. In this context we discuss conditions for the existence of bound states and an upper bound on the ground-state energy obtained from the Rayleigh-Ritz variational principle. As an example we then consider the bound-state solutions for the spherical potential well and discuss the conditions for it admitting a ground state. We then turn to the Coulomb potential representing the hydrogen atom and discuss methods for obtaining upper and lower bounds on the ground-state energy to explain the stability of matter. Finally, obtain the Laguerre-polynomial solutions of the radial Schrödinger equation for the hydrogen atom, determine their energies and discuss their properties

Exact Analytical Solution of the N -Dimensional Radial Schrödinger Equation with Pseudoharmonic Potential via Laplace Transform Approach

Tapas Das, Altuğ Arda

The second-order N -dimensional Schrödinger equation with pseudoharmonic potential is reduced to a first-order differential equation by using the Laplace transform approach and exact bound state solutions are obtained using convolution theorem. Some special cases are verified and variations of energy eigenvalues En as a function of dimension N are furnished. To give an extra depth of this paper, the present approach is also briefly investigated for generalized Morse potential as an example.

Exact Solutions of the N-dimensional Radial Schrödinger Equation with the Coulomb Potential via the Laplace Tranform

Gang Chen

The second-order N-dimensional Schrödinger differential equation with the Coulomb potential is reduced to a firstorder differential equation by means of the Laplace transform and the exact bound state solutions are obtained. It is shown that this method solving the Schrödinger equation may serve as a substitute for the factorization approach also in lower dimensions. - PACS numbers: 03.65.Ge.
