Abstract

Abstract Quantum‐information storage and retrieval in an optimized manner are of significance to information processing with composite systems. In this paper, an effective scheme is proposed for performing rapid information storage and retrieval between microwave photons and a nitrogen‐vacancy electron spin via shortcuts to adiabaticity. A qutrit of composite photon‐spin system interacts with two classical drivings. By modifying two original Rabi drivings, instead of directly adding an auxiliary counter‐diabatic interaction, information storage and retrieval can be rapidly performed with the optimized shortcut dynamics. Benefited from the shorter duration time, the shortcut‐based operation is more insensitive to decoherence effects than that of adiabatic counterpart. This strategy provides a promising avenue toward fast and robust information processing with solid‐state hybrid systems.

Population Transfer in a Nitrogen-Vacancy Spin Qutrit via Shortcuts to Adiabaticity with Simplified Drivings

Run‐Ying Yan, Zhi‐Bo Feng

Optimal control of quantum system is significant for information science and technology. Here, an efficient scheme is proposed for implementing fast population transfer in a spin qutrit of nitrogen-vacancy center via shortcuts to adiabaticity (STA) with simplified drivings. At two-photon resonance, a $$\Lambda $$ -configuration interaction between the spin qutrit and driving fields can be obtained effectively. By the invariant-based STA, the reversible population transfer can be realized using the Rabi pulses with sine and cosine waveforms. Compared with the superadiabatic transitionless driving, the present pulses in our strategy become simplified technically, contributing to reduce the error effect of control parameter deviations. Moreover, the high-fidelity quantum operations can be performed with the accessible decoherence rates. The protocol could offer an optimized avenue towards the STA-based quantum control of spin qutrit experimentally.

One‐Step Creation of a Spin‐Resonator‐Spin W State via Shortcut to Adiabaticity

Zhi‐Bo Feng, Run‐Ying Yan

ABSTRACT The electron spin of nitrogen‐vacancy center and the phonon mode of mechanical resonator are widely adopted to explore information science and technology, in which the preparation of entangled states in a fast and robust manner is of significance. Here we present a scheme for creating an entangled W state by the technique of shortcut to adiabaticity. Two electron spins are magnetically coupled to a common mechanical resonator, and each spin is individually driven by a classical pulse. By encoding the dressed states of the microwave‐driven spin to a logic qubit manifold, we obtain an effective spin‐resonator‐spin system. By suitably engineering the invariant‐based shortcut with constant Rabi rates, one‐step generation of a tripartite entangled state can be realized without the adiabatic constraint. We further analyze the decoherence effects and the robustness against the Rabi rate inaccuracies and timing error. The strategy could provide a promising avenue to generate entangled states with the hybrid system.

Speeding up generation of photon Fock state in a superconducting circuit via counterdiabatic driving*

Optimal creation of photon Fock states is of importance for quantum information processing and state engineering. Here an efficient strategy is presented for speeding up generation of photon Fock state in a superconducting circuit via counterdiabatic driving. A transmon qubit is dispersively coupled to a quantized electrical field. We address a Λ-configuration interaction between the composite system and classical drivings. Based on two Gaussian-shaped drivings, a single-photon Fock state can be generated adiabatically. Instead of adding an auxiliary counterdiabatic driving, our concern is to modify these two Rabi drivings in the framework of shortcut to adiabaticity. Thus an accelerated operation with high efficiency can be realized in a much shorter time. Compared with the adiabatic counterpart, the shortcut-based operation is significantly insusceptible to decoherence effects. The scheme could offer a promising way to deterministically prepare photon Fock states with superconducting quantum circuits.

Speeding up the Generation of Entangled State between a Superconducting Qubit and Cavity Photons via Counterdiabatic Driving

Run‐Ying Yan, Zhi‐Bo Feng, Ming Li +2 more

Abstract Optimal generation of entangled states is of critical significance for robust quantum information processing. An effective scheme is presented for speeding up the generation of an entangled state between a superconducting qubit and microwave photons via counterdiabatic driving. At a magic bias point, the first three levels of a charge‐phase quantum circuit constitute an effective qutrit. An entangled state based on adiabatic population transfer is first achieved. By the technique of shortcuts to adiabaticity, a counterdiabatic driving is applied to the qutrit, which then accelerates the entanglement generation significantly. Moreover, with the accessible decoherence rates, the rapid operations in a shortcut way are highly robust when compared with adiabatic manipulations. The scheme could offer a promising approach toward optimal preparation of entangled states with superconducting artificial atoms in circuit quantum electrodynamics, experimentally.

Two‐Qubit State Swap and Entanglement Creation in a Superconducting Circuit QED via Counterdiabatic Drivings

Run‐Ying Yan, Zhi‐Bo Feng

Abstract Optimal coherent control of many qubits is critical to quantum information processing. Here, an efficient scheme is proposed for implementing state swap and creating an entanglement with two superconducting qubits in a circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED). Two qutrits of Cooper‐pair box (CPB) circuits are placed into a cavity field and are driven by individual classical microwaves. In the two‐photon resonance with a large detuning, each CPB is reduced into a qubit effectively. Within a composite system composed of qubit states and cavity photons, two‐qubit state swap and entanglement can be fast obtained using the technique of shortcuts to adiabaticity with counterdiabatic drivings. Benefited from the shorter duration times and less sensitivity to timing errors and parameter imperfections, high‐fidelity quantum operations can be performed with the accessible decoherence rates. The present protocol could offer a feasible route towards optimized operations on superconducting qubits in a circuit QED.

Generating microwave photon Fock states in a circuit QED via invariant-based shortcuts to adiabaticity

Run‐Ying Yan, Zhi‐Bo Feng

Abstract Optimal generation of photon Fock states is of significance to quantum science and technology. Here we develop a theoretical scheme for fast generating microwave photon Fock states in a circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED) via invariant-based shortcuts to adiabaticity. A superconducting transmon qubit is dispersively coupled to a cavity field of transmission line resonator. Two classical drivings are applied to a composite system, consisting of a transmon qubit and cavity field. In the two-photon resonance with a large intermediate-level detuning, a single-photon Fock state can be fast created by inversely engineering Rabi couplings. With the assistance of auxiliary driving, qubit state can be initialized for inducing multi-photon Fock states in the shortcut manner. Due to negligible leakage effects and high robustness, our scheme offers a potential way to rapidly prepare photon Fock states with a superconducting qubit in circuit QED.
