EFFECT OF WEAKLY INTERACTING ON ATOMS GAIN AND VALIDITY OF POTENTIAL FIELD FOR ATOM LASER

Qingrong Feng

We report a new sol-gel method for fabricating MgB2 films.Polycrystalline MgB2 films were prepared by spin-coating precursor solution of Mg(BH4)2 diethyl ether on (001)Al2O3 substrates followed with annealing in Mg vapor. In comparison with the MgB2 films grown by other techniques, our films show medium qualities including the superconducting transition temperature of TC~37K,critical current density of Jc (5 K,0T)~5×106 A/cm2,and critical field of HC2(0)~19T.This sol-gel technique has demonstrated to be potential in commercial fabrication of practical used MgB2 films as well as MgB2wires and tapes.

Er3+-doped silica-based microcavities and microspheres

Maurizio Ferrari, C. Armellini, Simone Berneschi +11 more

Two different silica-based glass systems with valuable optical and spectroscopic properties in the mu1.5 band, exploited in optical microcavities, are presented. First, we report on Er3+-activated core-shell silica spheres prepared by sol-gel process. The core consists of a silica sphere of 270 nm in diameter, while the shell is an Er2O3-SiO2 film. The second system is an Er3+-activated microcavity fabricated by rf-sputtering technique. The cavity is constituted of an Er3+-doped SiO2 layer inserted between two Bragg mirrors, fabricated by alternately stacking five TiO2 and five SiO2 thin films. Optical and spectroscopic properties were assessed, and the two systems were characterized from morphological and structural point of view.

Numerical and experimental investigation of upconversion in Er doped sol-gel SiO2

Ayodele Oladeji, Polly Louise Arnold, Mohammad I. Ali +4 more

The upconversion processes in erbium doped sol-gel SiO2are studied. The photoluminescence was measured for selected sol-gel samples and compared with the results of the rate equation model. The results show that the presence of cooperative upconversion processes in erbium doped materials can be easily verified experimentally by measuring the photoluminescence spectrum.
