Abstract

Recently, Kumar Gerry et al. [Phys. Rev. A 90, 033427 (2014) https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevA.90.033427 ] studied the coherence control in a six-level atom through solving the Schrödinger equation in the field-interaction representation. In this manuscript, we investigate the interaction between a six-level atomic system (SLAS) and a single-mode field initially prepared in a squeezed coherent state. We extend the Jeans–Cummings model to describe the interaction between the atom and the squeezed field (SF) and the system dynamics. We examine the time evolution of the atomic coherence, non-local correlation, statistical properties within the bipartite system in the presence and absence intensity-dependent coupling (I-DC) for different squeezing regimes of the field.

Entanglement, quantum statistics and squeezing of twoΞ-type three-level atoms interacting nonlinearly with a single-mode field

Hamid Reza Baghshahi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly

The interaction between two Ξ -type three-level atoms and a single-mode cavity field in the intensity-dependent coupling regime has been studied. The exact analytical solution of the wave function for the considered atom–field system has been obtained by using the Laplace transform technique when the atoms are initially prepared in the excited state and the field is in a coherent state. The presented structure has the potential ability to generate various new classes of entangled states depending on the chosen nonlinearity function. Two forms of intensity-dependent coupling as well as constant coupling are considered. Some important physical properties such as quantum entanglement, quantum statistics and quadrature squeezing of the corresponding states are investigated, numerically, by which the nonclassicality features of the produced entangled state are well-established. In particular, the effect of intensity-dependent coupling on the degree of entanglement between different bipartite partitions of the system (that is, 'atom atom'-field and 'field atom'-atom) using the linear entropy is investigated. At the same time, by paying attention to the negativity as a useful measure, the entanglement between the two atoms is studied in detail.

Dynamics of a deformed atom cavity field system in presence of a Kerr-like medium

Arpita Chatterjee

In this paper, we investigate the interaction between a vee-type three-level atom and a single mode of the electromagnetic field in the presence of a nonlinear Kerr-like medium and an intensity-dependent coupling. We have elucidated the system by a nonlinear Hamiltonian constructed from the standard Jaynes–Cummings model by deforming the field operators and adding some nonlinear terms. Using the initial conditions that the atom is prepared in an excited state and the field is in a coherent state, the state vector of the entire system is determined analytically. The time evolution of nonclassical properties such as Mandel Q, quantum entanglement and position-momentum uncertainty relation (squeezing) of the field are investigated. The quasiprobability distributions are also computed for the resultant state. The effects of the detuning parameters, generalized Kerr medium and intensity-dependent coupling on the previous nonclassicality signs are analysed, in detail.

Atomic dipole squeezing of the degenerate quantum-beat three-level atom with intensity-dependent coupling

Wang Qi-fang

The atomic dipole squeezing is a very important phenomenon in the interaction between an atom and an optical field, but the atomic dipole squeezing of a three-level atom with an intensity-dependent coupling is seldom reported. By using a full quantum theory, We investigate the time-evolution properties of the atomic dipole squeezing of the degenerate quantum-beat three-level atom intensity-dependently interacting with a single-mode coherent field, and explore effects of splitting of the lower energy levels of the atom, the field intensity and the initial atomic coherence on the atomic dipole squeezing. Our results show that, when the two lower levels of the atom is degenerate, dipole squeezing parameters evolve periodically with time, and the splitting of the lower levels destroy this periodicity and reduce the amount of dipole squeezing. The relationship between the amount of dipole squeezing and the initial coherent field intensity is not monotonous. The initial atomic coherence has a great influence on the dipole squeezing.

N-level Atom Interacting with Single-mode Radiation Field: An Exactly Solvable Model with Multiphoton Transitions and Intensity-dependent Coupling

Vladimír Bužek

We study the dynamics of an N-level atom coupled in a lossless cavity to a single-mode near-resonant quantized field. The atomic levels are coupled by the multiphoton transitions and the coupling constants between the field and the atomic levels are supposed to be intensity dependent. We find the exact solution for the state vector describing the dynamics of the atom-plus-field system. As an illustration we use the model for studying (i) the time evolution of the atomic occupation probability with the initially coherent field and (ii) the light squeezing, when the cavity field is initially in the vacuum state and the atom is prepared in the atomic ‘coherent state’ (a superposition of atomic states).

Nonclassical properties of light in atom-cavity interaction scheme with time-and intensity-dependent coupling / Nor Hazmin Sabri

Nor Hazmin Sabri

The nonclassical properties of light and atomic dynamics are studied. The system considered are two level atom interact with a quantized field in a high quality cavity, which is recognized as the Jaynes-Cumming Model. The time- and intensity-dependent atom-field coupling are applied to the system, with different initial field states and initial atomic states. We also extend the system for three level atom in a cavity, and include the dissipative mechanism in the system. We consider the laser driven three level atom in a cavity coupled to a reservoir. Interesting effects of the transient coupling are analyzed through the collapse-revival pattern in population inversion, while the nonclassicality of cavity field is studied through the features in the evolution ofWigner function. The inversion of initial superposed atomic state seems to be independent of initial classical fields but can be stimulated by the Schrodinger cat field. In two level system, the oscillatory coupling coefficient can prolong the occurrence of collapse, in analogy to the Zeno effect. The intensity atom-field coupling duration is an important parameter for controlling atomic inversion and producing frozen nonclassical light in the cavity after the atom-field coupling ceases. The theory developed will provide useful physical insights for future experimental work and enhance significant knowledge on the nonclassicality of light in matter-wave interaction. The research results will particularly benefit quantum information technology.

Dynamics of Entropy and Nonclassicality Features of the Interaction between a ⋄-type Four-Level Atom and a Single-Mode Field in the Presence of Intensity-Dependent Coupling and Kerr Nonlinearity

Hamid Reza Baghshahi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly, Abbas Behjat

The interaction between a $\diamondsuit$-type four-level atom and a single-mode field in the presence of Kerr medium with intensity-dependent coupling involving multi-photon processes has been studied. Using the generalized (nonlinear) Jaynes-Cummings model, the exact analytical solution of the wave function for the considered system under particular condition, has been obtained when the atom is initially excited to the topmost level and the field is in a coherent state. Some physical properties of the atom-field entangled state such as linear entropy showing the entanglement degree, Mandel parameter, mean photon number and normal squeezing of the resultant state have been calculated. The effects of Kerr medium, detuning and the intensity-dependent coupling on the temporal behavior of the latter mentioned nonclassical properties have been investigated. It is shown that by appropriately choosing the evolved parameters in the interaction process, each of the above nonclassicality features, which are of special interest in quantum optics as well as quantum information processing, can be revealed.
